I find the concern that "Gina is lifting the weight more than Ricky" so interesting. Because unless I'm missing something it's just ... not true?

This isn't one of those situations where a man expects a woman to do all the emotional labour - it is textually established that they "do that for each other". Gina understands Ricky when his parents divorce and he helps her talk through missing her mother. Gina convinces him to give the musical a shot, which allows him to find a safe space and Ricky congratulates her on getting the lead and is one of the few people to create a space for her to feel excited about it without her feeling like she has to comfort someone else in the process.

They support each others ideas during musicals (accoustic song vs feather duster brigade).

Moving away from emotional support to more tangiable gestures: when Ricky is going through a rough time, Gina shows up with a hat she made for him. After not knowing him for that long, just because she's excited about having a connection with someone. That is a huge gesture and I could see how that might seem off-balance.

But then Ricky gets her the chocolates. And he does it in secret to cheer her up and is fully willing to bite his tongue and suffer through awkward conversations about and references to those chocolates because it's more important that Gina doesn't think her mother forgot their traditions. Which is also a huge gesture, actually.

The only thing that I could see as Gina lifting more of the weight is that she confessed twice to Ricky's zero. But like you said - his care for her has lived in glances and subtext so far and I'm sure he'll catch up to Gina's confessions in S4.

Honestly, I feel like a lot of people will start to warm up to rina more in season 4.

Like the main thing a lot of people have concerns about is ‘Gina lifting the weight more than Ricky.’

We’ve seen him pine for her in s3, I don’t think we’re in a place to worry.

Listen, normally when tv show ships showing the girl liking the guy first, it can cause some doubts about the guys feelings if he’s not necessarily initiating it. But I always felt like Ricky’s interest in her was from glances and subtext.

And I think now that everything is out in the open, Ricky would be affectionate with her and want to openly scream from the rooftops his love for her.

HSMTMTS Season 3

I really prefer when the cast sing live, or at least sound less digitally edited and the instruments playing are the same ones we can see in the shot. The occasional music video style song is fine (like the dream sequences for auditions), but I really hope that in S4 we can get back to them singing more live or at least sounding less processed...

(Also Wondering and Let You Go are probably my favorite songs from the show, in part for how they are performed)

Ashlyn and Nini’s performance of “Wondering” gives me chills. 

And I love the whole connection of the two of them as singer-songwriters. I didn’t get enough of it in the show!
