This not-for-profit zine aims to create a showcase of the Disco Elysium fandom's talents! Have something you love drawing? Have something you can't get enough of? Have an idea you've been meaning to get out? Share it here, with us!

You will be asked for a piece that reflects what you love most about the game / what is most personal to you. The piece should tie into a lyric or a set of lyrics from a song. These lyrics may be included in the piece itself or be used as the title. This can be any song that has ever existed.

The idea is that through celebrating this game, we keep its world and its characters and its story alive. With our love for Disco Elysium, we save it from dissolving into the Pale. We save it from being forgotten, from being erased from memory. We come together and through our love for the game, we preserve it.

This is why we will be known as the Counter-Pale Resistance. This is why the title of our zine will be Pale_, struck-through.

As the lines of an old song go, "All of this belongs to you. All of this belongs to me. All of this belongs to us. And it goes on endlessly."

Think of this form as an RSVP! This will basically reserve your spot in the zine. You will sign up here, and when the sign up closes, I will open a form for submissions. IF YOU DO NOT FILL THIS SIGN UP SHEET, YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO SUBMIT YOUR ART TO THE ZINE. Please only apply once! Only one medium will be allowed for submission.

Anyone is free to join. There will be no application process. Submissions are planned to be due mid-September.

Artists are asked for 1 piece of art that features a clean sketch, clean lineart, or no lineart that is fully colored or toned (includes grayscale / monotone). Writers are asked for 1 piece of writing no longer than 5k. The writing can be prose, a poem, a script, etc. Other mediums will be allowed on a case-by-case basis.

do you know how many people are mad that authors use "growled" as a word for "said"? it's just poetics! they do not literally mean "growled," it's just a common replacement for "said with force but in a low tone." it's normal! do you hear me!! help me i love you please let me out of here!!!

my favourite empathy check of the game. i love how de presents empathy as the grounding mechanism for self-persecutory fear. i genuinely lost my cool when i got this check the first time, like idek why its this one specifically but i think its just the trust lol. everyone felt perfectly safe around him, his mental disability was not, in fact, something that seperated him from others. he was not percieved as a threat to others, or as inhuman. he was able to be around others, his existence in public was not terrifying or dangerous to others, and he knows that. #1 jean hater for life im not joking.

An mild ailment corroded the streets of Arca two decades ago. The fevers were believed to be contracted throught the ingestion of contaminated fish and water. The vercals, renown healers, rose to power to ensure it wouldnt erradicate the city, but it ended making it worse. Health potions administered by Saint Trina's order were only capable of stopping the synthoms for a few days, and then they returned and so on. Anger festered in the streets, as only a few were able to afford such care and any attempts to replicate or look for a cure outside the order were crushed just as the poison filled vials between the teeths of their perpretators.

Queen Consuelo Vercal herself got the infection, but she endured years, for the monarch had the saints beside her. As the queen stood proudly on Arca Altus tall towers, the city withered at her feet. And another disease took the city: rebellion.

Only when the queen stepped down and took off the crown, as a final act of martydom, the plague was expelled from the city's lungs. The Nerón family then swore to legislate towards peace so the city could recover, not just from the epidemy, but also from the deep wounds that divided it.

The disease is now known as the Saltpeter fevers, due to its origin in the salty waters of the estuary, and the white residue pilling around the mouths of the ill. Just a few medics and forensic were able to see where it came from.
