"No one remembered my birthday-" Well, but did YOU tell anyone it was coming up and you wanted to celebrate it with them?
"I wish someone would see through it when I tell people I'm fine-" Well, but have YOU considered not lying when people ask you how you're doing?
"I am so resentful of my friend because they keep doing this thing that really bothers me-" Well, but have YOU directly communicated that the thing is bothering you?
"I am burning out because my friend keeps expecting me to help them with serious struggles-" Well, but have YOU tried to establish the boundaries you need to feel okay?
"No one ever asks me about this thing I really care about-" Well, but have YOU brought it up yourself?
"I miss my friend but they haven't texted me-" Well, but have YOU been reaching out to them?
Sometimes people are mean, uncaring assholes, in which case you get to be mad. But sometimes you just need to communicate better. Try communication before you assume someone doesn't care!
My partner and I recently finished watching TBOSAS (I’ve read the book beforehand, she haven’t) and her first thought after the movies was: “wow Snow really loved Lucy, if she hadn’t betrayed him they would’ve been just fine. Guess what you love *is* what destroys you most huh” and I’m wondering if that’s an average person’s take after only watching the movies and not read the book? Or did *i* missed a crucial part of the story???
me, reading this ask:

it is not a reflection on your partner's interpretation at all. i think the scariest thing about this ask is that, honestly, i think that your partner's interpretation of the movie can really be supported by the movie itself.
because the movie did not do a great job of conveying snow as the calculated, little maniac that he was. and how threatening he was to lucy gray in the lakehouse.
and i actually dislike the scene at the end of the movie where lucy gray is leaving him. because it makes it look like lucy gray is taunting him. like... 'i'm the only loose end. haha, catch me if you can'. it makes her seem really strong and conniving as a character, so i think that is why they made that interpretation.
but that is just not the reality of the book. in the end, snow was a rabid boy and lucy gray was the trapped girl. that doesn't make lucy gray any less powerful as a character-- rather, it makes her human. she just wants to survive and she is going to try to run from that situation.
in the book, she isn't taunting snow or revealing how she is a liability to him. all of those conclusions are being made by snow and she is just smart enough to run away from him before he figures it out.
so, no you did not miss a big part of the book. and also, i would argue that your partner's interpretation is somewhat supported by the movie.
overall, i really enjoyed that movie, but that one scene really bothered me from the moment i left the theater.

One of these nerdy prudes is not like the other
“I’m slowly learning that some people aren’t good for me, no matter how much I love them.”

Perhaps that’s why they called it ah-men
The Good Omens fandom on tumblr is so special to me because one post will essentially be a poetic, philosophical analysis of a 5-second shot and the very next post would read as “do you think Aziraphale would say grace before giving Crowley head?”
