seungcheol's arms are like home as they wrap around you, his lips pressing against the side of your head. even when you swear you're beyond calming, something about his cologne is enough to make you feel safer. he just holds you as you babble endlessly about the flaws you see in the mirror every time you see yourself. the things your own family picked on you for, and then backtracked with saying you couldn't "take a joke" and they clearly meant nothing by it. joke or not, it stung deeply each and every time it happened.

even now, seungcheol sees the way you pull your sleeves over your hands. the way you try to make yourself look smaller in his embrace, hiding away every part of you as much as you can. you don't even realize you're doing it. seungcheol sees you as radiant, as gentle, as kind. to him, you're attractive in your own way: there isn't a word that fits just right. you're you, and that's what he loves the most. but he knows the scars you have hide underneath your skin and go deeper than he can ever soothe with a kiss.

"i love you," he says, rubbing circles into your back. "i'm sorry other people mde you think you're not enough." he presses another kiss against the side of your head. "it's okay," he coaxes you gently, "i've got you now."

you hiccup, burying your hot, wet face into his neck. one day, he knows you'll see what he sees. it'll take time, but he'll be with you every step of that journey if that's what you need.

"cheollie..." your voice is broken when you finally break through the sobs to speak. "love you..." you murmur, hands grabbing at the back of his shirt. "just... hold me for a little longer. if that's okay."

it's always okay. he snuggles in, holding you a little tighter. "whatever you need. you're perfect to me, okay?" he holds your sleeves over your hand, though, when he takes it in his own: his words aren't going to fix you, and if it makes you feel better to hide, he'll let you hide until you're ready to be seen again. and then he'll stand with you when that time comes, proudly showing you off as much as you're comfortable with.

“doll,” seungcheol nudges you softly, “here.”

you tear your eyes away from the tv screen to look at seungcheol’s face who gestures to his hand with his eyes, eyebrows raising slightly.

in his open hand sits a peeled orange. it’s peeled so perfectly that it actually hurts, there’s none of those pesky piths on the orange segments and no seeds which you had mentioned to seungcheol that you preferred oranges without seeds and ever since, he’s only brought home clementines or any other types of seedless oranges.

“i didn’t…?”

seungcheol smiles softly, “i know you didn’t, but i also know how you like snacking on oranges while we watch our show.”

you think you might burst with all the love you have for the man before you. he peeled it without you even having to ask.

laughing at his witty statement, you take the orange from his hand and whisper a quiet ‘thank you’ before taking his hand in yours and bringing it to your lips for a kiss. a stamp of gratitude.

that’s when you notice it. the free edge of his nails are a tinted yellow-orange colour, like the peel of the orange he had ripped off so carefully that it did not break off at any part.

“hey,” you start, “your nails are stained.”

seungcheol pulls his hand away to take a look and he laughs, “really? i didn’t even realise that.”

“don’t peel these next time, your nails are orange now.”

he just stares at you for a few moments, so lost in your worry-filled eyes.

a deep chuckle leaves his mouth, filled with amusement because you were so adorable to him. the way you were concerned about his nails staining, he could kiss you senseless right then and there.

“sweetheart, i’d peel hundreds of oranges even if it meant that my nails would get stained in this way every time.”

his comment has rendered you absolutely speechless. you fall still for what feels like ages, trying to process his sickeningly sweet words — you might have to see a dentist after this.

your mouth opens then closes again, unable to get a single word out. blood rushes to your cheeks and you can feel them become warmer and warmer the longer you stare into seungcheol’s alluring eyes.

you don’t think you can hold it back any longer, so you place the orange on the coffee table and throw yourself onto seungcheol, tightening your arms around his neck.

the vibrations from his throat as he laughs transfer onto your body and you press yourself into him more. saying that you were flustered from his comment would be an understatement. you were more than flustered and so in love with choi seungcheol.

“has my sweet girl gone all shy?” he teases and you hide yourself further in the junction between his shoulder and neck.

as you’re shaking your head ‘no’, he laughs again, one large hand going to stroke the side of your head. the tip of your ears are hot to his touch and now he knows for sure that you’re shy and a blushing mess.

seungcheol pulls away from the embrace and looks at you with ‘heart eyes’. when you go to hide your face again, he stops you, hands going to either side of your face and lips pressing against your cheek.

“oh, my silly girl,” he follows your avoiding eyes, “what am i ever going to do with you? hm?”

warnings: hyperventilating due to crying (idk if this is a warning but put it down just in case)

"honey, i'm home!" seungcheol sings as he enters the house, keys jangling as they spin around his pointer finger. he slips off his shoes, hangs his coat up and walks to the living room only to find you snuggled up in a layer of blanket, blank eyes boring into the tv screen.

"hey, doll," he whispers as he saunters over to the couch you're on. a large hand goes to stroke your hair, he's towering over you and you instantly move into every pass of his hand that smoothens your hair.

when you push his hand away, he's confused. did he do something wrong? did he miss something important? he never misses anything due to the events he has recorded on his calendar, though.

he watches curiously as you sit up, pulling the blanket along with you as you wiggle into the corner of the couch. and as you stare at him, he knows what you need. you just need him. the glossy eyes of yours give it away, even though you tried so hard not to show any negative emotions.

tossing his keys and phone on the coffee table, he doesn't hesitate to quickly but carefully place himself next to you. as soon as his hand tugs you onto his chest, into his arms, the tears in your eyes fall. thick, hot tears rush down your cheek and linger at your chin, some soaking the material of his blazer and white shirt. he didn't care if you cried into his suits, never did and never will. if he could be the one for you to lean on and let out your tears, he would do anything.

"i'm here. let it all out, doll."

that's all he whispers as he rubs your back and runs a warm hand over your hair, just sweet words to comfort you. through tears, you explain to him yet his heart squeezes everytime you take a big gasp of air or when another fat tear escapes your eye, he wipes every single tear and whispers 'breathe, sweetheart, i got you' when you begin to hyperventilate.

once you're done explaining, you can't help but let out a huge shuddering breath. at this, seungcheol presses you into his chest further, heart almost breaking at the sound.

"i'll get you some water, hm?" he tries to slip out of your arms but you tighten your hold in protest, "you need to hydrate after crying all those tears, silly."

well, you were a little thirsty after all that so you allow him to grab you a glass of cool water which you drink up surprisingly fast. seungcheol takes the glass from you and swaps it for his phone, tapping around, "let me show you something."

you track his thumb as it swipes through his phone before it settles on a picture of soonyoung looking into the camera lens, he held a croissant in one hand with chocolate smeared around his lips, "he said he misses you."

it makes you giggle and you don't see it but seungcheol is smiling so fondly at you. but your smile fades a while later, remembering the events of your horrible day.

it doesn't go unnoticed by seungcheol at all. being an attentive person, he notices many things about you. he notices the way the tears reform in your eyes, the way you yank lightly on his blazer sleeve and bury yourself back into his broad chest.

"oh, my baby."

gently, he takes your face in his hands and brings you close to his own to stamp a kiss on your cheek, then the other, your nose, your forehead. he doesn't stop until he pulls the sound of laughter out of you. he doesn't stop even when you scrunch your face and sniffle a little after your tears had stopped.

"i'll get that horrible guy for you, i'll teach him a lesson so he doesn't ever mess with my sweet girl again."

"you wouldn't hurt a fly, cherry," you laugh a little because you know seungcheol isn't the violent type.

"hey, i'd do anything for my silly girl."

"silly girl? you're my silly guy then."

and all he can do is chuckle at your words, squeezing his arms around you.

he wouldn't hurt a fly, yes, but he'd go to the ends of the earth for you.

“cheol baby, good morning!” you would sweetly say while jumping on top of him, laughing and giggling. he would love to see that you were up to being affectionate since he is a very clingy man and it was kind of rare to see you like this. he would take you into his arms, kissing you softly while smiling so wide his dimples would show.

jeonghan wouldn’t be awake by the time you woke up, so it would come as a surprise to him that you kissed his nose and face, this action being the first thing he sensed. “hmm, is my angel feeling extra cute and cuddly today?” he would ask while lazily draping an arm over your form and letting you snuggle into his side.

joshua was already awake by the time you opened your eyes, looking at you lovingly while stroking your hair. after you gave him many many kisses on his adorable cheeks his eyes became even softer. “darling you have no idea how in love i am with you. i keep falling deeper.” he would say while kissing you back.

jun would also be up by the time you found him, in the bathroom washing up. you looked at him through the mirror, hanging on him like a little koala while he brushed his teeth. after being done he would give you a wink. “do you want to help me style my hair, precious?”

hoshi cannot stay silent so he would be doing that vibrating thing he always does when he is excited when you backhugged him and peppered kisses over his face. “oh my god little tiger you are so so cute.” he would say while turning around and grabbing you by the waist.

wonwoo was watching you sleep and adoring your face when you looked up at him with those beautiful orbs, leaning up to pull him down by his neck, to which he let out a low chuckle and an admiring your smile. “were you spying on me again while sleeping, hmm mr. jeon?”

it was rare to see woozi rest so you were extra happy to see him in bed, just lazing around. you would jump on the piece of furniture, hugging him tightly, him letting a smirk make its way onto his face. “what got you so excited, hmm babe?” he would question while letting you twirl his locks around your finger.

dk is a very touchy person so he would be over the moon when you started singing with him while making breakfast, instantly grinning. “you are so cute my sunshine minnie!” you would say excitedly while squishing his cheeks, resulting in him blushing and blabbering about how you were the cute one, not him.

mingyu would be giggling so much when he is around you, which would only increase when you jumped on his back, him acting as your carrier right away, bouncing around with you glued to him, your laugh and kisses lingering on his skin. “i will give you all the affection in the world kim mingyu!”

minghao would be mesmerised by your brightness and would just quietly melt upon receiving the most warm hug ever from you, fingers laced together, stroking your back with one hand. “darling you are my soulmate, my everything.” he would whisper into your ear during the intimate moment.

“what are you doing?” seungkwan would whine, pretending to be annoyed by you not letting him drink his iced americano in peace, dancing around, but in reality he would let his smile take over, knowing damn well he cannot resist your chamrs, especially when you let yourself be exceptionally affectionate with him.

to say that vernon was surprised would be an understatement; he did not expect to be dragged back into bed by you clinging onto his thigh. “nonnie stay with me i miss you already!” you would insist, pouty lips and light touches, to which he couldn’t say no, obviously.

dino would love that you felt good and would shower you with so much love that you would be drowning in it. “bub i love you so much i could burst!” he would say while kissing your forehead from time to time, you keeping in his arms while you were smiling like a maniac.
