i turned 18 this year and i remember the 2012 election about the same way as i remember the broncos/seahawks super bowl: "wow this is a color-coded competition on tv. guess i'll root for whoever my parents like." i don't remember what happened, i just remember who won.

There are people who will be old enough to vote this year who don't remember a presidential election without Donald Trump as one of the candidates.

the electoral college does change how much your vote matters (depending on what state you live in), but it does still matter. even if you live in a state that's very likely to go a certain way, that never means the vote is 100% assured.
