For a while the others were confused and thought she didn't liked them, but after learning that it was how she showed affection they assumed it was something all humans did

Zam wipes the sweat from his brow, and leans against a tree to catch his breath. The armour, the weapons, everything Spoke had given him enhanced his abilities beyond what a person should ever have, but it didn’t make him a god. Not like Spoke himself. He still lived and breathed like a normal person – and got out of breath like one too. And with just him and Mapicc helping Spoke, at least for now, there was a lot to do, and he was getting tired.

His communicator pings.

Mapicc whispers to you: i need sleep Mapicc whispers to you: but i dont wanna be asleep by myself and i dont trust spoke to be the one to watch my back

Zam takes in the unspoken implication of that, lets it sit with him for a moment, and then asks Mapicc for coords to meet up.

The coords lead him to a little cave, mossy but dry. Mapicc’s there, stoking a fire. His eyes flick up and his posture tenses when Zam steps into the hollow, but he relaxes when he sees Zam.

“I’m sleeping first. Wake me if something happens or if Spoke wants us.” Mapicc announces before Zam even has time to say hello. He promptly curls up on a thick patch of moss, gear kicked off, with his back to Zam. It’s been a long time since it’s just been the two of them together – like this, at least, with some real sense of mutual trust. Ever since Zam’s first betrayal, it’s been a fucking mess. And even after joining Spoke, he’d always been there as an intermediary. He knew without having to ask that Mapicc’s trust in Spoke only went so far, of course it did, it’s Spoke, Zam doesn’t trust him either. But Zam knows Mapicc wants to be on the winning side, no matter what, so it makes sense that he’d side with the literal god.

He's… glad that he gets to be teamed with Mapicc again. For real, this time, he hopes at least. No secret plot against him. It’s a strange feeling, to have Mapicc’s trust offered up so easily to him. An achingly familiar one, too. One that he never thought he’d feel again, but here he is –

“Ughhh.” Mapicc groans, clearly annoyed. He pushes himself up enough to throw a rock at Zam before curling back up. “Shut up, you’re thinking so loud.”

“Thinking so loud?? How does that even-“

“Just stop overthinking, Zam.”

“Sorry. My bad.”

“Yeah, it is your bad. Now stop thinking so I can sleep.”

“… G’night, Mapicc.”
