fucking got put on blast in front of a bunch of important people like a year ago because i DARED to suggest that we have a plant rescue plan because that would be GIVING UP and KIDS THESE DAYS HAVE NO BACKBONES because i was A PRIME EXAMPLE OF WHY CONSERVATION IS FAILING and now we have to dig through waste piles of gravel left by the bulldozers and try to save anything bulldozed plants that hopefully are still alive because WE DIDNT HAVE A FUCKING PLAN AND WE DID ASLDFJALKJFJDSLFJLADJLFAL IM NOt made for conservation im so angry specifically at stephen fucking packard fuck you old man

Today I was part of what could generously be called a plant rescue operation. Bell Bowl Prairie, an old-growth remnant prairie, was bulldozed by the Rockford International Airport just for the fuck of it. Then they left the mounds of crushed earth lay in the open for three weeks before allowing anyone to come save anything still living. There’s something very strange and sad about wearing ancient prairie dirt all over.
