It became common, and Hunter beat himself up every time he forgot to give her one. It became a thing for them, especially when she started being away from home more frequently.

They served as reminders for her, how much he loved her, but for him, too.

A reminder of the life he was given. The life he chose to have—as a father.

She smiled, blowing air out of her nose. He raised his arms as she approached him, laying each of them on her shoulders. He raised his left, bringing it to the back of her neck and pulling her forehead to him.

He planted a kiss to her head then, holding them there briefly. He didn’t want to keep her for long. Plus, he gave her one when she got home hours prior.

But another never hurt. He pulled away and laid his hands on her shoulders, admiring her.

The newest pilot for the Rebellion. She grew up to be beautiful and strong—not like Hunter ever doubted it. She held qualities from all of her brothers, and Hunter never failed to smile with pride and grief when she practiced her tech-turn for him.

He was so proud of her, but their goodbyes never got any easier. No matter how many times she returned or left, the weight in his chest never faded. Their salutes never felt lighter, the last look that he always gave her before she turned her attention to the cockpit was always taken for granted.

The habit was built up over years, and it now acted as the silent mediator between them to tell her everything he’d reiterated to her year after year, though never losing their importance.

his brothers are going to make it. he will get omega back and get to raise her on pabu. they will live a long, peaceful life. tech will always be a part of them and watch over them.

I drew some old guys

Looking at this I can't stop thinking about how now they're going to live day by day, enjoying a peaceful life full of love and laughter in their little slice of heaven, and one of those days Hunter will be hit with a realization that he doesn't have to kneel to be on Omega's eye level anymore. And his back will creak when she falls asleep under that tree and he'll pick her up to carry her to bed. Another day he'll notice she's too tall to be seamlessly tucked under his chin. And she'll show up to breakfast one morning with his bandana in her hair because it got long enough. One of those days she'll become too tall, too big, too old to be carried around but it won't stop her from jumping onto Wrecker's back. People will turn around when she walks by and it will dawn on him that it's because of her beauty. She'll pick up a knife and twirl it between her fingers as smoothly as he used to do and she won't even think about it much but he'll be replaying it in his head for days.

And one day he'll hear the words he's been secretly dreading for over a decade. She'll get her own ship. Get in touch with some old friends, maybe find some new ones. She'll tell him that she's ready, then hug him just like she used to do when she was a little girl. And it will break his heart into a million pieces but he'll watch with a smile as she flies to the sky, ready for her next adventure. And he'll know that he raised her right.

the unshakable faith she has in her brothers

Do you ever think about how Omega probably felt so safe out on that catwalk? Like the safest she’d been since before the Empire came to Pabu?

She had a blaster to her head, and still she was safe.

Hemlock wouldn’t kill her.

Hunter understood her plan.

And Crosshair would make the shot.

It was the literal climax of the show, every choice they’d made had lead to this moment, and as we were on the edge of our seats, Omega knew how it would play out and she knew she was safe.

okay but imagine grown up omega and hera after the defeat of the empire and them meeting up with the rest of the bad batch and jacen is also there and they get to catch up with each other and then hera says something along the lines of "you know, you saved his father" because you can be damn sure kanan confided in hera about his experience with order 66, so she knows.

now, the only ones who were there when kanan escaped from them, were hunter and cross, but i think that hearing that kanan got to live a somewhat happy life with hera and the rest of the ghost crew, that must have been a relief for both of them. for hunter because of his Dad Instinct™ and probably having been worried about what happened to the kid. for cross because that's one less person on his concience.

also, hera wouldn't be where she is today if it weren't for them, helping her and her family on ryloth, and saving her husband from certain death when he was just a child. the batch helped the rebellion more than they were aware of. hera will be forever thankful to clone force 99.

And she always will be🥹🥹🥹🥹🙌🏻

Overkill? Maybe. But he got what he deserved.

I hope he felt every last one of those blaster bolts.

Omega believed in him.

Hunter believed in him.

So when it mattered most, Crosshair's hand didn't shake.
