Some Things We Should Start Romanticising

some things we should start romanticising

bike rides, especially when listening to music. the wind in your hair, the songs in your ears, every sound being quiet and living in your own bubble of lyrics. (edit: in some countries this is illegal and it can be dangerous - i had not thought of that and i apologise)

sitting in a bus. you’re going back home, maybe you’re reading a book or just looking outside of the foggy glass.

making tea. warming up the water, bringing it to a simmer and closing the gas, pouring it into a ceramic mug, the perfume of tea leaves: it’s a ritual.

buying a new book. walking in a book store, reading the first page of a book that sounds interesting, choosing a book because of its cover, never having heard of that book.

reading the last page of a book. that one doctor who episode where the doctor says he rips the last page of each book he reads, reading the last line and feeling like all the air in your lungs is gone.

that one specific moment when you are coming back from a party and you’re walking the few last steps before getting home.

writing your name on a new notebook. scribbling messy letters or trying hard to make it look pretty.

tying shoe laces. where are you even going?

picking a flower. getting off the road and into a patch of grass just to pick a yellow wild flower, pressing it in a book, or putting it in a glass of water.

finally getting to bed. the cold bedsheets, closing your burning eyes, the small sounds of the city.

Back Off! H.S. AU! Coach Harry

image

Background: In this Harry (25)  is living with fame as a coach and he hides his money as best he can, but his generosity toward everyone, ruins it.

Summary: Coach!Harry brought a few students home to work on extra curriculars, it didn’t go as plan when they start hitting on his wife.

Warnings: none

MASTERLIST

3rd POV

Harry finished packing his bag, walking out of his head coaches office. He crossed the hall over to the boy’s locker room. He knocked on the door calling for Dylan. Illiana and Dylan Stevenson, the “Stevenson Twins” as they were called, had asked him for extra help to make their teams this year. He waited in the hall texting his wife y/n that he was about to leave the school and that he was gonna bring 2 of his students over to practice for a bit and they would stay for dinner. He gave her specific instructions NOT to cook dinner. He felt very obligated to make her dinner every night. It was only fair since she was home and cleaned the house and did the laundry all day, while he was at work.

Finally, the two of them were ready and they all walked to his car. He opened the trunk of his Audi and helped them put their equipment in. They chatted lightly and he gave them some info about his life outside of the high school he worked at. He told them about his wife and his home, 5-acre property with a basketball and tennis court, a guest house, and pool.

They drove through the woods and up to his secluded “oasis in the middle of the woods” as he called it. He parked the car and the children got out. They pretended not to be amazed at all by the fact that Harry could afford this on a teacher’s salary. Deep down both of these disgusting rich snobs were thoroughly impressed. Not even their CEO parents could afford this.

Hey Guys, So Just As A Heads Up, I Dont Think That Highlighting Your Already Made Notes Is That Effective

Hey guys, so just as a heads up, I don’t think that highlighting your already made notes is that effective unless it’s for aesthetic. However for many subjects like English classes or humanities, you are often given a bulk amount of readings and I believe that highlighting not only helps you digest the content but it also makes note taking easier afterwards. Though some people find it hard to figure out what they need to be highlighting so I’ve come up with a few ideas.

Hey Guys, So Just As A Heads Up, I Dont Think That Highlighting Your Already Made Notes Is That Effective

Terms often come into play when digesting a lot of textbook readings where ideas are being explained to you and often you will want this definition to be readily available when revising too so its good to highlight these when you come across them.

Hey Guys, So Just As A Heads Up, I Dont Think That Highlighting Your Already Made Notes Is That Effective

Key concepts can be really good to highlight when trying to understand scientific concepts within research articles or when reading persuasive texts as you can relate the material back to your core unit of work. Alternatively you can use concept to highlight the main idea of paragraphs or chapters to give you a quick reference of summary when studying.

Hey Guys, So Just As A Heads Up, I Dont Think That Highlighting Your Already Made Notes Is That Effective

I find examples to come particularly handy in studies which are applied to everyday situations, for example a law textbook may discuss a concept and give an applicable example which I would then highlight. Or in math you may highlight an example problem to help you if you get stuck later.

Hey Guys, So Just As A Heads Up, I Dont Think That Highlighting Your Already Made Notes Is That Effective

This highlighter was a godsend in my last exams, especially for history because I’d be reading so many historians and articles and when it came to writing essays it would only take me seconds to find a good reinforcing quote as I’d been highlighting them all along. Or even in English you can highlight quotes from reviews or scholars to be used to back up your argument.

Hey Guys, So Just As A Heads Up, I Dont Think That Highlighting Your Already Made Notes Is That Effective

This one is mainly for English and literature studies because when analysing devices and giving examples of these it helps when they are already highlighted. It’s all about studying smarter not harder and getting things done efficiently so this step really has helped me out.

Hey Guys, So Just As A Heads Up, I Dont Think That Highlighting Your Already Made Notes Is That Effective

Again another more humanities point as you often have to create a mental catalogue of people involved and the context of situations to understand the severity of moments in history. Though in science and other subjects it’s always good to know what pages are talking about what professors or scholars or historical figures.

Hey Guys, So Just As A Heads Up, I Dont Think That Highlighting Your Already Made Notes Is That Effective

Finally, in many subjects you are expected to produce a mental timeline of events especially in history and it becomes confusing to pinpoint events and dates together so this step helps to take the labour out of that situation.

I hope this helps you guys out. I also like to just make a key for my highlighting that I use for a bookmark, that way I can constantly refer to it. Message me if you have any ideas or things you want me to post about.

Thundering claps echoing around in euphoria. The brightest lights imaginable. The adrenaline rushing through your veins. The stage had always been your dream. To be able to give people one night of entertainment and leave them gawking at the wonders of what they have just seen. The world of theatre is nothing short of difficult, you know that. The competitiveness is worse than that during a football game. People are usually not afraid to screw others over just to get themselves on top. It’s hard for you to deal with the betrayals and thoughts of possibly messing up someone else’s career. You would never do that to someone, but every time you audition, you fear that someone would do it to you. At auditions, you portrayed your best self and it’s always almost worked out in your favor.

Your next audition was a particularly important one. The Winter Garden Theatre was holding auditions for the revival of Pippin, an older musical, but a good one. You always loved the music of Stephen Schwartz. You prepared for the audition for two months, watching the musical a handful of times to get a grasp on the best character for yourself. You decided the character of Catherine, the love interest that only appears in the second act, would fit you best. Now, you sit on the cold metal chair in the waiting room outside of where the auditions are taking place. After glancing around at the other nervous actors, you feel your shoulders relax. Everyone is stressed, no doubt. You are not alone. However sitting and watching the audition door open and close made your hands shake. Your heart was beating out of your chest. Your breathing became uneven when a woman walked out of the room crying her eyes out. You sit in the waiting room for another hour, your stomach doing flips as you wait for your name to be called.
