I agree. I meant to say in my last post re: Renfield that his going back to the flies makes me think my earlier belief that he was somehow influenced by Dracula long distance was wrong. I thought Ren's eat-living-creatures thing was due to some sort of psychic influence from Dracula. But if when Renfield loses hope in Dracula, he returns to the flies, then the fly/eating living creatures fixation must be all Renfield, and predate Dracula. That's surprising to me. I just figured all the strangest, most disturbing aspects of the novel would be Dracula's fault. Not sure what to make of this.

wait a second is Renfield not just a madman serving as a plot device through some weird mirroring/some kind of thrall to Dracula but like..... an actual vampire himself? Is that why he puts up such a huge fight when he gets into altercations and gives his food to critters so he can then eat the critters? does his food need to be alive and that's why he wants animals to eat? but if that's the case then why doesn't he just... eat the other patients? maybe the docs and nurses? i am confused.

Okay so I *know* Mrs. Westenra is deathly ill. I still kinda resent that she was so quick to distance herself from her daughter.

listen... what you need to realize... for the next section of dracula daily, starting with today's entry... what you need to understand is that Lucy's blood type is AB+. she is a universal recipient. it's not stated anywhere in the book, the idea of blood types is never mentioned, but it's true. accept this truth into your heart and the efficacy of her treatments will be much easier to accept
