Something Very Near And Dear To Me Is Teenage Soukoku Getting To Engage In Teenage Shenanigans.
something very near and dear to me is teenage soukoku getting to engage in teenage shenanigans.
give me all the moments of them dicking around during sparring practice, ending up laying side by side on the mats laughing to themselves about something meaningless. i want them prank calling hirotsu and thinking they’re unbelievably clever for it too. teenage soukoku crashing in chuuya’s room and making fun of reality tv until 4am, burning popcorn in the microwave and eating shitty cup ramen. having to awkwardly ask mori to send someone to repair the hole in chuuya’s wall because he threw a wii remote at it after dazai kicked his ass in mario kart (again). i want all of it!!!

Jason Todd; Return from the dead
All horror art in this post is made by the amazing @0ddoblivion and used with permission, go check his blog out for some really good horror art!

He loves like an angry dog.
The Book of Promethea - Hélène Cixous / Red Hood and the Outlaws (2016) #28 / Who - Sylvia Plat / Red Hood: Lost Days / Speeches for Doctor Frankenstein - Margaret Atwood / Batman Annual #25, Daedalus and Icarus / Água Viva - Clarice Spector / Batman (1940) #650, All they do is watch us kill / textpost by @/prettyhatemachinegf / Tomaž Šalamun / Witch - Rebecca Tamás / Deathless - Catherynne M. Valente / A Brief Biography of My Name - Yalie Kamara / The Angriest Dog In The World - David Lynch
Ok but Jason being unloved by the narrative/writers hits me so hard. It’s both being unloved by your parents or being unloved by God himself. Feeling utterly uncared for. All odds stacked against you. Little Jay trying hard to be good and being so, so good, dying to save a mother who doesn’t love him to satisfy a writer who hates him and entertain a crowd of consumers who get a small kick out of it, but mostly don’t even care, don’t even care at all.
Dying for a God who doesn’t just let the sparrow fall, he didn’t even care to notice it was ever there in the first place. Cutting ourselves open to be good enough, good enough. and it is never enough. How unholy to bleed out and not even have someone to drink your blood.
Anyway, how uncaring is it, to be alive and be hurting, how little love do we get for our wounds, how little tenderness for our bruised souls. And still, Jason is not loved, he is something writers are unwilling to entertain to understand. A big joke to the cosmos, dying and living and barely breathing, to the cacophony of sickening laughter or scoffs of disdain around him.
Jason Todd using negative self-talk as a protection strategy/coping mechanism because the low-level buzz of pain he feels constantly is still preferable to the ugly shock of someone he cares about suddenly throwing his failures in his face.
