Hi Sam! Hope you're doing well. I'm currently doing some deep diving on where Jason calling Tim "Replacement" originated from. Through looking on some sites like AO3 and Live Journal I saw there was an increase of it being used around early-mid 2012, being used in almost every fanfiction between the two in late 2012. I'm curious if you would have some knowledge on why it suddenly became so popular in 2012 or would be able to point to anyone who would. Best of wishes <3

So honestly nothing immediately comes to mind for the increase in popularity in that specific nickname—the only thing that comes to mind is the potential reasoning for an increase in Jason & Tim interactions in general, which would be Red Hood and The Outlaws (2011) #8 releasing circa April 2012. The 'replacement' term isn't used in that interaction, but that conversation between the two of them definitely may have sparked people wanting to explore the dynamic between them more—a starkly different dynamic than the one they had most recently had back before the N52, one where they actually are talking to each other a little bit outside of fights now (which like... opens the gates for more use of nicknames in general).
