small bits of info on mathias. he’s part of the church during the day, he’s just a clergyman. unassuming and probably called something like clumsy clergyman

he’s very shy and awkward, he trips and drops/breaks things or loses his glasses while cleaning up or gardening. it’s all just an act, though. a cover for his real identity, and little things to set up interactions with the player

you can help him out which will build up stress and fatigue but build his trust in you.

if you come to the church when it’s closed and break in- you’ll find him in the basement praying. the books don’t look very holy and there’s candles all around him.

you can spy on him, or show yourself. but you have to keep what you see a secret. if you tell the clergy what you saw hes thrown out of the church and you won’t see him again.

Unless it’s in the woods during certain nights/moon phases. you’ll get a prompt about blood stains, and hoof tracks leading towards the old churchyard.

Mathias wears a goat head over his face- so if you haven’t met him before, the player won’t recognize him. if you have, there’s a special line where he greets you by name.

you’ll have the choice to follow him- but the outcome is much better with higher trust. if it’s your first meeting/ low trust, some hooded npcs will throw you out or fight you.

if he trusts you enough, he’ll bring you to an open field under the strange moon. the cultists join hands, and you’re expected to as well or you get +suspicion -trust

too much suspicion will grant you the same prompt, with the cultists throwing you out or starting a combat scene.

you can find him in the woods again the same way each time the moon changes. or in the church during the day as his other persona if you haven’t gotten him thrown out yet.

im thinking the cult worships the eldritch horrors in the town. if you have high skills in history or have run into any of them it will really raise your standing with mathias and your status in the cult.

mathias, as leader- has influence on the cult members who all love and praise him. they also get naked and freaky under the moon so there's stuff like that going on in the woods lmao. if you have high enough standing with mathias you can serve/please him in front of the others, or simply watch.

Perie is pretty shameless, both about being a thief and just like in general. She's (I'm? idk.) not worried about getting caught, viewing it more as a hassle, cause she has to get back out of the county jail, than an actual punishment. She's light on her feet with near silent footsteps.

most people who interact with them say they're calm and disinterested. but a few people will tell you that they have a quick temper and a propensity for violence. so far, the only people to gain their wrath are clients who try to swindle them.

she's like technically me so she has a slight southern accent that gets stronger when she's upset. her voice is quiet, a bit hard to hear if you're not listening closely.
