also idk how to explain this but the continual "you dont know them/its just an image/it's all fake" about idols specifically rubs me the wrong way and contributes to the narrative that there can never be anything real or authentic out of the industry and that they're all just 'trained robots' which is just untrue. everyone has a public image, even the cashier at your grocery store that's just...how life works, but the way its used against idols in such a way is.....gross and strange and is just an opposite extreme to putting them on a pedestal
