Fun fact I didn't know until I started researching for this: apparently when someone looses an eye, it's possible that the other eye adapts. This is not good in the beginning as the remaining eye stops working for a while (???!). While long term it's not as noticeable (just less field of vision and some problems with depth perception sometimes) it's, uh... interesting :,D

Correct me if I'm wrong about this tho. I did my research, but sometimes there's misinformation out there so don't trust it 100% without checking it first.

Researching Games You Can't Access

I don't care if people don't actual want this or not, but I felt like putting down some sources so that people can experience or learn from games they do not own. I'm going to assume that you can't access games for whatever reason and you aren't just going to emulate it (no judgment either way from me).

This my go-to when I need to brush up on some info, like who has what items, which enemies come from which era... spelling monster names because I never get lizalfos right on my first try ... I go here first! Go to the link provided because that wiki is not affiliated with Fandom, which makes easier to read because you'll have more article than ad. If you click on any of the titles in the main page, it brings you to the article about the game which gives you a pretty good synopsis and introduction to the characters.

If pictures aren't covering it and I need more information or a better idea of the landscape that the pictures are giving me, I go to Youtube and find a playthrough. You can watch somebody play the entire game, 100%, and if you desire, with absolutely no commentary from the uploader.

I needed to brush up on Faron Woods from Twilight Princess so I typed in 'twilight princess faron woods walkthrough' and looked through a few videos to find exactly what I needed. I even took some screenshots for the minimap to use for myself later. I haven't gotten everything I needed from Youtube just yet but I'm pretty happy with what I got so far.

Zelda Dungeon

I think I'm kind of attached to this because I used it when I was young, but Zelda Dungeon has pretty good walkthroughs that can also provide more maps and pictures.

THIS and also the fact that music is what gave him power to save, too. without the song of time, he could have never saved the people of termina from the moon. the song of healing saved darmani and mikau. it also saved kamaro, pamela's father, and many others. music is deeply rooted into his identity as the hero. zelda entrusted him with the ocarina of time, and in linked universe he wears it in easy reach compared to his other items in his bag.

to the hero of time, music is power. it holds the power to save, the power to kill, the power to create, and the power of the hero. he wishes to pass on skill and power to his descendant, and he does that through song - the same songs that he once played as the hero. it's literally giving the twilight the hero's tools, in more ways than just combat.

one thing about the Hero of Time that really differentiates him from other Links is his connection to music. this isn't to say that none of the other Links are musicians or have a strong connection to music, like we have Wind Waker and Link's Awakening right there after all, but that the way music is integrated into Ocarina of Time and, to a somewhat lesser extent, Majora's Mask goes above and beyond a lot of the other games. the Hero of Time's personal connections are forged in duet and the sharing of songs—Saria gifting him her song and ocarina, Impa sharing Zelda's lullaby as proof of his connection to the royal family, Darunia warming to him after hearing the Saria's Song. Epona and Malon, the Skull Kids, the frog choir, the scarecrows, the Giants being called with a song. and, of course, you have the relationship between him and Sheik, how duet is the primary way in which Sheik can aid and communicate with Link. for the Hero of Time, music is so many things. a spell, a weapon, a key, a place, a salve, a mother tongue.

and for all that the howling stone songs are primarily easter eggs with not much else too them, in terms of gameplay or main story relevance, I think they're completely in character for the Hero of Time. what else would he leave behind, how else would he reach out to his predecessor but through a song?
