shoto’s been staring at you for a good 5 minutes now.

you’d figured he was zoning out about three minutes in but then you looked up from your homework at him and he smiled at you, that cute little loverboy smile he does that have your legs feeling like jelly and has your heart push against your chest like it wants to escape.

okay so he wasn’t zoning out. then what is it ? did you have something on your face ? was he waiting for you to say something ?

"is there something on my face ?" you blurt out, already wiping at your chin and around your mouth

he blinks, registering your question and his eyebrows furrow lightly “no, there isn’t.” he answers curtly. reaching his colder hand up to pull your hand away from your face. you’re so much more confused now that you fail to realize he held onto your hand for a moment longer than necessary.

“so then why are you staring at me ?”

he lightly tilts his head to side at that, looking at you questioningly “ why should i not be looking at you ? does it bother you ?”

“wh—no no !” you sputter, he’s flipped the tables on you now “ i was just wondering what was up because you’ve been staring for..a while now” you trail off, suddenly feeling a little embarrassed. his eyes widen just a fraction and you think maybe you got it all wrong somehow and he was zoning out, but then he’s lowering his head in shame “i’m sorry, yn. i didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable with my staring..” he apologizes.

you’re frantic, shaking your head so hard you fear you’ll twist your neck and waving your hands hurriedly “ no, no, no ! it’s okay, sho ! you didn’t make me uncomfortable or anything !” you feel relieved when the tension on his face dissolves the slightest bit “ i was just curious, that’s all” you sigh, your arms fly back next to you because you feel like your sweating buckets and you really don’t want him seeing pit stains.

he hums like he’s thinking about something then suddenly a small smile breaks onto his face and you feel like you’ve been hit dead on by a semi truck. shoto todoroki’s ability to be so effortlessly pretty is and will forever be an enigma to you. “ i like looking at you” he starts “ whenever you do mundane things like studying, you always have this look on your face. i like it, i think it’s cute.”

okay, so turns he was out to kill you.

“ i-i do ?” he responds with a simple “mhm”. you feel like you’re sweating a lot more.

“oh.” is all you say. it’s all you can say because what the hell were you supposed to say ?!

shoto doesn’t look all that bothered by it, cool as usual, simply opting to keep staring at you. you fiddle with your fingers for a bit before you lift your head up to meet his unwavering stare “ i—uhm—thank you.” you whisper. he shakes his head “don’t thank me, you don’t have to. if you want me to stop, i can try to.”

he can try to. you feel like you’re losing your mind.

you’re way beyond flustered now. todoroki’s not a man of many words but when he does use them it throws you for a complete loop, you feel like you’re on a rollercoaster. “no that’s fine.” you answer meekly.

“you’re sure ?” you nod and he hums. “okay then, if you don’t mind.”

“it’s fine” you confirm, feeling your face heat up. “i like looking at you, too.”

you definitely like looking at the handsome smile that forms on his face from your words.

"One.. Two.. Three! Merry Christmas, everyone!" You and the rest of your class cheered as the clock struck midnight, Christmas Eve finally turning to Christmas Day. You sat at the end of the sofa in the common area of your dorm building, Tsu sat beside you on your left.

Warm hot chocolate was being passed around and you gladly took some, thanking Momo as she handed you a mug. You took a sip, smirking against the lip of the cup as you watched, amused as Kaminari and Mina stalked around the common space as if they were up to no good. They were really just trying to get the jump on Bakugou.

One was attempting to slip a coat onto him while the other was trying to throw a Santa hat on him so he'd match the rest of his class. It seemed they thought that if they could get him dressed up in Christmas attire that he'd be like Frosty the Snowman and come life with the Christmas Spirit, but the grouchy blonde was determined to prove them wrong.

"What are you sneakin' around for?!" Bakugou barked at Mina as she tiptoed up behind him with the aforementioned coat. "What?! I wasn't doing anything!" She claimed as she hid the jacket behind her back, looking up toward the ceiling as if it had just become suddenly quite interesting. You rolled your eyes while Tsu and Uraraka giggled to each other as you watched the scene unfold. Kaminari took the opportunity while Bakugou was distracted to rush by with the hat and whished it onto Katsuki's soft spiky locks.

He quickly ripped it off, tossing it behind him as if it were a piece of trash. Mina then rushed up behind him with the coat, once again attempting to slip it onto his person. "You touch me 'n you die!" He yelled at her, gritting his teeth. "Come on, give into peer pressure! It's Christmas! Where's your Christmas spirit?" The pinkette retorted, stomping her foot once at him as if to prove her determination.

You watched as they bickered, gritting and grinding their teeth at each other as if they were a pair of angry dogs. "Mina." You called, waving her over to you after she turned her attention to you. Bakugou's shoulders dropped slightly as they lost the tension they were holding, relief washing over him as he watched the pink girl make her way over to you. She whisked the tossed hat up off the floor, giving Bakugou a pointed glare over her shoulder as she did. Finally, you stepped in to save him from his tormenters. At least, that was what he thought.

You smiled sweetly at her as she handed you the coat and hat, whispering to her quietly that you'd take care of it. Mina shot a smug expression over her shoulder at the blonde before bouncing away. You laid the jacket neatly across your lap, smoothing out the velvety material against your thighs. You then took the hat and began to pet it gently. To everyone else, it just seemed like you were fidgeting with the item, but Katsuki knew better. He narrowed his eyes at you, you knew how to push his buttons, and how to get your way with him.

You knew how much your boyfriend loved when you would rubbed and scratched his head. You also knew that he became insanely jealous over anything if you were giving something else more attention than him. He huffed with annoyance, shoving his hands into his pockets and kicking at the floor like he was a misbehaved child. You, however, continued to talk and be merry with your classmates, giggling with Tsu and Uraraka while sipping at your hot chocolate every so often.

Bakugou knew you had heard his huff and had chosen to ignore him, because most times when you heard a sound of irritation from the blonde, you would cast your attention toward him and ask what was wrong. He knew how to properly earn your attention, but he was stubborn, and the Santa get-up was stupid, and everyone else was stupid for wanting to wear it. Except for you, of course. You always looked good in everything you sported. Hell, he's told you before that you could wear a damn potato sack and still manage to look like a snack. And the Santa two piece you wore was kind of doing something for him; he made a mental note to mention it to you later when you were finally alone.

He straightened himself and grunted toward you this time, testing to see if you'd look his way, but alas you didn't. You continued to play with the hat meant for him, pinching the white fringe between your finger tips and rubbing it gently. He tossed his head back in exasperation, groaning loudly before looking toward you again. Katsuki felt the tips of his ears become hot with envy as he watched you begin to fidget with the spiky orange ball of fabric at the top of the hat. You messed with it in such a way you knew would bother him, treating it so gently as if it were a sleeping cat in your lap instead of a hat. You knew that he thought that should be him right now, sitting on the floor in front of you, receiving your gentle, but firm head scratches.

The girls began to murmur and giggle amongst themselves as they realized what was going on. All of their teases and chatter died on their tongues as Bakugou slunk over to you. He stood next to the couch you sat on and grunted at you again. You paid him no mind as you leaned forward to grab your mug, bringing it to your lips and taking another sip of the smooth and sweet beverage. Everyone held their breath as Katsuki rounded the side of the couch and stood in front of you, silently demanding your undivided attention.

Despite feeling the heat of his gaze pierce your skull, you simply reached around him and placed your mug back onto the coffee table in front you, crossing your legs and turning your body away from him as you leaned back. Katsuki growled at you at that, but the sound caught in his throat as you whipped your head toward him. You gave him a pointed stare, then looked him up and down before looking away from him and continuing your conversation with Tsu that he had so rudely interrupted. Tsu followed your lead and began to speak again and everyone else began to chatter again, recognizing that Bakugou wasn't as much of a threat to you as he was to everyone else.

Bakugou breathed in a deep sigh, all of his stubbornness leaving him on his exhale. He squatted down in front of you and stared at you until you finally him graced him with your attention once more. You gave into him after a few minutes, looking toward him after he grunted at you again. Your eyebrows knitted together in, sighing softly in exasperation as you finally faced him. The crease in your brow came undone at the sight of your boyfriend bowing his head to you, offering his invisible crown to trade for your attention and the Santa hat you still held in your grasp.

You smiled softly, cooing soft praises at him that only he could hear as you gently tugged the hat over his silky blonde spikes. Blush took over Katsuki's face as you tilted his chin up toward you with a delicate finger. "Don't be such a Grinch." You whispered, pressing a kiss to the space between his eyebrows and then to the tip of his nose.

"Yoowoo~" Mina called from over the back of the couch. You and Katsuki glanced upward toward her, a sly grin gracing her lips as she held a sprig of mistletoe above you and the blushing blonde. A glint kissed the shine of your eyes, you smiled and blushed so sweetly, Katsuki thought he was going to explode. He couldn't help the smile that begin to climb onto his lips as huffed a quiet laugh through his nostrils.

You began to lean forward, gently cupping Katsuki's face with your hands. He meant you half way, completing the kiss. A shiver zipped down his spine as he felt you gently nibble on his bottom lip causing him to part them slightly for you for better access. You tilted your head more to deepen the kiss before pulling away. "Oooooo~" Kaminari, Hagakure, and Mina teased between giggles. You rolled your eyes at their taunts, shaking your head a bit while blushing. "Sh-Shuddup." The blonde growled up at them, but it hardly had any bite to it due to him still being flustered from your kiss.

The sounds of your sweet giggling brought the blonde's attention back to you. You leaned forward again this time pressing your forehead against his. "Merry Christmas, Katsuki." You whispered, rubbing your nose against his. He huffed a small laugh at you. "Merry Christmas, y/n." He whispered back.

bakugou makes me so insane like i think he's so choppy and awkward and weird about expressing his feelings for you and he is physically incapable of doing it straightforward—but he will offhandedly gruff out the most romantic things to you.

you're sitting on the kitchen counter as he's chopping veggies for dinner, and he'd brought home the awful news that sero and his long-time—long, long-time—girlfriend had just broken up, and you're like—

"man, that's so sad," frowning down at your feet as you kick them out, glancing over at how focused katsuki is on cutting equally sized potatoes. "can you imagine having to get out in the dating pool after so long? i wouldn't know where to start."

and he's in the zone, so you get a simple hum in response.

now, you don't mean it when you say it, at all, but to be a little shit you poke him lightly in the butt with your toe and wiggle your finger when he glances up at you, at the soggy band-aid wrapped around the tip. "maybe you need to get back out there," you tease, raising your eyebrows when he frowns. "maybe you'll find someone that doesnt nearly cut their finger off in the kitchen or someone that isn't such a crybaby."

it earns you an ugly look, talking like that, and he huffs out his annoyance before going back to the task at hand. "shut up, as if you weren't fuckin' made for me."

and he says it so—unbothered, doesn't even look back at you when your legs finally still and you're stuck just staring at him. because he's too worried about his stupid potatoes.

"what?" you ask, trying not to let your lower lip jut out because he'll hear the tears in your voice right away. "what do you mean?"

katsuki looks anyway, just glances, but at the sheen to your eyes and how big they've gotten, he straightens up immediately. he's alarmed, for a moment, but then it seems to settle what he's said out loud, and he hikes his shoulders up to his ears and pointedly looks away. "y'know what i mean."

and then he scowls and grits his teeth and his cheekies turn so red as you burst into tears.
