I didn’t mean to disappear for 2 months but lack of motivation and inspiration is hitting me hard. Even drawing this picture of my OC Reed was a struggle because my motivation to finish it just kept going 📈📉📉📈📉📉📉📉 I do think he looks cool tho in the end.

I recently watched the eras tour film with my sister and i LOVE Taylor’s outfits in it. With the release of her new album (which i haven’t listened to yet but i plan to soon) i was feeling super inspired to draw my OCs in her outfits. So I present to you Izzy in Taylor’s Lover outfit and Arlo in her Red outfit!! ❤️🩷

MEET MY OC: Violet 🌷

At last, I present to you all the final member of Derek's team, Violet!

I plan to do these sorts of posts again for the villains of the story, but I wanna take a little break first and draw some ideas and write some stories I've had gathering in my mind for a while now.

Power: Teleportation

Age: 17 years old

Backstory: Violet is an orphan. She has vague memories of her family and what they look like. She remembers her mother and father, she remembers she had a sister but doesn't know where any of them are. She's always dreamed of finding them one day, finding answers as to why she was left at the orphanage. What happened.

She has never been adopted. When unadopted orphans turn 16, they are expected to start working and saving up money as when they turn 18 and officially become adults, they'll be expected to leave the orphanage and make a new life for themselves. Violet tries to make the most out of her situation. For the past year, she has been working in the local market place, trying to save money as her 18th birthday is months away and she'd be expected to leave.

She meets Derek and the gang when they come to replenish their supplies. She mainly talks to Izzy as she finds the girls energetic personality endearing. Izzy tells Violet all about Derek, Reed, the other members of their team, telling Violet how they've been traveling from village to village, following Reed's tracks to catch him and put a stop to his evil deeds. Violet takes an interest in this. She's going to be kicked out of the orphanage soon anyway, why not do it off her own accord? Maybe this could be the chance to adventure and find her family, to find answers! It's an opportunity she wouldn't miss for the world.

MEET MY OC: Casper 🔧

I used Dolores from Encanto as inspiration for his pose because it was a struggle. I am not use to coming up with and drawing this many unique poses but at least it’s good practice.

He is friends with Noah, and could be considered Noah's only friend. They are very close as Casper is the only one who believes in Noah and supports him. He comforts Noah when he's down and reminds him to look after himself.

Age: 16 years old

Power: Sense manipulation

Backstory: Casper is from the kingdom of Tenameeva. His dad is the inventor for the royal family, creating things to improve the quality of life for others and to strengthen the defences of Tenameeva. Casper works as an assistant for his dad, training to one day become an inventor just like him. Along the way, he is taught how to be resourceful and how to build machinery.

When Derek arrives at Tenameeva, he meets Noah first and Noah decides to join him on his journey. He tells Casper about it as he is about to leave and Casper tries to discourage him. There are a lot of risks, it could be dangerous, Noah could get hurt or even worse, killed. But Noah is adamant, this is what he wants to do, he wants to leave Tenameeva. Casper, not wanting to lose his friend so suddenly, impulsively decides to join him. Derek let's him join them because he thinks it would be useful to have someone as intelligent and resourceful as Casper on the team.

MEET MY OC: Arlo 🎾

Her colour scheme reminds me of a watermelon tbh (was not intentional but it's still cute)

Due to everyones fear of her power, Arlo uses her power sparingly, often only using it for mundane tasks or when she absolutely needs to. Because of this, her power has grown weak due to it being mostly unused.

Age: 16 years old

Power: Energy absorption

Backstory: Arlo is from a village predominantly occupied by the powerless (people without powers). Even her parents are powerless. People in her village don't really understand these strange abilities and some are even scared of powers. Arlo's power is one that people are scared of because, for Arlo to create objects out of energy, she has to first absorb that energy from somewhere else. She often does this by absorbing a small amount of her own energy or absorbing plant energy, but people are still fearful of her. What's to stop her from draining the energy from another person? It could kill them if Arlo absorbed too much! Of course, Arlo would never kill someone and is super careful with her power to avoid just that, but people are still weary around her.

When she meets Derek, Derek sees her use her power and isn't scared by it. Instead, he sees potential. He sees a power that can be used to do something extraordinary if taught and trained properly. He offers to teach Arlo, to show her the full potential of her power. At first, Arlo turns his offer down, scared of going too far and confirming everyones fears. But after helping Derek win a fight against Reed, she too begins to see the potential of her power and agrees to join Derek to stop Reed and to learn to understand her power better.

MEET MY OC: Kelsey 🖌

I go through phases with my OCs where I'll think about/draw/write about one OC more then the rest for a period of time and currently that OC is Kelsey. I struggled so hard trying to think of an outfit for her but I like the final design I came up with (mainly cus it's yellow and yellow is my favourite colour)

She's very caring and protective of others, particularly her younger siblings and her friends. She'll always check on others to see how their doing or try to cheer them up after they've had a bad day. She's the sort of person that can't stand up for herself but if she sees someone else getting picked on she's standing up for them immediately, no second thoughts.

Power: Forcefields

Backstory: Kelsey is someone that knows what she want in her life. She has goals she's wants to achieve and works hard for them. She likes art, particularly painting, and would love to be an art teacher one day, to teach people to see art the way she sees it and encourage creativity.

When Derek shows up at her kingdom, hungry and injured, she is the first person to come to his aid. When she finds out about what Reed is doing, the suffering he causes upon others, she wants to help stop him in any way she can and volunteers to join Derek in his mission.

MEET MY OC: Izzy ⚡️

Is the anatomy a lil off? Yes. But I don't know how to fix it and i used like 4 different references trying to make it look right but it's ok cause I never draw running poses like that so I challenged myself.

One day, she runs into Derek (literally. She ran into him. She's not very good at controlling her direction and stopping when she's using her power) and when she hears about his mission to fight against Reed, she is all for it and wants to be involved, seeing it as a dream come true. Finally, the adventure she had longed for her whole life.

Power: Superspeed

Backstory: Izzy is a girl that's always seeked adventure and has longed for more in her life. She dreams of traveling outside of her kingdom (which is the smallest of all the kingdoms in their world) and going on a magnificent life changing journey but doesn't have to means to do that. She believes there is more waiting for her somewhere out there in the world, new friends, new potential, new places to see, she's just waiting for the day that'll happen. This stems from the fact she had difficulty making friends and fitting in growing up, particularly in school, as she had trouble with social interactions and had a fear of judgement. If she did make friends, she could never seem to keep them. She wants a fresh start and to find herself but doesn't know how to go about doing that.

MEET MY OC: Noah 🗡

When I explain my OCs and their world and their backstories to people, Noah tends to be the favourite. People really like him and find him interesting which I completely agree with I love Noah (saying that as if I don't love all my OCs).

Unlike Derek, his backstory isn't super spoilery. But it also takes a lot of explanation and I wanted to try keep this post as short as possible sooo here is the short and basic summary of Noah's backstory if you are interested:

Axel has fire powers. Penelope has healing powers. When Penelope fell pregnant and they found out they were having a son, they worried that he would be born with healing powers. This is because there's a belief that if a royal guard goes to a healer or heals themselves, they are weak and cannot take the sacrafice and pain that comes with defending their kingdom.

Age: 18 years old

Power: Healing

Backstory: Noah is from one of the many kingdoms in their world called Tenameeva. In this kingdom there is a royal family that everyone is expected to serve and work for. The children will grow up to do the jobs their parents do (for example, Axel is the royal guard and Penelope is the royal baker. Since Noah was born a boy, he would grow up to become a royal guard like his father but if he was born a girl he would’ve grown up to he a royal baker like his mother).

Unlucky for Noah, he is born with healing powers and he is told he can never use them and to keep them a secret. His whole life he has been training to become a royal guard like his dad and constantly works hard to prove himself. He is a very skilled fighter but due to him being born with healing magic instead of fire magic, he can never get his parents full approval. When he turned 18, he was meant to take part in a ceremony that would officially make him a royal guard but then Derek came along and Noah went off with him on a mighty adventure to fight against Reed.

His backstory is more detailed then that but like I said it takes a lot of explanation soooo if anyone is interested in it I maybeee could make a longer post explaining everything. Maybe.

MEET MY OC: Derek ⏳️

I plan to eventually make posts like this for all my characters (I am currently working on the drawings for Noah and Izzy) so look out for those! I was gonna talk about his backstory but it contains a lot of spoilers for the prologue and the main story 😬

Fun fact: Despite me rarely talking about him, Derek is actually the main character of the story. I gotta show this boi more love tbh

✨️HAPPY NEW YEAR!! ✨️

Hope you guys all had a fun new year! This month marks the 3 year anniversary of my story Power Down existing! In celebration of this I decided to redraw the first sketch I ever did of the characters from that story. Currently it has 14 characters but back in the beginning it was just these 4, Casper, Noah, Violet and Izzy. I love how the redraw came out and I love seeing how my OCs have changed throughout the years (even if they all still have the same hairstyles lol)

LOOK AT THEM! I LOVE THEM!! I absolutely LOVE how this drawing turned out IZZY AND VIOLET JUST LOOK SO CUTE AND PRECIOUS AND PERFECT!!

I recently reread the short story I wrote about them (I mentioned it in this post too (which was also inspired by that same short story)) and I'm currently rewriting it. As I was inspiration struck and hence this drawing was born. To briefly summarise the story it is about Izzy and Violet being unable to sleep and star gazing together, taking place before they started dating and when they were just crushing on eachother (ft some mild angst hehe). There's 2 versions of the story, one from Violet's POV and the other from Izzy's POV. I'm debating wether or not to post the stories once there done butttt I'll see =)

WOAH IT'S AINSLEY!!

I was testing out 2 things with this drawing. One, a potential new design for her and two, how to draw wind (Ainsley has wind powers btw). This was a case of "I'll just do a quick sketch" and next thing you know it's been 2 hours and you have a fully coloured and shaded piece. I really like how she looks in this drawing but I'm not 100% sure on the outfit, i think she looks a bit like a pirate which was not my intention. I like it but i think it needs a few tweaks, I'm not sure yet.

I'm currently redesigning my OCs. Some of them will have minor changes while others will have bigger changes. While thinking about the redesigns inspiration struck last night and i drew out this dress and instantly knew it was perfect for her. Nessa is one of my OCs with more minor changes, her eye colour changed and her outfit changed (not like anyone would know that since this is her first time appearing on my blog). I love her colour scheme so much and can't wait to redesign the others!!

🧡 "Looking at the stars, admiring from afar" 💜

Once again decided to be a bit experimental with my artstyle. I think Violet turned out better then Izzy but overall i still love these drawings. As i was drawing this i realised it matched the lyrics from 'We Fell In Love In October' as shown above and went with it but that wasn't the original inspiration for this drawing. Originally it was based on a short story i wrote about these two probably about a year ago now. If you couldn't tell i love these two i think their relationship is very cute and they both hold a special place in my heart.

I present to you Noah and Magnus. I'm reworking my story a bit and these two happen to be the first chatacters i reworked. Before they were kind of just on opposite teams without any real connection to eachother outside of that but now they have history together. I think it makes them both more interesting and originally i didn't really think about them much but with their new backstories they've definitely become two of my favourite ocs. I don't think the lighting is the best in this piece but i really enjoyed drawing it, i even enjoyed doing the line art which is usually my least favourite part of the process.

Guess who watched the barbie movie 🤩💗

I watched it in cinema with my friend and we both loved it. I thought it was a great film, made me laugh a lot and if you haven't watched it yet you definitely should. To celebrate the occasion i decided to draw my ocs Raven and Dove as that Barbie and Ken mugshot image that was going around. I considered a few different options for which characters i should draw but i think this matches Raven and Dove's dynamic quite well.

(The background was an image i got from Google btw, i didn't draw it)
