Hello!! Just imagine a reader with magic?? Reader lives deep in the forest so that no one interferes with his existence?? And then Wally and his friends show up, and their little town now has a real wizard

Pairing: Wally Darling and Masc, Wizard Reader (no pronouns used, Fluff, romantic or platonic!)

During a picnic with Barnaby that was cut short due to some unexpected business that Barnaby had to attend to, Wally found himself alone, surrounded by the peace and sorority of the lush greenery around him

He laid down on the silent hill, grass swaying around him as he stared into the pale sky

A warm light emitted from the forest, and the light caught the puppets eye, confused he watched as the specter of light began to change fading into many different hues 

Compelled by the show, Wally began to walk towards the light, the closer he got the more it seemed to withdraw from him, so he followed the trail until it came to an end

Leading him to a small wood cabin, Wally titled his head in confusion he was pretty sure he had never seen this building before, or even on any town maps, how long has this been here?

Curious Wally approached the seemingly lifeless house, hesitantly knocking on the door before it was swung open forcefully, he was greeted with a tried looking person on the other side, their head glazed with sweat, beads of their hair matted to their slick face, their clothes appearing very battered and torn

Upon seeing Wally their expression fell into one of bewilderment, as Wally tired to politely introduce himself, sticking an expectant hand out for you to take

Dumbfounded you took his hand into your weak grasp, after Wally seemingly invited himself into your home, you had explained to him the specter of light he saw was in fact your doing, you were from a different place were it was in common practice to use magic, but when you tried to create a portal you somehow messed it up and ended up here stranded with no way to get home you’ve been trying to recreate the spell from memory, but it seems like you could never get it right

Wally listened intently, though he had no idea what this magic business was, or even how he could comprehend the intricacies of magic or how your world worked but he was determined to help you find your way back home

Wally had offered to take you into town to meet everyone, you were hesitant at first, not sure if inviting more people into your life would help you achieve your goal faster, but after much convincing you gave in, maybe it would be nice to interact with people after all this time

You were pleasantly surprised with how gracious all of Wally's neighbors seemed to be

Some even asked if you would be able to perform some magic for them, to which you replied with giving them a show of lights

Sally and Julie seemed to be the most excited about this new adjustment than anyone else, while

Frank was somewhat impressed

Poppy and Barnaby shared an appreciation and respect for what you were able to do, Howdy, much like Wally couldn’t seem to wrap his head around the whole magic thing, he did think the lights were pretty though!

People around the town seemed to more frequently visit your cabin to either chat or bring something by for you to eat

Occusanily Howdy will come by to ask if you can help him with something at the shop or just to move something with some sort of levitation spell or something like that

Everyone seems to welcome you in so naturally, like you've always been there

Sees to it that you're able to make it back home

Overall everyone is just very interested in you and your magic, so don’t count on being alone for very long <3

Disclaimer: Once again this might be inaccurate to the experience of everyone who is non-verbal, I mostly based this off of how my friend who is non-verbal communicates, so if this isn't true for everyone thats why!

Pairing: Wally Darling and Gn Reader (Romantic!)

When Wally first met you, he was inclined to greet you with an over the top introduction, so when you responded in silence it threw him off

Did you feel overwhelmed by his greeting? Were you uncomfortable? Or maybe just shy?  

But he was snapped out of his thoughts when you you gave a gentle wave, a concerned look on your face 

Wally smiled, letting out a breathy laugh

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to worry you. I’m Wally, and you are?” he paused hoping you would say something, but much to his surprise you instead reached into the bag that hang on your hip, pulling out a notepad of some sort before you jotted something down

Before you flipped the notepad around

‘I’m Y/n, it's nice to meet you’

Wally smiled, before he continued, telling you about his friends and neighborhood

Over time Wally will become more comfortable with asking questions about you being non-verbal, he didn’t want to get all up in your face about it the first time he met you of course but since your much closer now, it doesn’t seem inappropriate

If you have any other preferred method of speaking other than writing things down Wally would be happy to help you feel more comfortable using them around other people

Like Sign language, or if you have a tablet that you use to communicate, anything you want  

Even though you don’t speak to Wally using your words, he's become very good at picking up on cues you give him that signal your behavior, as well as reading your body language to know how your feeling 

When you first met your other neighbors, Wally had simply remained quiet, something rare to see from the usually energetic, puppet letting you introduce yourself to them with your notepad. It was clear from their expressions that they were confused

You turned to Wally expecting him to say something, but he simply returned your stare, moving his hands, signaling you to continue

You sighed, flipping the page to jot something else down, then you turned the notebook again

‘Hi, I’m y/n, I’m non-verbal, so I won’t be using my voice to communicate with you, I hope we can all become good friends.’ 

You glanced to Wally nervously, but he offered you a supportive smile, giving you a thumbs up

“That's so cool!” Julie shouted waving her arms enthusiastically, you gave a small smile

“How else do you speak? Do you just write?” Sally quipped curiously

You stepped back a little, feeling overwhelmed by the flood of questions being thrown your way

Until you felt a comforting hand on your shoulder, Wally! 

You completely forgot he was here, he offered you a lazy smile

“Now, we don't want to overwhelm our guest here, do we?” 

Julie and Sally shook their heads, as you gave a meek smile

“Then we'll be on our way for now, see you two later.” he spoke, before turning on his heel walking away with you in hand

You turned to Wally arching an eyebrow at him

“What?” 

You looked to him and then back at your neighbors behind you, you flipped your notebook up, writing something down again before showing it to wally

‘Why didn’t you say anything when we were talking to them?’

Wally gave out a low hum

“Because I know you can talk for yourself, you didn’t need me to say anything for you, and they loved you!” he exclaimed, you felt your cheeks become warm as you smiled

Oneshot, and Headcannons

Wally was awoken one night by the repeated slamming of Home closing and opening the door to his room, groggily Wally got out of bed, at first to inquire why Home had been so insistent on awaking him.

But he was stopped when he was alerted to the sound of crying drifting in through the now opened window near the back of home.

Wally hesitated, that side of the house was the side facing the woods, the restricted area, he paused unsure of what to do.

But what if someone needed his help? Maybe the risk outweighed his curiosity, but the more he thought about it the more anxiety bubbled up inside his chest, that was rare, this couldn’t be good.

Without anymore time to think Wally opened Homes front door, the warm night air caressed his face gently, the smell of wet grass filled his senses as he paused drinking in his senses as the wind blew past him without thought, that was until the muffled sobs began again quieter, faint even, but still evident.

Wally turned the corner walking along the side of home as he drew nearer and nearer the cries becoming more clear before they ceased.

Wally paused his body growing stiff, taking in a breath he moved the brush aside revealing a small child, cowering in the middle of the bushes, their head tucked beneath their arms, before they lifted their head, their fearful eyes met his, their face stained with tears and their eyes puffy from crying, they flinched scooting back in fear.

Wally raised his hands in defense as the child began to cry again, Wally was clueless to an extent, sure he was made to teach kids lessons and guide them in some sort of way but he himself hadn’t actually ever interacted with a real child before, especially not one who seemed to be so full of fear.

Wally frantically stepped closer in an attempt to soothe the crying child, but this only seemed to make things worse as their cries became screams of protest, with no sign of getting closer to the child Wally tried a different approach.

“I’m not going to hurt you, I’m a friend, I only want to help. Is that okay with you?” for a moment the child paused, their brows becoming furrowed, as they glared with red eyes, clearly skeptical of the offer 

“I-I’m not supposed to talk to strangers.” the child stammered, crossing their arms defensively

Wally smiled gently

“Well, I’m Wally, and your name is…?” he gestured, hoping they would catch on

They sniffled, before stuttering out their reply

“I’m Y/n.” it was short and simple but it was enough to make they give a shy smile to the puppet

Wally gave a grin in return scooting beside you as you leaned into Wally, Wally tensed for a moment before settling into the sudden contact

“What are you doing here all by yourself, Y/n?” Wally asked gently, earning a small frown from you

“I don’t know, I don’t remember how I got here, I just woke up without my parents…” you trailed off again your eyes welling with tears alarmed Wally dropped the subject, wrapping his arms around you instead.

“Hey, I’m sorry I won’t bring it up again. But don’t you worry friend, we'll get you back to your parents, for now I’ll look after you.”

you nodded into Wally as he scooped you up carrying you into the house before setting you down on the floor of the guest room

“You can sleep here tonight.” he offered, but he felt your hand becoming tighter around his, he looked down to see you anxiously peering into the dark room before looking back up at him with wide eyes

“Can I just sleep with you tonight?” you whispered, Wally smiled gently as he picked you up again before giving you a soft bop on the nose

“Of course you can, don’t you worry bud, I won’t let anything get you.” you giggled playfully, as Wally began to walk to his room setting you down on the bed before he tucked you in, he was about to walk to his side before he stopped upon feeling you tug on his sleeve

“Could you give me a kiss goodnight? I usually get one from my parents, but their not here.” he nodded before laying a soft kiss on your forehead whispering goodnight before making himself comfortable under the covers as he felt sleep fall upon him 

The next morning Wally awoke to you shaking him with a whine, groggily he rubbed his eyes, suddenly remembering what had happened last night 

“What's going on kiddo?” he asked with a yawn to which you groaned 

“I’m hungry, and you’ve been sleeping forever.” you cried, Wally hummed slowly rising from the bed as you dragged him from the room, waiting as he took you into the kitchen.

Rifling through the cabinets before he found an unopened box of cereal, opening the fridge and pouring you some milk he set the bowl down on the table, which apparently, was too tall for you to reach.

Wally lifted you onto the seat before he pulled a chair out from across from you sitting down as you scarfed down your breakfast

“Do you remember anything before you got here?” Wally asked curiously, you looked up to the ceiling in thought as milk dripped down your face, you shook your head, Wally sighed trying to think of what to do next

While living with Wally you would take frequent trips to Frank's house, though you, yourself wouldn’t actually talk to Frank on most days Julie would be around so she would keep you preoccupied while Wally spoke to Frank, you weren’t really sure what it was they were talking about but it seemed important

Wally had promised you that you would see your parents again after all

When living in the neighborhood if you went anywhere you were always with Wally, he simply couldn’t let you out of his sight for one moment, whenever you weren’t where he could see you he would go into a frenzy until you were back in his line of sight

Overtime you grew used to the neighborhood, all of Wally's friends were extremely nice and you saw them often enough to begin to trust them as much as you trusted Wally

You and Wally begin to grow into the Father figure role that had blossomed over your shared time together, and Wally felt that overtime you two had grown to completely trust each other, you were inseparable! 

Wally was extremely loving and patient with you even when you were upset, a very stark contrast to when he first met you, your presence in his Home began to become increasingly evident, your drawing were strung on the fridge for all to see, your toys and clothes set up around your room like you had always been there, it felt like there was a new warmth added to the house, a refreshing touch of youthful joy made Wally feel alive again

But who new how long this would last, what if one day as mysteriously as you had come you vanished, as though you had never even existed, Wally had promised to take you back to your ‘real’ home, but what if that was something he couldn’t do? What if even if he could, he didn’t want to?

The idea of letting you go was something Wally couldn’t bear, but was it really his decision?

Wally isn’t used to having to having someone special in his life that really loves him like you do

So when having an s/o that showers him in unexpected affection, especially if it's physical, of course Wally appreciates any sort of love you give him, he’s just fond of touch because he barely gets any 

Though he's confident in initiating physical contact with you, if you're the one to seek him out for comfort or for any sort of affection he’ll feel a warmth stirring in his chest, he feels appreciated!

If your shorter than him and you tap on his shoulder and ask him to lean down, and kiss him he’ll go a little red in the face, though he doesn’t let you see how much you affect him you can still notice him fumble like a flustered school girl and that's enough for you 

However if your taller than him, and I don’t just mean slightly taller, if you really tower over than him and you decide to pick him up or carry him at all, he’ll lose his goddamn mind

Especially if you just scoop him out of nowhere and cover his face in small pecks, he can’t really hide his flustered state from you

If you gently hold his face and your hands, he’ll gently chuckle, before leaving a peck on your wrist 

Also picking him up and spinning him around like a little rag doll, basically anything having to do with you picking him up gets him red in the face

He just feels so petite, and he’s not sure how to feel about it

He will not look at you after you call him a petname, like, he's supposed to be doing the smooth talking, not you
