“Ginny,” he clears his throat, “er, Ginny is coming over this afternoon.” 

Harry knows better than to look at his father with this bit of information, so instead, he locks eyes with his mother, attempting to communicate his desperate vulnerability. It’s too late, however, because Harry chose the worst time to share information, the breakfast table. 

“Did you hear that, Lils?” James reaches across the table, knocking on the wood in front of Lily. He clears his throat loudly before speaking in a much lower voice. “Erm, Ginny is coming over.” 

Lily bites her lip and shrugs at her son. Truly, he should’ve known better. 

“Just Ginny for this afternoon? Hmm, Harry?” James asks. 

“Yes, well, you know, she has been here before.” Harry stammers, cheeks blazing. 

“True, but not since you’ve snogged her on the quidditch pitch in front of the entire school.” James wiggles his eyebrows. Unfortunately, the gesture is lost on Harry, who has since placed his forehead firmly against the table. 

“I suppose it’s fine that she comes over, but I would like to have a quick chat with her about her intentions.” James muses. 

Harry’s head quickly snaps up. “Her what?”

“I would like to know what exactly Ginny’s intentions are. I think it’s only fair, I ask.” James leans back in his chair while crossing his arms over his chest. 

Harry stutters briefly before turning to his mother, “you’ll really let him get away with this?” 

Lily nods slowly. “I’m sorry, Harry. But we have a very strict parenting policy, we’ve agreed upon it for ages. James gives the intentions talk and I follow up with the safe sex talk.” 

Lily smiles broadly as the two men in front of her guffaw loudly. Each for separate reasons, one because of motherly betrayal and one because he is completely in love with her brilliant mind. 

“Mum! You - you absolutely can not be serious-”

“Actually, James, if you don’t mind, I think I ought to go first.” Lily lazily waves her wand, and a shoebox comes zooming across the room to rest in front of her. 

Harry looks at it in terror, James looks delighted. 

Lily lifts the lid and files through letters. Harry pulls at his hair before placing his head on the table once again. A defeated groan emanates from his slouched figure. 

“I think I recall one of these letters you asked for clarification on some contraception charms, hmm let me see.” 

“This is the best day of my life, truly,” James laughs, slapping Harry on the back. 

“Damn the world, and damn you too. Damn anyone that ever asked anything of him, damn anyone that ever took anything from him, damn anyone that ever prayed to his name. You know that he will give them everything until there is nothing left of him but the imprint of dust where his feet once trod. You know that he will bear the world like Atlas until his shoulders collapse and his knees buckle and he is crushed by all he used to carry. Dear God, you have already made an Atlas. You have already made an Achilles and an Icarus and a Hercules. You have already made so many heroes, and you can make another again. You can have your pick of heroes. So please, I beg you– he is all that I have, and you have so many heroes and the world has so many more. Let him be soft, and let him be mine.”

 “So…” His mum started. “How’re things going with Ginny?”

 He stopped a little, “…Not that bad I guess,” Padfoot and Moony moved like animals, pouncing on the chance to interrogate him. “Define ‘not bad’ to us,” Remus asked, his finger pointed at him, salt dusted on the tip of his fingers. 

 “Fine…”

 They all looked at him expectantly, hanging onto his very few words, waiting for him to continue. Sirius raised an eyebrow at him, Lily and Remus both motioned their hands signaling to him to continue. 

 Harry threw his hands up in exasperation, “We, held hands? And rode our brooms together?”

“Oh, for crying out loud! You know that’s not what we wanna hear, now spill it.”

 “Kinda weird that you wanna know so much about what two teenagers did,  alone , Padfoot.”

 “I’m not being funny, but I haven’t got all day sweet pea, we just want to know if you two idiots have actually sucked faces yet!” Remus smacked Sirius’s shoulder a little for being such a brute, Lily just giggled as she watched Harry’s face turn red. “Well,” They leaned forward, looking way too excited if you asked Harry. “Yes, yes we have,” Suddenly cheers and whoops filled the living room, high fives were being thrown around, which Harry quite frankly found insulting. They bounced slightly on the green suede couch the pillows flying everywhere. 

 “Tell us everything!” they bellowed and with one last yell, his dad and Ginny looked past the wall to see what was going on.

"For what it's worth Harry, I believe you. I know you didn't put your name in the goblet. It just doesn't sound like something you would do and I know you don't exactly like being the center of attention. Ginny said, softly looking nervous.

Ginny then continued "And don't worry Ron will get over it he's just being a prat and you know jealous."

"I don't Ginny I'm really worried it's over this time. "

"It's not, have some faith I'm sure he'll come crawling back soon."

"You really believe me?" Harry asked, shocked but relieved but most of all happy. Ginny nodded shyly.

"Wait, how did you know I don't like my fame...?" Harry asked, confused.

"It's the little things you do, your facial expressions and agitation, and how humble you are. It wouldn't make any sense for you to "Bask in Glory" or to go running into danger especially after everything that's happened to you. But I also know that you're willing to risk your life to save others, I think I'm a pretty good testament to that since well you did save my life once. And I'm pretty sure you've yelled it at least once, I also saw your face that was, complete and utter shock you couldn't have faked it. So that's why I believe you." Ginny said becoming red as a tomato after her ramble.

Harry smiled at her and got out of his chair and gave her a hug. "Thank You, Gin you do not know how much that means to me>" Harry said, pulling back slowly, 'God she's so beautiful wait I can't think like this, she's my best mate's sister. You know what I don't care anymore, it doesn't matter I'm allowed to like whoever I like no matter if i'm close with they're family.' Harry blushed about this, The possibility of him and Ginny.

"What?" Ginny asked, confused. "Nothing, just that I think you're beautiful and I was wondering if I could take you to hogsmeade some time?" Harry asked anxiously.

"Just because I'm beautiful?" Ginny asked teasingly.

"What N-no of course not!"

"I'm pulling your leg Harry, I'm joking I would love too!" Ginny said smiling, in her head she was screaming internally so excited and ecstatic. She could barely control herself.

"How about I pick you up at 12:00 tomorrow?" Harry asked.

"That's perfect. See you then Harry." Ginny kissed Harry on the cheek and left the common room leaving for her next class. Harry touched his cheek and smiled to himself.
