^^^ This Is A Really Fair And Valid Point, But On The Other Hand, The OP Also Has A Legitimate Argument

^^^ This is a really fair and valid point, but on the other hand, the OP also has a legitimate argument about the physical appearances of the characters as how they first appeared to us. Now I can’t draw stick figures to save my life, but I think artists who are still fine-tuning their craft have the opportunity to tackle things like Angharad’s self-harm scars or Nux’s more complex V8 scarification as practice challenges to improve their drawing skills. But I also understand that some artists might find the challenge of drawing things like scars on character bodies daunting so they opt to leave them out.

In a way, I’d be fine with seeing something like that because I’d come up with a slight headcanon that there was a point in Angharad and Nux’s lives where they didn’t yet have the scars they chose to inflict on their bodies. That being said, it would also be weird for me to imagine a fanart piece of a pregnant Angharad without her scars because I first saw her as pregnant AND scarred. It’s kind of like seeing fanart of Harry Potter without his lightning-shaped scar on his forehead: probably okay as an AU but unacceptable to most who refuse to see him in his original canon appearance. Maybe artists can get away with drawing a non-pregnant Angharad without her scars because it is generally accepted by the fandom that she was without physical flaws when she was first presented to Immortan Joe.

TL;DR, we can’t really please everyone, and as such, I feel that artists — whether their drawing skills are advanced or not — should have the artistic/creative license to render fictional characters to the best of their ability but also be mindful of how certain audiences would react if they choose to present artwork of a character without their distinctive physical characteristics.

I Really Dont Like It When Certain Artists Draw Angharad Without Her Scars. Please Do Not Disregard Any

I really don’t like it when certain artists draw Angharad without her scars. Please do not disregard any physical feature of a character that is part of his or her backstory and identity. The scars are part of who Angharad is, and while they may not fully define her as a person, they are a symbol and a reminder of the horrors she has been through, and the fact that defiling her physical beauty was the only form of control she had over her body during her imprisonment with Immortan Joe.

Inspired By The Striking Black-and-white Memento Mori Portrait Of Alexander McQueen By Inez Van Lamsweerde

Inspired by the striking black-and-white Memento Mori portrait of Alexander McQueen by Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, I created my very own skull-print face mask from a biker-themed t-shirt as an homage to my favorite fashion designer of all time. Gonna rock this look tonight in the club! #alexandermcqueen #longlivemcqueen #godsavemcqueen #fashioninspiration #doityourself #accessorize #mementomori #inezvanlamsweerde #vinoodhmatadin #fierceandflawless #styleicon #fashionlegend

Come One, Come All!

Let’s all take a moment to celebrate the most awesome found family in The Wasteland by participating in the War Rig Family Appreciation Week!

image

It’s definitely a good time to be a part of the Fury Road fandom because you are free to create and share all the good things related to this fantastic group that we all know and love. Fan art, fan fiction, fan mixes, fan videos, photo sets, GIF sets, cosplay photo shoots, AU headcanons—any and all creative output related to the War Rig Family is welcome during their Appreciation Week!

From October 19th to the 25th, each day of the week will be dedicated to a particular member of the War Rig Family. The schedule is as follows for anyone who’s interested so kindly bookmark these dates for reference:

Day 01 · Oct. 19 · Monday : Dad Max / Max Rockatansky

Day 02 · Oct. 20 · Tuesday : Fury Mom / Imperator Furiosa

Day 03 · Oct. 21 · Wednesday : The Sisters / The Five Wives (Note: you can post works about the girls either as a group or you can choose to present your favorite Sister on this day. It also helps that it falls on a Wednesday, and that means Woman Crush Wednesday!)

Day 04 · Oct. 22 · Thursday : The Only Son / Nux

Day 05 · Oct. 23 · Friday : Grandma Giddy, Aunt Valkyrie, and the Biker Grannies / Miss Giddy and The Vuvalini

Day 06 · Oct. 24 · Saturday : War Rig Family

Day 07 · Oct. 25 · Sunday : Free Day (Note: this is a sort of catch-up day where you can post your works if you happen to miss the previously delegated days, or a chance to showcase other characters in the film that you’d like to associate with the War Rig Family — i.e. Uncle Ace or first cousin twice removed Coma)

I’ll be reblogging any and all newly created works during the War Rig Family Appreciation Week. If you intend for your posts to be shared, kindly tag it with #wrfweek and/or #war rig family since I’ll be tracking both those tags for updates. Feel free to send your queries in the ask box so I’ll be able to address your concerns. Reblog this post so you can signal boost it to your followers or anyone in the Mad Max fandom who wants to join in on this great family party.

I’m hoping the fandom will turn up for this and I appreciate anyone who is game for this thing. Cheers, everyone!
