Hello Hello! I Saw That You're Opening Requests So Here I Am! May I Have A Fic Of Katsuki Where He Found

Hello hello! I saw that you're opening requests so here i am! May i have a fic of Katsuki where he found the reader who's usually is a tough nut to crack, is 99% of the time never really cry and acts like a crackhead suddenly starts crying after one of Katsuki's empty insults he usually threw at her? And it turns out that she was very overwhelmed about the amount of work, deadlines, pressure and pretty much problems twirling around her to the point where one insult that she KNOWS he didn't even mean it can throw her over the edge? And Katsuki just went '?!?!?!' and didn't know what to do? Kinda feeling pretty much like this rn lmao, and kinda want comfort especially if it's from the boom boom man.

Anyways- i absolutely adore your work!

•words and promises•

A/N: this request was really cute and so relatable cuz ever since the schools started again, they've been going so hard on us I don't even have the time to sleep sometimes (but I have the time to write- ironic huh) I hope you're feeling better now, tho! Thank you so much for the request, I hope this was comforting rather than triggering cuz bakugou is mean here lmao

"And please hand the summary in by Friday. Todoroki-kun, could you make sure to collect them from everyone and hand them to me?" Midnight asked with a bright smile, leaving the room when Todoroki nodded, everyone else groaning in frustration.

"She wants us to read a whole goddamn book and summarize it in a week?" Kaminari cried out, voicing all of your inner thoughts.

"You, know, Kaminari-kun, it's not entirely impossible to do that." Iida interrupted, fixing his glasses. It would've been a bit more convincing if he didn't have purple bags under his eyes and looked like he was about to pass out.

"Maybe It wouldn't have been impossible if we didn't have 20 other summaries and essays to write!" Mina shot back, and Iida had no answers to that.

You stood silent, but that was because you felt like you couldn't breathe. Everything they were saying was true, this was all too much, and you had no idea how to overcome it. Not even aware you zoned out, you were awoken by your state by a hard snap of a finger in front of your eyes.

"Watcha looking at?" The owner of the fingers asked, and despite his hard voice, his ruby red eyes had a playful glint to them.

"I was just worried if you're smart enough to actually finish an assignment." You told mockingly, and he scoffed.

"Look at the one talking, you were the one who came to my door last night, begging me to help you with the science homework."

"I didn't beg!" You protested. "I just asked you if you did it and you offered to help me!"

"I offered to help just because I pitied you." He muttered, his harsh words causing the rest of the class to gasp and look at you, half expecting you to get mad and scream at him, even though this scene was happening more often than they would like to admit.

These little fights you had with Bakugou was now almost a part of their day. It was an odd relationship you had, always attacking each other, sometimes maybe taking it a bit far, but both of you always knew it wasn't coming from the heart.

When you stood silent, sending a mocking laugh his way, and kept scrolling through Instagram, he was a little surprised.

You were never silent, you always, always had something to say back. In fact, that was one of the things he loved- hated about you. Whatever he told you, you had something clever or dumb to say, and you were so brutally blunt when he fought with you, sometimes he found himself laughing at the insults you threw at him.

Still, his pride stopped him from asking if something was wrong, on the contrary, he was happy to finally have some quiet time, he told himself. You could feel his eyes on you as you thoughtlessly scrolled through your Instagram feed, but you didn't have it in you to argue, you were too tired for that.

Bakugou scoffed after looking at you for a while, still expecting you to poke fun at him, but when you sat still, he gritted his teeth and sat back at his place.

■■■

Bakugou never thought he would miss arguing with you.

He noticed you were acting a bit odd, not once trying to get in a fight with him, not even a snarky comment coming from your way. It was weird to see you so quiet, and it was getting on his nerves.

You weren't entirely silent, but whenever he tried to lul you into fighting with him, you just looked at him with a blank smile and went on doing whatever it was you were doing. And Bakugou was not someone you could just ignore.

Your friends had started to catch up with Bakugou's growing frustration, his now harder comments, and how you simply ignored them. They thought you were tired of him (really, who could judge you? Everyone knew how extra Bakugou sometimes could be), and didn't think of it as much, except one particular red-head.

Kirishima noticed how you clenched your teeth, how your hands turned into fists, your knuckles turning white whenever you heard a comment about you. He was probably the only one that actually understood the odd relationship between you and Bakugou, so Kirishima was more than aware that something was troubling you. He also knew better than just simply asking you, well aware you would never accept that there was, in fact, something bothering you.

You had never been the type to talk about your feelings easily, always trying to fix things by yourself, and taking pride by doing things alone. Your stubborn nature sometimes reminded him too much of a certain ashy blonde.

"Hey, Y/N." He approached you at a break, noticing the dark circles under your eyes. "Oh, hey, Kiri-kun, what's up?" You asked with a slightly forced smile when you felt his eyes examining you.

"Nothing much, we're gonna meet up in Mina's dorm tonight, you know, to partly study and talk. You've been kinda distant lately, you wanna come?" You bit your lip thoughtfully. You wanted to go, but there was so much to do and so little time that you felt like you didn't even have time to sleep, let alone spend time with your friends.

"I- I don't know." You muttered with an apologetic smile. "I don't think I can, I really should work on the homework."

"Oh come on," He insisted. "You don't have to stay long, and it's nice to take a break sometime, you know."

Taking a break. Something you've been putting off doing for a long time.

"You've been pushing yourself quite a lot, you know. Don't think we missed how tired and stressed you've been lately."

"I'm not-" You tried to deny, but sighed when he looked like he wouldn't believe whatever you told him. "Okay, I'll be there." You told him, and he sent you a cheeky smile.

"Just make sure we have enough coffee."

"I personally will take care of that." He winked, and you giggled, shaking your head side to side. You didn't even notice the ruby eyes watching you two as you laughed, a dreadful feeling forming in the pit of Bakugou's stomach since it was someone else who made you laugh. Not him. All he could do was to mess with you.

The frustration he felt reflected on his words, too. Sure, Bakugou was never nice, but over the past years you had spent with him, he had learned to be, well, not so aggressive. But as the day went by, he just kept attacking you in a way that made you feel trapped.

And even though you never noticed, the way you seemed to ignore him whenever he tried to get a reaction from you just made everything worse, causing Bakugou to get even braver with his attempts to fight.

And he was aware of it, too. Bakugou could feel his heart beating faster in his chest whenever he told you something, a fear in him that told him he just went too far this time, but nonetheless, he still didn't even get one look his way.

"Miss Y/N? Can you answer this?" You heard Aizawa calling your name, making you jump in your seat. You weren't even aware that you had zoned out. Again. "I- I'm sorry." You muttered after a few seconds, looking down at your hands and hiding your face.

A mocking laugh came from Bakugou's way, and you clenched your teeth, hoping he would just let it go with a scoff, but your hopes died when Aizawa quirked a brow.

"Bakugou? Have something to say?" He asked, and Bakugou scoffed. "How can you be so-" He started to say but stopped mid-sentence when you didn't even turn his way, playing with the pen that was in front of you, instead, as if you were telling him just your pen was more interesting then whatever he had to say.

"Whatever." He muttered, not bothering to finish the remark he was previously saying.

■■■

"I have to pull like a week of full nighters to get half of these done!" Mina groaned eyeing the books and papers that were towering on her desk, denying to fit into her bag.

"And Aizawa-sensei even talked to them to go easy on us." Ochako exclaimed nervously. Even Yaoyorozu, probably the only one that would actually be able to finish all the assignments, had bags under her eyes, either from stress or the lack of sleep.

You entered the room, only to find a bag full of canned coffee and Kirishima's wide smile, greeting you. "I kept my promise, you see." He told you as you settled on the floor across him. "And I kept mine." You answered with a tired smile. It was an unnecessary attempt to hide how tired you were at this point.

"Hey, Y/N, we were wondering if you were okay? You seem to be a little down lately and-" Ochako asked with a nervous smile, which you didn't even let her finish. Maybe it was rude what you did, but you didn't want to hear the end of that sentence.

"Oh I'm perfectly fine." You lied through your teeth. "Maybe just a little stressed, but really nothing important."

"Are you sure?" Mina quirked a brow at you, but before you could answer, everyone looked at the door when they heard a knock, and you took a deep breath of relief. Looking around you, everyone was here, and you weren't sure who it could be at the door-

"Bakugou, you showed up!" Mina cheered when she saw the grumpy blond leaning to the door.

"Tch," he scoffed, his eyes meeting yours for a second, the look in them sending shivers down your spine. "Only because you wouldn't get out of my hair if I didn't."

"It always works, though." She told him with a sly smile, causing his eyes to narrow in a threatening way. His gaze wandered around the room, eyes meeting yours for a second time that night, you noticed his hands turning into tight fists when you looked away.

It wasn't your intention to ignore him the way you did, you just didn't have the strength to fight back. You liked fighting with Bakugou, but lately, you felt like you would break if anyone so much as touched you, and Bakugou's words were -even though it was unintentional- often harder than a slap across your face.

He didn't think of it as something important, no one did, since you were the only one that could handle Bakugou and fight back. You never held your tongue, never quivered before him, never looked sad when he said something that would make anyone else break down crying.

No one ever knew, it did sadden you. Especially lately, with all the stress and pressure on you, it did make you feel like crying, but of course, you weren't going to admit to that.

So, you hid it. From everyone, from your friends, form Aizawa sensei and family. No one needed to know how everything was pressuring you in a way that the only thing you could feel was being trapped until you just... sorted things out.

"Hey, you okay?" Kirishima nudged you with his leg, waking you up from your dark thoughts. Not even aware you zoned out, your breath stuck in your chest, you gaped at him blankly for a second.

"Y-yeah." You answered with a smile, and you heard him sigh.

"Yeah, okay." He finally told you. "Just- just know you can talk to me when you don't feel good, 'kay? You know I'm always here to listen."

You did, you really did, but you just wanted to sort things out yourself, without anyone else, to prove to yourself that you were strong enough.

You nodded and reached for a can of coffee, hiding your watering eyes from him.

"Oh, since you're here!" You heard Mina shuffle some paper on her desk. "Could you help me with this math question? I've been working on it for a while now, but I just couldn't do it." She leaned your way, handing you the paper.

"Oh-" You bit your lip, feeling oddly guilty. "I'm sorry Mina, I couldn't do it either."

"Oh, that's okay, we'll just ask Bakugou, then." She shrugged thoughtlessly and turned to the blond that was watching your every move, looking awfully similar to a wolf watching his prey. His eyes narrowed when you followed your friend and got closer to him, not saying a word. The meek look in your eyes oddly disturbed him, even he wasn't sure why seeing you like this angered him, but it did. He could feel how your nervousness grew as you walked towards him, too.

"What? Too dumb to do it yourself?" He raised one brow, praying to get an annoying answer like you always did, but you just looked away, instead.

"Hey, what the fuck is wrong with you? Are you that dumb that you can't even-"

"Bakugou, that's enough." Kirishima interrupted, noticing your watering eyes, how you nervously chewed on your lip, but Bakugou wasn't listening to him. He was too focused on trying to get a reaction out of you, not even aware of anything else.

"What- did I offend the princess? Is that all you can do? Just stand there all pretty, not able to even defend yourself that people around you has to?" Bakugou blurted out, words coming out of his mouth in an angry fit. The second he said them, his eyes widened, realizing he went too far this time.

Too far.

He saw how you flinched at his words, and that's when you chose to look him in the eyes. Your lashes wet with tears you were desperately trying to hold back, one or two already sliding down your cheek. Only then did he notice how tense you were, and not only then, but almost all the time these last few days.

"I-" You tried to speak, but you choked on your words, your heart beating so loudly in your chest, and in your ears, you knew you had to get away from him.

Not even bothering to excuse yourself, you left the room in a rush, leaving ten gaping people after you.

"Wh-what the fuck?" Bakugou muttered, his eyes still fixed on where you were standing seconds ago.

"Are you fucking dumb?" Kirishima exclaimed suddenly. His eyes wide with disbelief, yeah, Bakugou was mean and he did go overboard sometimes, but this was something else.

"What the fuck were you thinking?" He kept pestering his dumbfounded friend. "What were you thinking as you said all those things to her? Hah?"

"I wasn't-"

"You weren't thinking, that's the problem! What's going on with you lately? How can you lash out at her so?!" Bakugou stood quiet, the rest of the room not even daring to make a sound.

"Shut up, shitty hair." Bakugou muttered as he walked towards the door.

"Where are you going?" Ochako asked meekly, gulping loudly when Bakugou sent a glare her way and exited without even answering her question.

■■■

It wasn't hard to find you.

Maybe it was because he knew you too well, even more than he was even aware, or maybe it was because you weren't as complicated as you thought you were.

The night was chilly, the stars so bright, he was certain you were out in the garden. He spotted you on the bench, feeling his heart clenching with the sight of your face hidden in your hands, shoulders shaking with sobs.

"Y/N." He called out, his voice making you jump in your seat. You sprinted to your legs immediately, wiping the tears with the back of your hand, though, not doing a good job since your face was still damp with tears.

"Bakugou- wh-what are you doing here?" You asked, taking a step back when he got closer to you. He noticed this, a dreadful feeling forming in the pit of his stomach.

"I'm here to..." Why was he here? Certainly not to apologize. No, Bakugou never apologized.

Or so you thought.

"I'm here cause I'm- sorry." He finally managed to say, almost inaudibly. "For the things I said back in there- and other times, too."

He watched as you bit your lip, a confused and hurt look in your eyes, and he wanted to kick himself for causing you to be like this. "Why-" You finally managed to say after a few seconds, "why did you say all that? Why did you-"

"I'm sorry." He repeated, and this time you didn't step back when he walked towards you. So close that you could feel his caramel scent enveloping you. "I'm really sorry."

"I was- I was being dumb, I didn't mean any of that, and I'm really, really sorry." He whispered, and before he even knew what happened, you had your arms wrapped around him. It caught him by surprise, but he instantly closed his arms around you, too, holding you so tightly, his body so warm and so safe, you found yourself crying once again.

"Shh," he whispered to your hair, his hand caressing your hair in a soothing way. "It's okay." He didn't really know what was okay, but he felt like you needed to hear those words.

And you did.

Your sobbed in his arms, your face pressed to that place in between his shoulder and neck as his hand stroking your hair. And you didn't know what it was, but after a while that felt like you were never going to stop crying, you felt your sobs dying slowly, until all that was left was your occasional sighs.

Bakugou had never seen you like this, never so vulnerable, never so open. But the soft smile on his face told you that he didnt hate it. And you didn't exactly hate it either, to finally be able to at least show a fraction of what you were feeling to anyone.

"I'm sorry." You muttered. "I got your shirt wet."

"Dumbass, why are you apologizing-" his eyes widened when he realized he insulted you again. "I didn't mean-"

"No it's okay." You giggled. "I still want to have those- whatever it is we have. Let's not change anything, I don't want you to act as if I'm fragile glass."

"Y-yeah." He answered, his chest finally feeling lighter since he saw you laugh. "Yeah, okay."

His eyes looked at your laughing face one more time. "Promise."

Even though you weren't sure why exactly he promised, you had a feeling it was to never make you cry again.

Omg I’ve read some of ur fics and ur SUCH AN AMAZING WRITER! Can I pls request a Bakugou x fem!reader where he comes home angry and when u try to comfort him he just says something that hurts u. End it with fluff plzz THANK YOU

Genre: angst with a good ending

Warnings: language, bakugou being somewhat a shitty boyfriend, the reader is very forgetful if you haven’t noticed and it's me since I can’t remember anyone’s birthday or any important date to save my life

Synopsis: it’s Bakugou’s birthday, so why isn’t he still home?

So, maybe you weren’t good at remembering birthdays.

And it was true you forgot your boyfriends’ birthday once- it took a long time for you to get him to talk to you again. As if he wasn't grumpy enough already.

And even though he insisted he hated birthday parties and celebrations, you knew how much he liked to see his friends coming together to celebrate.

Well, you always thought he liked it when you were there, too.

Or maybe not.

Remembering the last time, how much he scolded and silent treated you, you wanted to make up for forgetting his birthday, and your anniversary and- yeah, you did forget quite a lot, you wanted to make up for it all.

Since you usually celebrated his birthday not precisely on his birthday but always the day after, you thought it was actually going to be a surprise for him this time. You had also planned a party for the next day to celebrate with his friends, but you wanted to celebrate this one with him and only him.

You gave it your everything to celebrate his birthday in the best way possible, you knew he didn’t like going out to eat, so you decided to make it in your apartment.

You baked a cake, cookies, and those gluten-free shit that he liked, a meal you never thought you would be able to handle, roses and candles… and it was evident how much time and thought you gave to it, making you smile proudly at yourself.

So as you waited for him to come back from work- you took the day off to get everything ready, you were all jittery with excitement.

What would his reaction be? That was all you could think of as you waited for the familiar sound of key jingles.

And waited.

And… waited.

You had been leaving texts and calls to his phone almost every hour, but you knew he never was the type to check his texts anyway, he probably would be home before he even saw your texts.

The night felt longer and longer as you looked at the clock, moving.

A familiar lump was forming in your throat, a feeling of stinging in your eyes making you furious with how easily you felt down. He was probably just… late because of work.

At least 5 hours late, though.

You tried to swallow the lump in your throat that was hurting at this point, to look up so the make-up that you spent hours on wouldn’t smudge, to plaster a smile on your face so that you could smile brightly when he entered the room.

It was his birthday, after all, and you wanted to make him happy.

You bit your quivering lip as you finally stood up, taking the untouched food from the table that was now ice-cold, and even though it looked mouth-watering, you didn’t feel like taking a bite.

It just… it just hurt to see the food you spent so much time on, the one you tried a few times beforehand so it would be perfect go to waste, without him even getting to taste it.

It would have been bearable if you just knew he would come really late, or that he wouldn’t come at all, but the feeling of suspense, to jump in your place and get ready to surprise him whenever you heard footsteps, that was the most tiring of it all.

You didn’t lose your composure, though. Not until you had decided to blow out your favorite 'special ocasion' candles so that they wouldn't go to waste.

No, you didn't let yourself cry until you had noticed they had melted, the now frozen wax puddling beneath the candle holders and staining the table.

You sniffed, trying to hold back the tears that stung your eyes.

You weren't crying at the candles, of course, but more at the fact that you had been waiting for him for that long, but Bakugou still wasn't home.

Your boyfriend wasn’t home on his birthday.

You bit your lip, trying to turn a deaf ear to your dark thoughts that kept repeating you the same thing, that Bakuogou wasn't here, was it because he didn't love you anymore? Because he was bored of you, that he hated you and that-

As you furiously wiped the tears that felt like they were burning your skin, angry at yourself for pitying yourself like this, new ones filled their place instead, and it soon was near impossible to stop crying.

He wasn’t home as you were crying either, though.

He came home long, long after that, after you had finally stopped crying, the sobs that were shaking you now just soft sniffs and sighs.

You heard the keys jiggling for a minute, unable to open the door on the first try, he opened the door a bit too roughly.

He probably wasn't drunk, Bakugou was never the type to like losing himself, his control, and his logic, but it was evident he wasn't exactly sober, either.

You didn’t have it in you to jump from your seat as you did a million more times that day, neither did you have the energy to go running into his arms, drown him in kisses-

You just lay there on the couch, your make up smudged as you stared at the ceiling, probably causing you to look like the dead corpse bride.

“At least come greet me, will ya?” He mumbled, the words causing your blood to boil in your veins. You didn’t answer back.

“Oi, Y/N!” You heard him call out, his eyes roaming around the room, trying to understand why there were so many roses and balloons around the shitty room until his gaze found you.

You who laid on the couch, looking at the ceiling, your mascara, and eyeliner or whatever the fuck it was called running down your face in tear stains. But it was the look on your eyes that caused a lump to form in his stomach.

Blank.

“What are you-”

“H-hey, Katsu.” You said weakly, almost a whisper. You bit your lip, trying to gather the courage to say the words to him. “Happy birthday.”

Your voice cracked with emotions, Bakugou felt a wave of goosebumps tingling on his skin, well aware something was very wrong.

It took him a while to understand what was going on, and his only reaction was, “Well, shit.”

You stood quiet.

“We were out with shitty hair and- I didn’t notice it was this late.” He told you as he checked the hour on his phone, noticing the missed calls and texts, grimacing internally.

You were still quiet, though.

“I didn’t think you were gonna do something for me, damn it!” He snapped, expecting a reaction, any reaction, but he got none. You just stared at him, and it felt him feel so guilty.

“H-how could I have known? I thought you had forgot!” He continued, and that got a reaction from you, a grimace that looked like he just slapped you, and a single tear trickling down your cheek. He noticed your widening eyes, realizing how the words came out, trying to correct himself as he walked towards you.

“I’m not blaming you, for fucks sake, I’m just saying that- that you aren’t very good with dates and you usually forget these shitty things.” Now that he tried to explain it, it sounded even worse, so he decided to shut up, instead.

A few minutes of silence passed, your eyes never once meeting his crimson ones, and he noticed you rising to your legs. “I hope you had fun.” You shrugged with a faint smile. The way your lips trembled despite the smile just made him want to pull you in a hug, apologize until he couldn’t even talk.

But he didn’t, of course.

He watched you walk into the bedroom, not missing how you secretly tried to wipe your tears away.

Bakugou stood up, going to the kitchen to drink some water to get rid of this ridiculous lump in his throat and this tightness in his chest, his eyes falling on the two plates that stood on the counter, the untouched food that stood in them, apparent that there was too much time that was spent on it.

You hadn’t touched your food, either, he noticed. You had to be hungry. Bakugou bit his lip that started to quiver for some stupid reason, took the metal fork that felt cold between his fingers, taking a bite out of the food that would have been the best thing he ate if it was warm. Only if he had come sooner, maybe he could’ve enjoyed it with you, laughing at some stupid shit you said.

He thought you forgot.

Bakugou was afraid you were thinking that he was punishing you for the last time. He was so afraid you would think that since it was exactly the type of thing that he would do.

Not to you, though.

Never to you.

He thought you forgot.

He thought you… forgot.

“Y/N?”Bakugou muttered when he went back to the bedroom, noticing your figure that stilled instantly in the bad in a pitiful attempt of acting asleep.

“I know you’re awake, dumbass.” He mumbled, sitting on the bed, his hand reaching to your face and pushing back the hair that was touching your frame. Your face was wet with tears, skin warm with emotions.

“I’m sorry.” He finally whispered, aware of how you flinched at his words, under his touch.

“I’m really sorry.” He repeated, voice hoarse and sincere, that it caused you to open your eyes and look at him for the first time that night.

Did he have to look that handsome as he broke your heart?

“Katsuki?” You whispered, his thumb caressing your cheek with a softness he only showed to you. “Did you rather be with them than me?” You finally asked, the question that was eating you alive the moment you noticed that he wasn't coming home.

“No.” He answered plainly, but that was all you needed to have a soft smile settle on your lips.

It took you a while to break your silence. “I didn’t burn the kitchen today.” You told him nonchalantly, as if nothing had happened, but Bakugou knew you too well, aware of how hurt you still were, and how you were trying to avoid it instead of confronting.

“I noticed.” He answered with a slight tilt of his lips.

“Are you hungry? I think there are some cookies in the counter-”

“Y/N," He stopped you. "I’m sorry.” Bakugou repeated, his words causing your eyes to water. He settled down next to you as you tried to hide the tears sliding down your cheek, pulling your face to his chest so you could hide your face from him. His arms wrapped around you, he settled his chin on top of your head, cooing soft words at you.

You were content with his caramel scented hands caressing your hair, and you face as if trying to etch it into his brain, with the soft gaze in those crimson eyes that looked at you with love and guilt, but it was oddly relieving to have him apologize.

“I’m sorry, love. I’m so sorry.” He whispered, and you sobbed and sobbed.

It was odd that whatever happened, it was always between his arms you found peace, felt safe.

“I love you.” He whispered into your hair after a while, after you had stopped crying, on the verge of sleep. “The food was good.” He smiled, his voice being the last thing you heard before you fell asleep, and he finally felt the tightness in his chest dissolve when he saw the shadows of your sadness on your face disappear, causing him to pull you even more towards him.

Whatever happened, even when you broke each other's hearts, having you between his arms was all you needed to mend a broken heart.

It’s Hard to be a Ball-girl (especially if the captain is Kuroo Tetsurou)

A/N: Yeah I still have requests to do, and I will get to them!! But I had to get this idea out of my mind and so I did with a 6.2k fic hehe

I don’t know why I feel really insecure posting this, I posted it twice and erased before anyone saw it lol but- yeah. Let me know if you like it or not, though! It might also be a bit messy since I first wrote it for Oikawa, changed it to Kuroo, wrote it from the beginning for Oikawa again, and erased everything and wrote it one last time for Kuroo lol I also have two tests for today and I’m really stressed ughh

pairing: Kuroo Tetsurou x fem!Reader

warnings: nothing! (I think, wow that feels weird) Maybe Kuroo being a big big tease?

Synopsis: After an unfortunate string of events -more like you being very bad at ditching your classes- you get a week of detention to be the ball-girl of the schools volleyball team, and it’s especially hard when you’ve promised yourself that after the last heartbreak, you will protect your heart from anyone that could break it. Though it might be a bit hard when the captain is the infamous Kuroo Tetsurou.

---

"Lev, what are you doing?" You heard a monotone voice call out, and although you couldn't see who exactly the owner of the voice, or who Lev was, you sensed it was trouble. "You still have receiving practice."

"There's someone here." A new voice answered. It was a deep voice with an accent, and somehow you felt it in your bones that he was going to find you. His words were your que to run before they discovered you.

"Yeah, no shit. There's a whole volleyball team here, minus the occasional fangirls." The monotone voice answered, but the boy with the accent didn't seem to mind, his footsteps getting closer and closer. You finally stopped trying to listen and started to move, trying to get out of there as quiet as you could-

"Ah- it's a kitty." The boy mumbled right before his hand caught you by the wrist, it had happened so fast, and you quickly realized how big his hand was. You squirmed and pulled, trying to free yourself from his grip, and you did manage to do that, only for his other hand to grip yours once again, he laughed at that. "No, little kitty, you can't get away from me."

It was only then you finally managed to see who the hand belonged to. He was huge, looking like he could bite your head off if he wanted to, the crooked smile on his face not making it any better, either. "I found a kitty, Kenma! Told you someone else was here."

He called to the little boy that stood a few meters away from you with a bored, though slightly shocked expression on his face. You wanted to tell him to let you go already, but the giant scared you so much that you felt like you couldn't even talk.

Not only that, but you also had no idea how he managed to find you since you had always thought that you were exceptionally talented at hiding.

Or maybe, just maybe, you weren't as talented as you thought since this was the third time you had been found as you tried to ditch your lesson.

But it wasn't your fault -this time-! You decided to run into the court when you noticed it was empty, how could you have known the team would come in, only a second after you did? Your only solution was to hide behind the ball basket, and yeah, maybe there were better options, but you couldn't think of any at the moment.

Though, you still cursed yourself for picking the boys volleyball court out of all places in the whole school.

"Kenma, Kenma, look! I was right!" The giant kept shaking his hands along with your wrist triumphantly. Now that you had a few seconds to think, you realized you knew who he was.

And if he was here, then it wouldn't be long until-

"Lev, go back to your practice, what are you even-" The familiar voice of the infamous captain came from right behind you, immediately stopping your squirmings and protests. "doing..?" His voice trailed off as he noticed your small figure- though anyone would have seemed small standing next to the 6'4 boy.

The boy holding you turned to the captain's way, turning you along with him and pulling you way too harshly, causing you to lose your balance.

You stumbled a few steps until you found your balance back, noticing the quiet giggle that came from the captain's way. The captain of the Nekoma volleyball team stood before you, his messy hair slightly damp with sweat, though he somehow managed to still look handsome. "Hey, hey, don't fall for me yet." He teased and held you by the arm to steady you, sending a charming smile your way.

You couldn't look him in the eyes, you could feel your face heating up as Lev's arm stood casually on your shoulders as if you were some kind of kitchen counter. "Hey captain, look what I found."

You had to bit your tongue to stop yourself from correcting him from not what but who.

You could feel the boy's sharp, golden eyes on you, wandering for a second or so. You didn't know if he would recognize you, didn't expect him to either since you never really had a conversation and only saw him around in the hallways, but you certainly didn't await him to sigh and roll his eyes. "Another fangirl?"

Another fangirl? You cringed at the words. Did he just-

"How do they even get in here? I really thought we handled it this time." Kuroo muttered, not sparing you another look. "Yeah, apparently not." Lev told him with a smirk and by gods was the smirk as scary as the one that Chucky doll had.

The quiet boy with blond hair had noticed your eyes widening and breath hitching whenever Lev turned to you or moved closer to you, so he sighed as he freed your wrist from Lev's hands that were the size of dinner plates (okay- maybe you were exaggerating a bit, but who could blame you? He had big hands).

"You're scaring her, Lev. Go back to practice."

"What?" He gasped dramatically. "But I wanted to keep playing with the kitty, too!"

"Can you stop with the kitty thing already?" You protested quietly, but when he turned to you with a huge smile, leaning forward and bringing your faces closer, you gulped. "What did you say?" He asked in a non-threatening-way that sounded way too threatening. "Nothing!" You answered back, and the quiet boy rolled his eyes.

"Lev, go away. I'm taking care of this." This sentence caused Kuroo's brows to furrow, quirking one up in question as he sent a glance your way, Kenma never offered help to people, certainly not to the ones he didn't know. "I, umm-" You started to say, not sure what to say in a situation like this. "I'm not really a fangirl-"

"Y/N!" You heard your name echoing in the gym, and you knew who it was. "Oh, shit! Quick, let me go before sensei finds me-"

"Don't you dare take a step." He shouted, instinctively knowing what you were thinking. Knowing him, you were smart enough to do as he said, so the only thing you could do was to rub your temples as you waited for him to come and scold you.

Maybe hiding in the volleyball court wasn't a good idea. Who could've known?

You. You should've known since it was the third time this weekNekomata-sensei had found you. And this time, he wasn't letting you go. Holding you by the nape of your clothes as if you were a stray cat, he pulled you free from the quiet boy's soft hands.

"You again?" Nekomata-sensei asked without even expecting an answer as he sighed dramatically. "What is this? The fourth time this week? I told you last time that if I found you ditching your class one more time, I wouldn't let you off the hook as easy."

"Third time." You muttered as you fidgeted with your hands.

"What?"

"It's the third time but-" the angry look on his face was your que to shut up. "It's not- it's not important." You mumbled. "I'm so sorry, Sensei, I promise I won't do this again!"

"You realize you said the same exact thing last time? No, you're not getting away this time." He repeated. "Umm, what's happening?" You heard Kuroo say, not even aware you had forgotten the presence of the two boys watching you get scolded.

You could almost hear Kuroo thinking, 'wait, isn't she a fangirl?'

Interesting, he thought. That makes it much more fun.

You did feel a bit better knowing he might be feeling ashamed about confusing you with a fangirl, but it still didn't help you get out of this situation. "Sensei, please!" You pleaded. "I promise I won't ditch any more classes, this will be the last time you see me!"

"You tell me, Kuroo. What do you think I should do?" The Nekoma coach turned the handsome captain's way, turning a deaf ear to your pleas. Kuroo sent a glance your way, a smirk starting to grow on his lips, the kind of smirk that caused your heart rate to pick up slightly.

"Well, you always make us the ball-boy for a month whenever we ditch practice, coach." He answered in a teasing manner, though his mocking smile quickly turned into surprise when Nekomata-sensei grunted in approval.

"You know, that's not a bad idea," Nekomata-sensei agreed with a thoughtful smile, causing you to blurt out in protest. "What?! You can't be serious!"

"Oh, but I am serious." He answered with a playful glint in his eyes, "I did tell you I wouldn't let you go easy if I caught you again, so help my team for a month, can't you?"

"But- but- but that's not fair!" You whined, ignoring the snickers coming from Kuroo's way. "Oh, it's fair, alright. We needed a ball-boy anyway." He told you with a pat on the back, the pat making you feel even more desperate, instead of the intended comfort.

"Oh, don't look at me like that." He told you with a grandpa smile when you sent him puppy-dog-eyes. "Fine, fine. I'll be merciful." He sighed. "You'll be the volleyball club's ball-girl for a week instead of a month."

"Sensei," you whined. "I don't even like running. I'll be the worst ball-girl you'll probably ever cross your way with."

"Oh, don't think so little of yourself, I'm sure you'll do just fine." He chuckled as he started to walk back to the benches, still laughing as he heard your whines, leaving you alone with the famous captain and desperation.

***

Three hours of the first day of you being a ballgirl had passed, and you had never noticed just how tiring it was to run after balls the whole day.

It was straight out of a nightmare, you were sure.

It would have been at least bearable if it stayed with just running after balls, too, but it was straight out tiring when Kuroo joined the equation. He was charming- really charming, and even though you knew that before this, you weren't aware of how effective it was.

"Oh, come on!" He whined. "I'm sorry for confusing you with a fangirl, but there are just a lot of them here and- You're being unfair to me!"

He was right, you had to give him that. You had even come to good terms with the giant that found you, Lev, you had talked to Kenma, and both of you seemed to enjoy each other's company. You were already in the same class as Yamamoto, and you just got along with everyone on the team whit the exception of Kuroo Tetsurou.

No one knew why you distanced yourself from the charming captain, no one dared to ask either. It wasn't that you were mean towards him, but the wall you had towards him was something you didn't have with anyone else.

But despite whatever reason had you running away from him, the whole team was aware of how their captain was determined to be friends with you. They noticed it by the extra breaks he was taking, always appearing right next to you in every break as he talked and talked, making jokes that were much worse than his usuals in desperate attempts of making you laugh.

"That is the last thing you should be apologizing for." You sighed as you sat on the bench and took a sip from your water. "What? Oh- yeah, I'm sorry for taking a part in you becoming our ball-girl, too, but if you look at it from the bright side-"

"Kuroo-san! Please just leave me alone." You finally snapped as he kept talking. You took notice of how his smirk suddenly dropped, a slightly hurt look in his pretty, golden eyes. Maybe you had taken it a bit far, and as you were about to apologize, he talked before you.

"Kuroo-san?" He repeated, and your eyes narrowed, trying to understand just what he was talking about. "Isn't that a bit too formal? I mean-"

"Oh my god," you groaned. So he was hurt about that?

"Look, I'm just trying to be a good captain and help my teammates. You're a part of the team now, after all." He winked.

You were at your limit, and apparently, even Kenma was aware of that, running -not actually- for your rescue. "Kuro (I did my research, and apparently Kenma calls Kuroo Kuro), I think that's enough." He told him with raised brows that said 'what are you even trying to do?', and Kuroo got the message, raising to his legs, groaning like an old man, too. He smiled one more time at you and walked back to the court.

"Hey, Kenma." You muttered as he sat next to you, not even aware of the pair of golden eyes that were watching you to see if Kenma would scoot away from you or show any of his anxious telltales. The captain's brows furrowed with interest when Kenma didn't shy away or play with his hands, the hem of his shirt, or anything, but greeted you back, instead.

"I see you're tired of our captain already," Kenma muttered with a quiet chuckle, which you answered with a groan. "I don't understand why he keeps nagging me for all these stupid things." You told him with a sigh, thinking of all the unimportant things he came to you with.

"There's an obvious reason." Kenma told you with a look that said you should be aware of what he was talking about, but he sighed when you looked at him blankly. "He's flirting with you."

"Oh, I know." You told him nonchalantly, causing Kenma to raise his brows in confusion. "I'm smart enough to not take it seriously, though. He's known to be a flirt, after all." You shrugged.

"He is?" Kenma asked, and you shrugged once again.

"I mean, yeah. He has a reputation and everything." You told him, sending a cautious look to the boy in question and felt your face warming a bit. You knew you would already be head over heels for him if you didn't know how much heartbreak could hurt.

You knew the type, the laid back smile, and the flirtatious, teasing personality not at all foreign to you, and after the last try that ended with a week of tears and bags and bags of snacks that weren't very healthy, you promised yourself you weren't going to fall into another trap again.

You never thought the next trap might be the Kuroo Tetsurou, though.

Kenma sent you a questioning look when you stood quiet, but didn't push you to tell what you were thinking. "I don't know about his reputation, but he probably isn't the kind of person you think he is." He told you as he stood up from the bench. "Many people take him to be this playboy, but he’s really just-" he suddenly stopped talking, feeling like he was telling too much as he took one last sip from his water bottle without finishing his sentence, smiling at you apologetically and going back to the court.

Only then did you notice the cat-like eyes watching your moves as if a tiger watching its prey.

Your eyes met for a second or so until the amber gaze softened into a teasing look, and he sent you a charming smile, the smile causing a warm feeling to settle in your chest. You thought of what Kenma told you, and you knew you would've believed what he told you if you hadn't seen this many times before. No, you thought, better cautious than sorry.

Biting your lips as you noticed the butterflies that formed in your stomach when Kuroo jumped to block Lev's spike, you knew you had to be more careful.

***

You were surprised when you noticed the next two days of being a ballgirl at Nekoma had passed a bit easier. You had started to enjoy being around the Nekoma boys, your fondness towards them growing each second you passed there, and it was would be unfair if you couldn't admit to yourself that it was a scary feeling.

Especially since you could feel your walls crumbling down more each time Kuroo teased, talked, or even looked at you with a grin. It was getting harder and harder to stay away from him, to remain neutral to his jokes, his flirts, to resist the urge to smile back whenever he looked your way and winked each time before he jumped to spike, to simply not catch feelings.

He was just so sweet, so funny, so smart but also dumb and he felt nothing like the guy you were always warned about. You remembered your friends warning you frantically when you told them about the situation, telling you to be on your guard at all times, that he was the big bad wolf.

You didn’t want him to be the big bad wolf, you wanted to believe him, to Kenma, to your instincts that told you he was different from everyone that broke your heart before, that you felt safe around him.

You did, you felt so safe and so happy, you always let your guard down, a part of you already too deep in this trap that was called Kuroo.

His flirts didn’t help either.

He was both really good and bad at flirting, it usually felt like he had no experience too, but that couldn’t be true. He was a goofy boy that had dumb chemistry jokes, instagram pick-up lines, cheesy maneuvers that somehow felt too cute.

You just wished for this detention to be over already, but you had to admit that you sometimes regretted it was a week rather than a month, too. Realizing you zoned out, you blinked a few times to shift back into reality, your eyes instantly found the amber ones that were looking your way with a mocking smile, butterflies in the pit of your stomach appearing as an instant reaction to his smile.

You had two more days to go -of course, you weren't going to spend your time as a ballgirl at the weekend, even coach Nekomata couldn't force you into that-, two more days of resisting the charm of the infamous captain.

You could do that, right?

***

It was already dark when the practice had ended, the thought of walking back home at this hour stressing you just a little. You had a friend walking with you these past three days, though today was even later than usual, so you told them not to wait.

Thinking about it now, it seemed like the better thing to do, to be a shitty friend and ask them to wait the past hours just to walk you back, though.

You sighed as you cast on your sweatshirt in one swift motion, hanging your backpack on one shoulder as you walked towards the exit and dialed a friend's number since you felt a bit more at ease as you talked with someone on the phone when you had to walk alone.

"Bye Kitty- I mean, Y/N!" Lev waved at you as he tied his shoelaces, correcting himself immediately as he remembered the last time he called you kitty and got an earful from Kuroo. You waved back as you put your phone back in your pocket since your friend didn't pick it up.

"Hey- Wait a second!" You heard someone call out. It was Kuroo, running towards you as he tried to pack his water bottle in his bag and catch up with you at the same time. Kenma was walking right behind him.

"Is anyone here to pick you up?" Kenma asked, and you shook your head side to side. "Then where are you going, Y/N? You didn't think we would let you walk alone, did you?" Kuroo teased as messed your hair, causing you to grimace and duck away from his touch.

"I'm tired enough already." You muttered as you tried to fix your hair, you heard him chuckle and felt your breath hitching in your chest. "The princess is tired, you heard that Kenma?" He teased, and you just sighed, missing the look Kenma gave Kuroo.

"So, uh- where do you live?" Kenma asked quietly, making both you and Kuroo realize you didn't have a clue where you were going. "Oh, I live near the library, ****** Street." You answered, earning a hum from the quiet boy.

"Would you look at that, t's pretty close to our neighborhood!" Kuroo told you with a wink only to see you groan. He liked it when you were angry, though.

"Since Kenma's house is the first on the way, we can drop him first." He continued, the thought of being alone with him making you grimace, though you couldn't ask them to drop you first.

"Uh, okay." You muttered quietly and fiddled with your fingers. To your surprise, the quiet ensued until you were left alone, and even then, Kuroo wasn't teasing and messing with you, but just making small talk.

When he looked like he couldn't take it anymore, he sighed, looking more serious than you usually saw him. "Do I make you nervous?"

"What?" You asked as you tried to understand how he could tell. Sure, you felt nervous next to him, but being alone was something else. He glanced at your hands that were holding each other, your fingers meddling.

"Kenma usually plays with his hands when he's nervous." He explained. "But you seem to be more on guard whenever I'm around, anyway." Wow, you thought, he was blunt. You weren't sure how to answer the accusation, especially since it was true, too, so you just stood there quietly, not able to look into his eyes.

"Look, if I ever did something that made you uncomfortable, that if I'm teasing you too much or ever just went too far, I-"

"No!" You exclaimed before you intended to. When he looked at you with confusion and hurt in his eyes, you took a deep breath. "No, it's not... I'ts not like that." You didn't mean to tell him that, but to let him blame himself for your insecure thoughts would be selfish.

"It's not like that?" He repeated and you shook your head, a lazy grin settling on his features slowly. You didn't look him in the eyes, your eyes settling on your hands as you just shook your head side to side, still feeling his amber eyes and the grin on his lips.

***

Wiping the sweat on your face with the back of your hand, you groaned when Lev missed another receiving ball, and the ball flew in the opposite direction.

Lev sent you an apologetic smile -even though you had gotten used to his gigantic presence, his smile still creeped you out just a bit- and you smiled back in a way of saying it's okay.

You ran across the room to collect it, only to hear a loud thump right next to your foot as you reached for the ball. You accidentally let out a shriek of surprise, dropping the ball in your hand and turning to where the sound came from, mouth agape. You realized it was a ball that landed centimeters away from you.

You looked around for a second until you noticed the teasing smirk on Kuroo's lips and his eyes on you, making you send him a glare. "Sorry!" He called out, not looking sorry the slightest, "It slipped out of my hand."

Of course, it hadn't slipped out of his hand, the ball was too precisely close to you, and even though you couldn't tell him that, Lev could. "Captain, it's a bad habit to lie, I saw you aiming the ball at her." He shouted with a playful smirk, winking at you as he did so.

You raised your brows at Kuroo, who wasn't smiling anymore, and you didn't miss the slight look of guilt in his eyes. It was your turn to tease him with a smile, and the whole team had stopped to watch what their captain would do. Since it was always Kuroo who teased people, it was odd to see him being the one poked fun at.

"Go back to your practice, Lev." He grumbled, "and since it's evident you haven't been paying attention to your practice, go ahead and run a few laps, too."

"What? Captain, that's not fair-" He protested, but the threatening look he received from his captain was enough to make him shut up.

"I'm just being honest, and look what I get!" He muttered as he started running laps, the sight making you chuckle.

Kuroo could swear he felt a bit betrayed at how you never laughed at him but kept laughing at Lev and the others. He wasn't stupid, he could see how you were running away from him, and even though now he knew it wasn't you disliking him, he was determined to solve whatever this was.

He was aware he had been showing you a little too much interest, too, and even if Kuroo hadn't noticed it himself, the looks Kenma sent him every time he talked to you would have already made him realize it. He knew what Kenma was trying to tell him, but he refused to acknowledge it. Kuroo wasn't crushing on you, he was just curious at why you stayed as far as you could from him.

Though he still had to admit he thought it was one of the cutest things to see you angry, and even cuter when you were smiling. He also did allow himself to admit he just liked to tease you, and talk with you, or even just be around you-

"Lev, think fast!" He heard your voice and snapped back to reality. He saw you grabbing a water bottle and throwing it to the white-haired boy, he watched as you laughed with glee when Lev caught the bottle without even missing a beat.

"That was so cool!" You exclaimed as you ran towards him. "Your reflexes are amazing. I'm really bad at this game, too." You admitted with a smile that just got on Kuroo's nerves. Lev stuck his chest out with pride at your words. "Lev- maybe you should run a bit more if you're insisting on slacking off." Kuroo told him as he approached you, his words causing Lev to run towards Kenma almost immediately.

Kenma sent Kuroo a glance, a glance you thought that meant 'fuck you for making me work more, especially with him' but actually meant 'jealous, huh?'

"Shut up, Kenma." He grumbled, making Kenma sigh. "I didn't say anything."

***

"Kuroo!" You protested as he sent another ball flying away, just to make you run. Kuroo looked at you with fake innocence, lifting his hands innocently.

"You're breaking my heart, Y/N." He told you dramatically. "Do you know how unmotivating it is to be scolded every time you miss a ball?"

"Think of it more of a wake-up call to actually start and hit the balls." You answered with a sigh as you ran to collect the next ball. "How mean." He teased, "it feels like you're telling me you can hit better than me."

You ignored the 'ooh' coming from Lev's way. You knew he was trying to make you take the challenge, and you were smart enough to know you couldn't beat Kuroo in his habitat, and being the smart boy he was, Kuroo was trying to make it so that it looked like it was you who challenged him in the first place.

"And this feels like you're trying to force me into making a challenge with you just so you can boost your ego." You told him and heard Kenma chuckle from behind you.

"So you accept defeat, how pathetic." Kuroo shot back, and you sent a glare his way. "It's okay, you don't have to be sad because I'm better than you." He cooed with a pat on your head. "Cause if that was the case, most people would have to be depressed." He added, his false(?) narcissism making you groan in frustration, and he chuckled as you started to walk away from him.

"Oh, don't run away from me, Y/N, I know you secretly like me." He teased, talking in a very Romeo-like way. You grimaced at his words -you could swear you heard Kenma muttering 'you're the one to talk'- as you just started to walk faster.

"I don't." You sighed as he easily caught up with his long legs.

"You do." He insisted with a grin. The truth was- you did. You liked hanging out with him, you liked it when he teased you, talked to you, stood around you. He made you feel safe, a false sense of safeness that you were afraid of feeling in the first place.

"I don't." You answered grumpily and wore your sweatshirt.

"You do." He spoke as he packed his gym bag.

"Don't!"

"Do."

"Kuroo, will you ever shut up?" You snapped, and he grinned wider. "I will if you just accept that you like me."

"No." You persisted and heard him sigh, but he didn't pester any longer. "I'll leave you be just because it's your last day tomorrow. Is there anyone here to pick you up?"

You looked outside and bit your lips. "No, but it's not very late, I can walk back."

"No way," He told you with a grin, and you cursed your heart that was beating rapidly in your chest. "I like walking with you."

He didn't expect an answer, though he was glad he got to see your smile that you tried to hide.

***

This time, Kenma wasn't around either. He had some stuff to do and wasn't going to be able to join the both of you. It was even more awkward than the last time you walked together, though.

You could feel the excitement radiating from him, he looked anxious, too, and to hide that anxiousness, he resorted to using very bad jokes that did nothing to the heavy awkwardness.

He was telling you something very irrelevant about the period system when he finally heard you sigh. "I'm not a very big fan of Chemistry." You told him with an apologetic smile. "But are you okay? You seem a bit... tense." He sighed at that, finally deciding to say what he wanted to say since he saw you the first time that day.

"Yeah, you usually are when you're trying to ask someone out, even more so when the girl you're trying to ask out is trying to get away from you most of the time." He joked, half expecting you to laugh, but chewed on his lip when you stopped in your place and looked at him, mouth agape.

"I-"

"I know you told me it wasn't like you didn’t lik me, but it still makes me nervous." He laughed. "Especially since I can't understand why, and I'm not telling you this because I want to force you into telling me but-"

"It's okay, It's just-" You sighed, waiting a few seconds and trying to gather the courage. "It's just... you're a charming boy, Kuroo." You admitted and regretted it instantly. His eyes looked at you for a second or so as if he couldn't process what you said, and it took him a while to pull his teasing act back again.

"I mean- I know I am, but I didn't expect you to... say it like that."

"No, what I meant is that you're charming, you have almost everything a girl would want-"

"What do you mean almost?"

"Shush for a second." You told him but didn't go on with your speech. You didn't want to tell him you were staying away from him in fear of falling for him.

"I think I know what you're trying to say," Kuroo admitted, and you felt both relieved and horrified that he could tell. "You're afraid you can't resist my charm." He grinned.

"Don't say it like that!" You protested, and he laughed.

"What I don't understand is- why? You told me yourself, I'm everything a girl could want-"

"That is not how I said it."

"And I like you. So what's the problem?" He genuinely looked confused, making you doubt if everything that was told about him was actually true.

"I know but- do you... actually like me? Like, like me like me?" You blabbered, cursing your insecurities as you bit your lips anxiously. "I didn't think I hid it that well." He chuckled awkwardly when you kept your silence.

"No, no- you didn't hide it at all." You muttered, and he made a face. "But I never thought you were... genuine."

His brows furrowed, trying to understand what that meant. "What does that even mean?" Well, shit. Now you had to explain that to him? "It's not really important, I just-" You bit your lip and looked away. "I didn't think you liked me...like that."

"Well, what did you think all that flirting was?"

"I thought you were just teasing." You shrugged with an awkward smile, and he looked at you like you slapped him. "Wow," he finally sighed. "That hurt. I never knew I looked like that to you. It's kinda disappointing, actually."

"Isn't it true, though?" You muttered, your eyes still fixated on your hands, afraid of his answer. He was a genuine guy, too proud to lie to you about who he was, and you knew Kuroo wouldn't hide it if he was the guy in the rumors.

He shrugged. "It's not." He told you and your eyes snapped up from your hands and found his eyes. "Many people think I'm this guy who has every girl falling for him, or that I'm this player and breaker of hearts," He joked, but it was evident he was hurt. "But it's not really true. Sure, I had some relationships in the past but-" He suddenly stopped talking, feeling like he was talking too much.

"It's um- It's okay, actually. I understand why you would want to stay away, though I never thought you would also believe the rumors." He went on when you didn't say anything.

"No- wait, Kuroo!" You held him by the hem of his shirt when he started to walk again, and you didn't want this conversation to be over here. Not when he just told you he was serious this past week, and it wasn't just a big joke for him.

"I like- I like you, too." You muttered, making him stop in his track. "Even though I tried to get away from you, resisted you with all my might... I still like you." It took you at least five minutes to even manage to finish your sentence, but he was patient, a smile growing on his lips with each word that fell from your lips.

"But you just told me you thought I was teasing you this whole time." He told you, half teasing half genuine, his words only making your face heat up more than it was. "Y/N, are you trying to tell me that you fell for me even though you thought I was just having fun with you?" He grinned. "My charm must be even stronger than I thought."

"I'll leave you here and run." You warned, but he didn't buy it. "Nah, I think you like me a little too much for that." He started to walk again, whistling a tune with a grin on his lips, leaving you behind utterly confused. You noticed his left hand sticking slightly back as if he expected you to- "Aren’t you coming?"He asked, a playful glint in his eyes.

You smiled, running to catch up and slipped your hand into his warm ones, feeling his slight squeeze fen he intertwined his fingers with yours.

Maybe being a ball-girl wasn't that bad, after all.
