Some of my chics and geeks may know that I had thyroid cancer back in 2022. Some of you may be friends and family and already know what I'm about to say. Well... I was diagnosed yesterday with breast cancer. I'm scared and upset, and a little frustrated because what if this interferes with all the Chez Geek plans... but I beat cancer once. If it wants the smoke again, I'll light the fires.

Welcome to 2024

Let's talk about the game plan.

I'm going to try to get Chez Geek out into the public eye much more this year. That means a lot more events and trying to get into storefronts again. (Fun fact: when I first opened, I took the super sad looking prototype of Breakwater to a bunch of local gift shops in the hopes that they would take one look at that and welcome me in as a vendor. It didn't work.) So what's set in stone so far? February: Starting on the 1st and running until the 14th, there's a Valentine's sale on the website. Treat yourself, your friends, your partner - whichever you choose, enjoy a 20% discount off your order! May: there will be a small Mother's Day collection dropping on the 1st and a sale running from then until the 12th for 20% off your order. July: Starting the last week of July (the 28th or 29th) the website storefront will shut down as I attend the Maine Lobster Festival from the 31st to August 4th. The store should reopen August 6th: I'm going to continue to give myself a day off after to just assess and figure out what needs to happen next. (Especially since I keep selling out when I sell there...) September: Here's what I'm really excited and nervous about. Chez Geek is finally doing the Geek part and going to a convention!! I'll be at Granite State Comic Con in Manchester, NH on the 21st and 22nd. There's a few other balls in the air right now, so I'll update when I know how they land. For now I am thrilled about how this year looks so far and I hope you are too!!

Chez Geek Soaps Wrapped 2023

A bit late but I hope you'll forgive me. Let's talk recap, shall we? In 2023, Chez Geek Soaps did the following: - sell at a whole lot of local events; - my first ever soap for charity in response to the events of October 25th, and thanks to my fantastic community of chics and geeks I was able to donate $100 to the Lewiston-Auburn Area Response Fund; - join the first ever Makers Market in my hometown and start participating in events thanks to that association; - launch a few new products like our Bathmallows and Beard Oil; - and finally, just keep selling really awesome soap to really awesome people. You helped me grow my business even bigger this year, so thank you so much for that. SO... WHAT'S NEXT? Well now that I've had a little holiday break, it's time to start working on the vision for this year. In person events are where I sell best, so I'm going to make it a point to try and get to as many of those as possible this year. To add onto that idea, I would like to work on featuring the Geek in CGS at one or more of those events. (I don't want to get ahead of myself, but I have one in mind that I'm actively workshopping a soap set for!) I'm ready to start really testing some waters this year. I hope you'll join me!
