I apologise for the this everyone but I seriously this has been bugging me since page 11 of @colbypuppythebaker ‘s rebornfell comic and I needed to get it out of my system.

Just, all of this, yes. I don’t think I can begin to count the times I felt like I was letting people down simply because I felt like I could never just... keep up with the pace everyone else seemed to keep no problem. There really is nothing more stressful for me than the feeling that... time just goes by too fast, and there just isn’t enough to get things done. I hate feeling rushed. 

Being okay with doing things in small, doable bits took time for me to learn, because goodness the feeling that something HAS to be done before moving on to another task... oh it is strong. 

(also, speaking from personal experience as someone who is autistic, there have been times where I have tried my hardest. Given forth my best dang effort, and been accused of holding back and not trying at all. There have also been times where I held back and half assed things and... got met with congratulations for my hard work and effort. There is such a thing as trying too hard, and also to other perfectionists out there- you’d be amazed the sort of errors other people don’t even notice that you can get away with.)

one of the least helpful things ive been told as a neurodivergent person is “don’t half ass things”

if you can quarter ass something, do it! if all you can do is clean a corner of your room, or only read one of the two assigned chapters, or write the heading for your resume, or put all the papers for taxes in a pile, do it! if today isn’t a whole ass day, take pride in the portion of ass that you were capable of
