Hello! You can call me Ryn. I don't really post a whole lot, but I reblog things sometimes. This will likely turn into a clusterfuck like all my other social media. My profile picture was drawn by my good friend Maddie! @electriclord

Guys, This Is Really Important. Until Now, Google Collected Your Data, But Did Not Attach Your Name To

Guys, this is really important. Until now, Google collected your data, but did not attach your name to it. Now, they can, and will. This new thing they’re doing will allow them to collect your data across searches, your email, Youtube, Maps, Google+, and all their affiliates, and build a complete profile of YOU.
If that doesn’t bother you, maybe this will: they own and can sell all that data, including anything you create and send (artists and writers, take note).
There is a way you can opt out of this ridiculousness. It’s described in the link, but if you’re still not sure about it, please ask me and I’ll guide you through how to turn all this off.
This is my wake-up call. I’ll be locking down my devices and scaling back what I put through the big Google machine, which means you may see less of me across social media. I’m going to keep researching this, but it may mean in order to keep the rights to my creative work, I’ll have to keep it out of Google’s hands. And that may take some doing.

I have a friend who has pretty much told me the samd thing. Most of the time I can understand on a cognitive level what someone is feeling when it comes to extreme emotions. (I say that because it is the little things I have the hardest time with. I miss them all the time.) Like for example, my boyfriend had his mom pass away several months ago. I love him deeply, and I obviously understood that he was in pain. I just didn’t share his pain. I didn’t feel sad or angry or hurt with him. I just felt... not much of anything. Worried for him, but not much else.
It’s that emotional empathy that I don’t really know how much I actually want to try and learn if it is even possible. I feel like I am better able to help people without being bogged down by the intensity of the emotion. The biggest downside though is that while I can’t share in the pain, I also can’t share in the joys. For me I think that is the biggest negative.
Benefits of having low empathy:
You can't guilt trip me
I remain calm when other people are in distress
I'm not constantly drained by the negativity of the world (instead I am drained by my own depression)
Disadvantages of having low empathy:
Was that a joke?
Was that sarcasm?
I don't always underatand why people feel the way they do
I don't get happy when other people are happy
People with low empathy are demonized even by mental health professionals :/

The Flag of Japan but it's actually this hand towel with a perfectly-placed water stain
A pro for me is that I feel I am better able to help people because I am calm and collected. I can rationally asses the situation and help them with their problem. I can see a solution when them being emotional can’t.
Also! Guys please remember that you don’t need empathy to be kind. I am kind because it is the right thing to do. I will help you to feel less sad because it is the right thing to do, not because your sadness makes me sad too.
