A/n: My Rottmnt fans are screaming right now. But I've been re-watching Haikyuu and I still absolutely love Bokuto and I thought this was a cute idea so, enjoy hopefully!

Bokuto x Gn Reader

When Bokuto likes someone he treasures them

I means you’ve seen the way he treats Akaashi imagine that times ten 

Plus the fact he outwardly more affectionate with you than Akaashi

Bokuto will visibly brighten up when he sees you, a wide smile stretching across his face as he excitedly waves his arms yelling to get your attention 

At first Bokuto didn’t notice the fluttering in his chest whenever you hung out or how he would always feel so giddy whenever he thought of you or how he talked about how amazing you were to all of his teammates 

Until it started to be the only thing he could think about, but he couldn’t figure out what it was alone so naturally he consulted his best friend on the matter

“It sounds like you like them.” Akaashi replies 

Bokuto shuts down for a moment as she stands there trying to compute what Akaashi had said to him

When Bokuto's brain finally catches up he feels his cheeks tingling as a soft crimson spreads across his face 

“Do you really think that's it??” Bokuto asks unsure

“I mean that’s exactly what it sounds like.” His friend responds back

After coming to this conclusion Bokuto is a lot more reserved around you than his usual hyper perky self  

He finds himself hugging you less and a lot more hesitant to touch you than he usually would 

He found himself frustrated with himself reminiscing on the things he said that were embarrassing or things he should have said 

You noticed this drastic change in the third years personality 

At first you had worried you’d done something to upset him with how uncomfortable he seemed around you 

So you thought you should give him some space not wanting to upset Bokuto any further

Yet Bokuto noticed you distancing yourself from him, making him stress further 

After weeks of the two of you floundering around each other Bokuto's team grew tired of watching you two hopelessly avoid each other 

Especially Akaashi, so he was going to find a way to help his best friend

You felt your feet grow heavier as your boots collided with the ground, splashing the small muddy puddles surfacing on the damp earth beneath you. You lift your head from the ground pulling your face from the sweater wrapped around your crimson cheeks flushed red from the cold.

You looked up to the white building in front of you, nothing but the sound of the cold wind whipping against your shivering figure could be heard, you wrapped your arms around your shaking body, tugging your coat closer to your body in an attempt to completely block out the wind. 

“Akaashi I don’t understand, why did I need to follow you to the gym? Don’t you have practice today?” you asked, clearly confused as to why Akaashi had dragged you out here, stating nothing more than that it was ‘urgent’. You were frankly suspicious of how cryptic this whole thing had been. And if you were being honest it made you nervous how close Bokuto could be at any second, I mean he did have practice today.

Akaashi remained silent, your eyes furrowed in confusion as you turned to the brunette, opening your mouth to speak again until you were interrupted by the muffled sounds of shouting and struggling from behind the gym door. The door flung open, colliding with the building as it slowly swung back. There was Bokuto, you felt your chest tighten as you stepped back instinctively to give him some room.

He shouted protests struggling against his teammates who ignored his shouts as they pushed him out the door, stumbling towards you before coming to a halt. Bokuto shifted, quickly trying to regain his posture as he avoids your gaze as he scratches his neck awkwardly unsure of what to say. 

“So um how are you?” Bokuto croaked, his eyes glued to the ground, the nervousness evident in his voice as he stood before you. You felt the atmosphere thicken with the awkward tension that you two were reciprocating. “Uh, good.” you said, shying under the gaze of the third year in front of you. “Good.” Bokuto replied dryly.

You dreaded the suffocating silence that followed, the silence that wouldn’t usually ever occurred in conversations between the two of you, you wouldn’t even miss a beat before the silence would quickly be replaced by laughter.

You sighed quickly looking at your watch. “Listen Bo…”

“I like you!” 

You blinked your head quickly snapping up to the now completely flustered third year. “What?” you deadpanned, not sure if you’d heard him right, but by the way Bokuto's face flushed at your question you were sure you had. 

“I like you! Well not just like you, it's not like I didn't like you before! I just mean I ‘’like like’’ you!” you felt the shock wear off quickly as Bokuto continued to rant his face heating up more and more by the second.

You smiled slowly approaching the third year gently cupped his face, much to Bokuto's surprise. You leaned in quickly, kissing him and silencing his rambles. You smiled as you pulled away.

“Yeah, me too.”
