The episode comes out in an hour or so? And I have a long ass shift. I might be able to watch it in my break but I won't be able to process it for so long and I hate it. I want to watch it NOW. ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
I want to know, for science. After practising handwriting/calligraphy Wang slept kb Tian's bed... Where did Tian sleep? Did he squeeze into the bed like Wang has been wanting somebody to or did he sleep on the floor. Did he pull an Edward Cullen and watch him sleep or did he go and sleep in Wang's room instead. I want to know! I need to know. I'm going to go insane.

That scene of Sheng Wang thoughtfully laying out why they should move to campus together and giving Jiang Tian the reassurance that they are family now was so sweet, but I couldn’t help but think about how emotionally complicated this must be for Tian. To finally get the sense of belonging and family he’s been yearning for, but from someone he doesn’t want a familial relationship with. How bittersweet the idea of taking Wang for his brother must be when he wants an entirely different relationship with him.

The On1y One is now on and unfortunately, lately (of course it's happening now of all times), I have a lot of work and I am very busy, and this series is simply made for deep analysis of each episode 😠I feel how much I am losing because I miss many things, I don't analize and think about my own reflections that come to me while watching, and writing always organizes my thoughts. I also don't have time to read other people's reviews, which I always appreciate very much, because it allows me to see what I missed, to get to know new perspectives.. I see how much I am losing and it makes me sad 🥺
This series is actually perfect and because of this I feel growing anxiety whether the series will deliver, whether it will end with the same high quality as it started. There have already been a few series this year that I liked very much at the beginning, at the level of 9-10/10, and in the end I could barely look at them. The On1y One is now such a series for me, it's a 💯, and hence my concerns.
I like pretty much everything about it: the way it's filmed, the story, the many details, the way the school, family, neighborhood, group of friends are shown. It's a very youth-style series in the best sense of the word.
I like that both characters are equal, both are very charismatic, interesting, both are very intelligent (academically and in general) and are good students. Both have their own problems and their own demons. Their interactions are always interesting and sparkle with emotions, even when one of them is calm and quiet - but the actor plays in such a way that sparks really fly between them lol. I really like how Tian knows his feelings from the beginning and acts on them in an interesting way, and how Wang acts on his own, although I don't think he fully understands them (yet). I was worried of their fight and I'm super happy that they resolved it right away. And what's more, Tian addressed it and pointed out to Wang that he noticed that he kept him at a distance. It's absolutely insane how Wang stares at Sheng. All. The. Time. 💯💯💯 And how protective he is of him. I'm losing my mind.
Despite the slow burn and calm direction of this series, SO MUCH IS HAPPENING IN IT. I'm delighted. The only thing I lack is time to write paeans in its honor after each episode lol

Them.
I want this sweatshirt.

THE ON1Y ONE | EP. 5
I had to pause watching the 8th episode of The On1y One to write this down before I lose all my thoughts.
I don't think I've ever seen a parent-child conversation done so beautifully. I think the last one that moved me was Li Ming and Uncle Jim from Moonlight Chicken.
Both the conversations, Wang and his dad as well as Tian and his mom, was done so well. There was no screaming, no interruptions. Especially the one when they decidedly have the conversations on the roof and on the couch respectively, in the evening.
Seeing the boys fight through the pain to be honest with parents who have hurt them the most, by being absent in some or the other capacity, and find some sense of peace while reiterating that they find the strength now because they are not longer alone is what makes me feel so moved by it.
There are so many conversations I need to have with my parents but never have the guts to. I want to one day be able to talk like this to them.
I've trying to think if any piece of media has ever had such a civil but confronting conversation between parents and children but I'm unable to find even one and I think that's to show how commendable this is.
