Let's build a posthuman utopia with lots of advanced technology, like robots, self-driving cars, and new medicine. But let's also build cathedrals, Gothic and brutalist architecture, trains, and underground tunnels.

How to show character in dialogue

By picking the right words, you can make anyone go from a ditzy sidekick to a dark, dangerous villain

—Slang

Setting specific slang, internet slang, or weird slang that they make up on their own can show more laid back characters, or you can make them culturally aware of their surroundings and the type of people who are local to the area.

—Voice pitch

This isn’t too important, but it is something to consider. Does the bad-boy love interest have a husky, seductive voice 24/7? Or do they sound like a text-to-speech robot? Regardless, you can show character by either making them irresistible to most, or they can be painfully aware that their voice doesn’t match and they have to go an extra mile to get people to move past it.

—Eye contact

Looking someone dead in the eyes can mean mature, intellectual types, or the creepiest person you’ve ever met depending on what they’re saying and what the rest of their body is doing. Are they firmly holding on to important documents, speaking clearly and sternly, or do they get way too close, breathing heavily and speaking in a raspy, dry voice as their eyes bulge out of their sockets?

—Posture when talking

Someone slouched over a chair and staring at the floor while mumbling to whoever’s nearby isn’t going to be as feared as someone who stands tall and proud, as if their own shadow was to command an army as they grip their weapon that looks small compared to their massive, demanding presence.

—Emphasis on certain words or phrases

Italics and reusing specific words signals to the audience that this is important. Maybe it foreshadows something down the line, or can come off as self-aware to something the character says constantly.

—Stuttering

I’m just going to end this by saying please don’t do the “b-b-b-b-b-b-but” thing. Instead, if you’re trying to make the character seem shy or embarrassed of something, have them quietly mumble, tripping over words and sentences and accidentally repeating things. I don’t want to draw too much attention to it because it’s something a lot of people say but it’s important to me. Someone who stutters constantly because despite speaking English my whole life, I for some reason can’t speak it well.

Objects decay. Information decays. Let's periodically reiterate obvious concepts as a safety measure.

Turning positive traits negative

here are some options you can use to make more complex, real characters

—Optimistic

Refuses to get serious about certain subjects, mocks those who don’t always share their positive viewpoints, says stuff like “if you’re depressed, just be happy 😃”

—Neat

Can’t handle their space being in any other condition, very preoccupied with how they appear rather than how they behave, can’t hold back their tongue if there’s a sock out of place in a friend’s bedroom

—Open

Some things don’t need to be said. They say those things. Every other sentence.

—Effective

Very mission oriented not ‘care about people’s feelings’ oriented. One of those co-workers who makes everyone look bad because they come in early and stay late so everyone kind of already doesn’t like them.

—Leadership

Doesn’t let anyone else take the wheel, as well as controlling when the situation doesn’t require it. Also could be someone who demands praise for their work as well as always being seen as number 1 (could be a cult leader).

—Honest

The type who tells the truth when you show off a new outfit and you ask for their opinion. Believes that fact is greater than feelings and it will get many people mad very, very quickly.

-Wholesome/innocent

Drags other people down to make them feel ‘dirty’ because of the life they lead. Knows that asking people about certain subject matters may make them uncomfortable, but does it anyways to show off just how 🧚🏻‍♀️💕pure🧚🏻‍♀️💕 they are. If you’re struggling with this, watch a bit of those tradwives videos (keep in mind, not the normal ones minding their own business.)

—Imaginative

Comes up with the WORST, most horrific, terrible fates for everyone. Gets really defensive/rude over their work. Thinks that they’re the next big thing in whatever field they’re working in.

—Selfless

Instantly throws themselves in front of danger and doesn’t think about the consequences of their own actions. Could fall victim to situations where they’re forced to take the fall every time while someone else walks right over them.

—Confidence

Can lead to selfishness, over abundance of pride, stubbornness and unwilling to admit wrong doings/beliefs/actions.

—Extroversion

Unable to understand proper boundaries that others have set, tries to bring people out of their comfort zone even when unnecessary, rude.

—Intelligence

One of those nerds that every class has that reminds the teacher of the homework, looks down on those less intelligent and doesn’t care of the social/economical/personal reasons as to why they don’t share the same intellect, prideful.

—Kindness

Nativity, allows the wrong people to walk free, toxic positivity, doesn’t want to understand how some people may just be evil, leading the team into multiple dangerous, avoidable situations.

—Romantic

‘Doesn’t take no for an answer’, makes people uncomfortable, overwhelms people with fantasies of romantic dinners/adventures despite it still being the first date, moves too fast for their love interest.

Writing extreme emotions

How to convey specific feelings in an in-character way

—Body language

How do they behave? Are they jumping around and cheering, or do they quietly shake their fist in rage as they stare through the other people? Depending on the character, one can mean a lot more than another. For example, a quiet, shy character getting worked up means a lot more to the audience because we get to see a new side to them

—Breathing

Obviously everyone breathes. But irregular breathing patterns (especially when they’re noticed by someone who’s not the MC) can tell a lot about what their reaction is. Are they losing their breath from laughing to the point where they begin to laugh and cry? Or is the world spinning around them as they begin to hyperventilate, going lightheaded and feeling overwhelmed?

—How they interact with their location

Are they throwing things, staring straight through all of the beautiful scenery, or are the bright colors blinding them? The more public and busy the location is, the less they may feel inclined to really act out, or maybe part of it is that they’re so emotional that they don’t care. Just try to keep the setting in mind for any dramatic, emotional scenes.

—Other people’s reactions

Consider how much the outburst is out-of-character when thinking about reactions. Do people run to console the anti-hero when they break down into tears, or do they stand there awkwardly not knowing what to do? Or, does this happen so often that others know exactly what to say and do, or are they so tired that they stand in the corner, defeated?

—Remember to stay in character

If you want this scene to stand out, you need to remember the characters themselves. Everybody gets emotional and breaks down, and when you can make it true to the character, you will make it real to the audience

Write what you want. Write what makes you happy. Writing should be about self expression. Writing should be about following your imagination.

I have a job interview today. In a couple hours actually. Because of connections, it's basically a formality and the job's mine if I want it. I'm anxious about it. I want to be like, "I'm just nervous about the interview," but I know that's not the case.

I'm nervous about the possibility of change.

Really Like This Thing Walz Does When They're Appearing Side By Side -- He Points At Harris Or Gestures

Really like this thing Walz does when they're appearing side by side -- he points at Harris or gestures at her in some way like "hey! Look at her! Here she is, the star of the show!"

He's doing for her what Biden did for Obama: an old white guy being visibly happy to play the part of the #2/sidekick/hype man for the younger person of color. (I know that Walz and Harris are technically the same age, but yknow.) In her case, he's also showing that it's cool for a guy to be there to support a woman, and for her to be the undisputed boss. All of which are great qualities in a VP.

Yes, you can have your manifestation. You can have anything you want. Reality is your playground. Reality is yours to create. You came here to be the creator of your reality. You came here to consciously design the reality of your dreams.

Manifesting your dreams adds to your soul’s conscious development. It’s all about energy. Everything is energy in the Universe. Through learning how to create through energy, you not only get what you want and harmonize your life but also expand on a soul level.
