Thank you. This has bothered me about shipping discourse for some time. The confidence with which people say things like "ShIPpINg Is SuPpOSEd tO bE FuN" "they are freinds with no boundaries so it just looks gay" "it's Kpop of course they want to excite their shippers" and "they know how to get their fans talking" is amazing. If someone thinks a straight man using the suggestion of queerness is an unproblematic way to get $ out of lgbtq fans and horny cishet girls and women because m/m ShIPpiNG iS a FuN HoBby I don't know what to say to them. So I won't say nothing. It's fine. Do you. Those fans aren't going around killing people. We can disagree. But they aren't any more objective, logical, or unproblematic than anyone else. They just want someone to feel mad at. They want to read their gay sex fanfics but also see men they find hot validated by a society that hates LGBTQ people.

Something I have also noticed is that some shippers ship two members because of the desire/fantasy of two male idols having a relationship. But only in their fantasies/imagination. It's fine to fantasize about two men having a relationship but when a person says they genuinely believe that, that for them it's not a "wish or fantasy" they are immediately labelled as delusional or weird. Because how could you think that two famous men could actually be LGTBI+?

Another argument they use is: How dare we to even insinuate that they might be LGTBI+ on social media?! That we should understand that people outside the fandom are going to read that and could believe is true and that could harm the members!🙂😐

It would be ideal to think that their concern is genuine because unfortunately we do live in a stupid, selfish and homophobic society and they live in a country where that thinking is normalised but, we know that they don't say it because of that. They say it because they can't even contemplate the possibility that one or more of the members might be LGTBI+, that that possibility might be real.

Will miss Bangtan a lot, but damn, I'm so fucking happy that they're getting a break they deserve so much. I hope people stay far away from them and give them the space and privacy they need.
