Dealer Is One Of Lana's Best Songs Because She Sounds Absolutely Feral (in A Good Way). Most Of The Time
dealer is one of lana's best songs because she sounds absolutely feral (in a good way). most of the time her songs are a composed heartbreak. they're demure and wistful because she's allowed to be, and almost forced to be, demure.
in ultraviolence she talks about the reality of romanticized violence (he hit me and it felt like a kiss). in happiness is a butterfly the only thing she wants is for him to love her back (i just wanna dance with you). both are amazing songs, but both of them feature the narrator either settling for a toxic love or pleading for the bare minimum engagement.
but in dealer, she is actually begging for something beyond just her lover and beyond the bare minimum. she wants effort and she wants to recieve the same energy she is putting into the other person.
