Hello, I am Bilal.
My life, like the lives of many, has been divided between two places. My family is now divided between Gaza and Egypt, and each part of it carries within it stories of pain and resilience. Gaza, where part of my family remains, witnesses daily the bitterness of life under siege and constant fear. However, it is their home that they cannot easily leave.
As for me, I was displaced with some of my family members from Gaza to Egypt. The decision was difficult and costly; we paid a heavy price not only financially, but emotionally as well. The cost of displacement was heavy on all of us. Our arrival in Egypt was not the end of the suffering, but rather the beginning of a new phase of difficulties.
Life in Egypt is not what we expected. It is difficult and very expensive. Everything here requires money; from the simplest daily needs to costs that cannot be easily afforded. Because we do not have residency, it has become necessary to deal with complex and difficult circumstances. Every day we face a new challenge, and every day we try to adapt to our new reality.
Despite all these challenges, we try to find our way in this exile. Life in Egypt is not what we hoped for, but it is our current reality. We are trying to adapt to this new life, yet our hearts remain attached to Gaza, where we left part of our family and dreams.
We are here, trying to maintain what remains of our dignity amidst these circumstances, and we know that the road is long and difficult. But we continue, with the hope that one day we will find the stability we are looking for, whether here or in our homeland that still lives in our hearts.

Due to the tight closure of all exists out of Gaza, prices have blown up and this has of course affected òur financial stability and budget changing all our plans and preparations of evacuation to safety. 😓😓😓
Previously we were trying to gather donations for evacuation purposes but the blockade of Rafah crossing point disabled us to move anywhere, leaving us stuck in the war zone encountering all forms of tortures, pain and suffering.
Hence, we unfortunately got stuck in Gaza due to this sudden incident and now we are swamped ìnto debts forcing us to use the gofundme donations for the daily expenses including food, water, hygiene essentials, and for other purposes. A matter that has forced me to raise our gfm's goal from 35000 to 50000. One can't predict what will happen later! They are limited to one small meal a day and one shower a week. They are sleeping on the floors, but no one can sleep since there is bombing everywhere around them. Even when there is no bombing, they can still hear the loud buzzing sound of the military planes above them, which would keep anyone who hears it awake. Along with everything, My grandma has diabetes and osteoporosis, so she can’t walk. We had a beautiful house in which I lived with my family, but now our house was destroyed and we left our area and became displaced, and now we live among garbage and snakes.
When I want to get drinking water, it takes between 4 and 6 hours, and when we prepare food, it takes between 3 and 4 hours, and we have no light or electricity.

Censorship surrounding topics of Palestine is nothing new - but in the last few months there has been an alarming increase in censorship, where artists have their exhibitions shut down, universities are setting up barriers to knowledge about Palestine, highly unserious articles with very serious accusations about academics are popping up, ... Now two lectures on Palestine were canceled, and another scholar was just uninvited for what he posted on his social media (pro-Palestinian content). A previous protest letter from the academic community was ignored by the University, and a recent sit-in there was met with an unnecessarily high number of police who intimidated the small group of protesters. Why/How does the University of Vienna do this? Basically, any public criticism of the Israeli government is misconstrued as antisemitism. Then, the University disinvites the academics in question and cancels lectures, or forces lecturers to "adjust" their content. Scholars are being muzzled. The University doesn't want its students to learn about various perspectives on Palestine. Mind you, this is a public institution we're talking about.
The petition is intended to show the University that people disapprove of these practices. The argument of "safety" is brought up all the time, but at the same time, the University gladly erects barriers between their students and the valuable knowledge that would foster critical thinking and understanding. Palestinians are directly affected by this deadly apathy, and Muslim and Jewish people everywhere suffer from heightened antisemitism and islamophobia fueled by misinformation and myths. And at the end of the day, censorship is nothing but bad academic practice. It is an attempt to shape the minds of students by making information harder to access and to exclude scholars who talk about/are from Palestine. It's discrimination against Palestinians and it's shameless instrumentalization of Jewish trauma.
Anybody who is concerned can sign. Please share widely with any and all communities! The petition should go international! Every signature counts.

Freedom was proven throughout history not to be achieved through kneeling and asking the oppressor to kindly stop. Freedom needs to be taken by force. Fuck dude. Seeing all these Palestinian people sharing videos of themselves and their family before everything is making me tear up a bit. Remember that Palestinians aren’t a statistic. That one person that died was someone’s father, brother, sister, mother, child, friend, lover, or someone’s reason to continue living. Everyone in these clips and photos you see online had jobs, had dreams, went to school, played outside with their friends, made art, loved one another, helped there friends, owned pets, had plans for the future, had achievements they were proud of. Each life lost is an absolute tragedy.
There’s no replacing everything around you that you love. Don’t think that Palestinians can just replace everything that they loved.
