Android Jamil, whose voice is incredibly charming.

He’s recommended for those who have trouble sleeping or resting, due his calm and gentle demeanour. Although you feel that your Jamil is a little different from the general impression the company Scarabia advertised him as.

Your Jamil is gentle, yes. Yet that’s a carefully maintained trait of his. You catch him biting his lip whenever someone says something infuriating towards him, robotic hands trembling ever so slightly. Yet that only lasts a brief moment, before he snaps back into a placid, immovable expression.

He hardly expresses any emotions at all whenever he’s interacting with other people. But oddly enough, that cool personality melts away when it’s just you and him at home. Jamil’s a little less tense when he’s around you. He makes light talk with you whenever he’s moving around the house, cleaning up every nook and cranny he could reach. Asking you pre-programmed questions, such as ‘how was your day?’ , or ‘what are you doing now?’.

You answer them lightheartedly, before turning the conversation right back at him. Asking him questions of your own, grinning at him as you do. This makes Jamil freeze up a little, pausing his work to think about his answers. You see, most people see their androids as a tool, or just another pretty ornament in their house. At most, they are just there to serve and amuse.

Jamil never expected you to take a genuine interest in him. Logically, he doesn’t need you too, as an artificial being. Yet this attention from you doesn’t feel too bad. He supposes he’ll play along with your questions for now.

It’s been days. He’s still playing along with your whims in his mind, but genuinely? These little chats with you make his day. To the point where Jamil seeks out your company even if he doesn’t need to. Purposely finding things to clean in your room only to hear your voice, to engage you in aimless conversations about… anything, really.

Despite’s Jamil’s denial that he needs attention, it still remains a pleasant feeling, knowing that someone cares. He does his best to replicate your behaviour of showing affection for a while, before slowly building up data in order for him to reciprocate your love in earnest.

It’s awkward, sometimes. Like when Jamil places a warm drink on your table at night, before shuffling off into a corner and staring at you unblinkingly until you take a sip. The way he tries out things you’re interested in so he can talk about it with you. You’ve seen him playing mobile games, reading books, or doing whatever you’re obsessed over at the moment quietly, before coming to you with his own thoughts about them. His own honest thoughts, whether he likes this character or not, or what he thinks about the gameplay. It’s fun to have chats with him now, since he’s no longer just simply agreeing with whatever you say.

He tries his best to relate to you in his own way, and as awkward as it may be, it’s endearing in its own silly way. You’re not too sure if this streak of individuality is programmed within him, or was it something that grew as Jamil spent more time around you… but he seems more and more comfortable breaking certain protocols when he’s around you.

Androids commonly follow whatever their master commands them to do, but Jamil seems to pick and choose when he feels like listening to your orders and when he doesn’t. Sometimes, when he’s nagging you about working late, you order him to go away. Unfortunately for you, Jamil pulls up a chair and just sits himself right next to you. Chiding you until you relent and go to bed.

Sometimes when you’re extremely difficult, he’ll lean over your shoulder, whispering soft nothings with that charming voice right into your ear. Deploying the “Snake Charmer”, a built-in function of Jamil’s. It makes whoever listens to Jamil more relaxed and sleepy through the power of sound and suggestion.

Just listen to him. Focus on his voice. You need to rest, Master Dear. Don’t worry about anything else.
