Glitter and Glass: Christmas Drabble

Warnings: 💕 none! There is a kiss, of course, and poor Namjoon beating himself up, but other than that nothing big!

Note: You and Namjoon are attempting to decorate for Christmas last minute to surprise the guys. While he’s great at handing the hanging and the cleaning, Namjoon severely struggles while handling delicate ornaments and he decides to make it up to you after!

“Joon! That looks amazing!”

He’s perched atop a chair, somehow his height not quite enough for him to hang the garland just right. He’s desperate to get it perfect before the group gets back from Christmas shopping. The place already looks incredibly festive, and you’re tag teaming, you assembling the tree and opening the tons of boxes of ornaments he purchased.

He has eager hands tonight, though, and as soon as he has the string of lights wrapped around the garland and hung, he plugs it in to look at his handy work. “I’m not so bad at this!” Coming to stand beside him, you smile. “It’s amazing! Oh! I brought these. Find places to hang them!” He examines the bits of mistletoe you hand him, and raises a brow. “And just who do you think we will be kissing around the house?” You giggle. “I don’t know! I’ve seen you guys do it as dares. And it’s only until the 1st! So... maybe you’ll be lucky and won’t have to kiss anyone?”

As you head back to the tree, he bites his lip. There’s someone he wants to kiss, but he has to hang the damn mistletoe first. Once that’s done, he calls you to look at it again, but before he can set it up for you to come under it, the sound of the guys returning crashes his plans. “Dammit.” He mutters as you run to help them get in with armfuls of bags and boxes. “No! Y/N, get away! You can’t see!”

Jimin runs for his life with a massive bag and you giggle. “I told you not to get me anything!” Mistletoe forgotten, you’re back by the tree, and Namjoon sighs wistfully, before making his way back over. The first few ornaments go on smoothly. His mind begins to wander though, and he fumbles a bright red glass bauble with glitter in it, the ornament shattering as soon as it hits the floor. Yoongi and Hoseok are giggling with Jin as they unpack the groceries, and Namjoon’s pout makes you coo over him, broom and dustpan in hand.

“Joonie, it’s ok! I broke one too! Don’t worry.”

You spoke too soon. In the next thirty minutes he’d managed to kick (and step on) the same box, crushing all but one, dropped two more, and nearly knocked you and the tree over whole moving around it. “Fuck, Y/N, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t be doing this. I suck at stuff like this and I’ve ruined so many ornaments...” You’re shaking your head now, helping him pick up the pieces. His wince and grumble of pain signal your worry and the sight of him tugging a shard from his fingertips make you pout. “Oh, Namjoon. Come here.”

Playing doctor for only a moment, you had to laugh at how careful he was. Practically tip toeing around the bathroom, anxious and afraid to break anything else. “Joon, look at me...” you ask, and he nods, finally meeting your gaze as you finish wrapping the bandaid on his finger, and then tip your head. “What’s got you in such a frenzy? They’re just ornaments... and there’s no rush! The guys are already here. Let’s just finish it...”

He sighs. “I wanted it to be perfect. And just us. Like... time for me and you only.” You catch the shy dip on his voice, and smile brightly up at him. “Just us?” His eyes finally focus on you again and he nods. “Yeah...” Humming, you take his hand. “Ok. So... just us. We can ignore the others and pretend they’re not here.” He’s grinning, but as you lead him down the hall, he stops you, tugging you back into him. “Wait..”

You turn, confused, and then follow his gaze up to the mistletoe above you. He’s blushing now, and you feel the same. “You picked good places for this...” he laughs, and drags you closer by your waist, fingers gently threading through your hair. “Let me at least do something right tonight.” And the kiss he lit you up with was definitely right. It was perfect, your toe popping and everything. Hearing giggles from behind you, you turn to see Jimin and Jungkook wide eyed and red faced, surprised to see their leader and you lip locked. “Thanks for warning is about the mistletoe. And... Merry Christmas!”

Burying your face in Namjoon’s chest, you end up laughing as he follows, the two of you giggling as the younger two disappear, before you tug him into another kiss, occupying that space in the hall for a few more minutes. “Now...” you started, nose brushing against his, “How about you give the tree one more shot? I’ll help you.” And he agreed, promising to let you guide him. Surprisingly, he didn’t break a single ornament after that, the two of you finishing the tree with a star before going to dinner with the others.

“I can’t feel my legs.” 

“It’s warm inside.” 

“Hug me so I can get warm.” 

“Merry Christmas, you dork!” 

“Eggnog rules, bite me.” 

“Wake me up when Winter’s over.” 

“We’re snowed in!” 

“I guess someone’s not getting any use out of that slutty Santa outfit they bought.” 

“You know, you remind me a lot of the Grinch. The only difference is in the end, his heart grows three sizes, but you stay an asshole.”

So... I wanna write a cute Christmas themed Drabble...
