Blender? I don't even know her. Just one swimmy boi trying to be an engineer and figure out how this whole 'art' thing works.

Hey Civ I Have Some Top Of The Shelf Prime Facts Of Echo... Somebody Died In The Mines Once! The Pipes

hey civ i have some top of the shelf prime facts of echo... somebody died in the mines once! the pipes were made of lead until 2000 something! oh and you should check your left rear tire wink wink ;]

I had heard of the mines thing! But I didn't see any bodies when I was exploring it last time I was here and explored those, though I didn't go too far so maybe I missed it.

Also on lead pipes! They aren't dangerous as long as they don't corrode. Many cities around the US still use lead pipes from old days (modern pipes can't use lead, instead they're typically ductile iron or PVC), you just gotta keep things that corrode lead out of the water and you don't have any issues. Though for Echo, I'm gonna assume they are corroded. Good thing I brought water with me.

Also I'll check my tire in a minute, let me finish my sandwich. It was fine a second ago when I crawled into the bed.

The Sandwich

The Sandwich

This is an object of anti-horny thoughts. You cannot think of dirty-minded things while looking at this sandwich, you can only think about how good a sandwich sounds right now.

You are now going to make a sandwich.

Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th Of July!

Rant below the cut.

As an American, I know there's some pretty mixed feelings on our country, especially from other Americans. But let me tell you my standpoint, mainly speaking here to other Americans:

To love this country is to want to see it made better. If you think we're not doing great, you'd probably be correct. But the fact that you can reflect on that are good signs that you still care for the country you live in. That you want things to change for the better.

So this 4th of July, let's celebrate the things we've won as a nation. But on the 5th of July, and every day after that, let's remember that our nation sits at a tentative state and its our job to make sure it continues to improve. Vote in all elections (both the big and the local ones are really important!), be politically active, go to things we've won like Pride events, or simply support the people who do vie for a better America. They are so important to improving this nation and prove how American you really want to be.

And for those who think voting and being active isn't worth it, I'd like to remind you that the people who want to ruin this country WANT you to not vote. For the second enough of us join together, their plans to line their pockets and suck our nation dry fall apart. It isn't perfect, I won't forget that, you can probably name hundreds of times the system has failed. But it won't get any better if you don't do anything, and really, without action, it'll just get worse.

And for everyone not of the US: Hi, sorry, we should be back to normal by next week. Please excuse our raucous noise and overbearing enthusiasm for just a moment.

Happy Independence Day everyone!

What CAD software would u recommend?

I’ve done a bit with Onshape for school, but I get free Solidwoks, and I’ve heard good things about fusion 360

It depends on your intended use, and even then I have little experience beyond Civil 3d. It's very unlikely that a single CAD software will do everything possible, so it's up to use case.

Civil 3d and AutoCAD are great for plan sets and civil work. Drawing simple things is it's best use, and drawing them accurately for sites based on bearings, distance, and surveys is where it excels. It's even got tools for grading, simple drainage modeling tools, road building, etc.

However, it's not a great 3d modelling tool. Solid works is a very common tool for parts manufacturing which requires 3d modeling, I'd call this the Mechanical engineer's program. It can do material testing and other mechanical things. Fusion 360 is the same way.

Since I don't do mechanical work, I have no suggestions to give on those. When it comes to 3d modeling softwares, I just use Blender, even for mechanical 3d printing purposes. It's free and no more complicated than I need it, though it makes a poor CAD software for engineering-related business.

Apologies for not being more helpful. Each field of engineering is so varied from the next one over that each field has it's own selection of programs to choose from.

Sandwich Time!

Sandwich Time!

If it ever seems like I've gone off the deep end (I.E.: horny posting, too many lewd arts, etc), I request that you inform me that it is sandwich time. This will set off a sleeper agent telling me to make a sandwich render instead of whatever the next lower-brained thing I was going to do.

Otr Wtr

Get your Otr Wtr, the most refreshing water this side of the river!

Otr Wtr

Now selling at boutiques, airports, and pet stores! Only $6.99 a bottle!

Details and additional render below:

Learning Log: less learning and more making better use of features. I made use of the sapling tree generator several times for the branch and grass, noise textures for materials to make them better, and physics sims for the bubbles. If anything, its just a good sign that I'm learning the program well instead of learning anything specific.

It's been a minute since I pulled out the ol' graphic design skills from high school, but I think I nailed the 'bougie, pretentious, modern simplism-style label'.

I spent probably an inordinate amount of time on this, and it started as a joke name from @kabandcoyote, calling me Otter Water since I'm an otter (duh) and do a bunch of water-related work for engineering. And thus Otr Wtr was born.

Also: WHY IS UNDERWATER SO HARD. I STILL HAVEN'T FIGURED IT ALL THE WAY OUT YET DAMMIT. WHY DID I CHOOSE TO MAKE ART ABOUT THIS DAMN LIQUID SO MUCH WHEN ITS SO MUCH HARDER THAN ANYTHING ELSE. WHY IS SWIMMING AND WATER MY THING.

Closer Up Render:
