Honestly I hate how people view fandom enjoyment nowadays

It's kind of like how people view little girls playing with their dolls.

The narrative is always posed that any little girl that doesn't treat her dolls nicely and play sweetly with them all the time is Weird and Evil, and "there must be something wrong with her!", when in reality‚ most of them never play tea party and are instead playing Lesbian Zombie Apocalypse and Murder Drama Reality Show.

In the same manner‚ a lot of people in fandom spaces aren't vigorously consuming fluff and pure "mOrAl" content at every hour of the day. Some people like spice. Some people like unhealthy dynamics. Some people like to see their favorite characters get kidnapped and tortured. None of that should stand as a reflection of someone's real-life stance on those topics, and they shouldn't be belittled for what makes them happy.

Leaving the drama aside, let's have some positivity!

Hate going into the aromantic tag and seeing tons of anti-shippers. As an aromantic person who ships a bunch of things it’s just so annoying and controlling. Fans can do whatever they want. Fictional characters aren’t real.

People are allowed to ship aromantic characters just like they’re allowed to draw nsfw of asexual characters. You don’t know if a fan doing that is on the aroace spectrum or not. And if it makes you uncomfortable then block them or disengage with that part of the fandom.

And yes, I feel the same way about canonically gay characters. If someone has a hetero ship involving a gay character they shouldn’t be harassed for it. Because bi people exist and fiction is fake. It doesn’t erase representation because the character’s identity is still canon no matter what a fan’s self-indulgent art says.

Ok happy pride. I hope to live in a world where we move beyond telling people what they can and can’t draw because there are much more pressing matters for lgbtq people right now.
