 Imagine Rhyme and Reason in Fair City’s prison. A police officer is writing down their information, and asks them for their names. Reason gives the officer his real name, like he’s always been asked for whenever the two had been incarcerated in the past.

The officer raises an eyebrow and says, “No, not that name, I mean the name.”

“…Reason?”

The officer is content with the answer and writes it down, and then moves onto writing down Rhyme’s information.

It isn’t before they’ve served their sentence and decided to stay in Fair City that Reason finally realises what it all meant.

Most of the villains in the city - with some exceptions - treat their villain alias as their actual name. That one well-known CEO isn’t Shelly Smalls, he’s Mr. Big. The part-man, part-mouse scientist isn’t Steven and Squeaky, they’re parts of what makes him - Doctor Two-Brains - him. When asked for their real names, Big Left Hand Guy and Invisibill just give them confused looks.

And eventually Rhyme and Reason get used to it. Postcards and mail arrive to their house with just their names on them. No address or anything. (”It has always whammered to the right house when we write just the name on it,” Whammer explains when he slips a letter in a mailbox with just “CHUCK” written on the front.”)

Sometimes it takes Rhyme and Reason a few seconds to remember what their real names are.
