I was really looking forward to wearing this gown that I think celebrates a perfectly normal human experience! Many of my fans are young women who may feel pressured by society to be embarrassed by periods. It’s empowering to teach young women about their bodies, encourage them to celebrate them AND to question people who tell them not to! My goal with this look was to normalize menstruation by looking sick’ning even if I was on my period! Instead, i decided to wear the beautiful quilted dress you saw in the episode because it is not my show, it’s Ru’s. On behalf of my own personal functioning uterus I APPRECIATE THIS LOOK! It’s a high-fashion concept piece that beautifully embodies femininity and periods (NOT to say that one is necessary for the other). Also Manila looks  FUCKING GOOD. Let the bitch wear what she wants.

Black Panther deserves to win the Oscar for best costume design based solely on the fact that it’s the only movie whose costumes haven’t been done and done and redone again. like i understand we all love the big poofy colorful fancy dresses of the 18th century but my god they’ve been done. Black Panther went above and beyond to incorporate various African tribes. Ms. Ruth E. Carter took her time envisioning designs based on a world untoucjed by colonizers, and the results are

modern

colorful

and aid in the movie’s storytelling in a way the costume design of the other nominated movies simply does not.

again, Black Panther deserves to win the Oscar for Costume Design and Ms. Ruth E. Carter deserves so much praise for the beautiful masterpieces she created
