jj. the cute girl at the smoothie bar who's maybe even a bit shy. he's whipping his head back for a second look and stopping the whole group because suddenly he's so thirsty. purposefully putting on his most charming persona to fluster her, and it works. blushing and smiling nervously, giggling at his corny jokes and entertaining his small talk. he drops by casually, even to just say hi with a big smirk and exaggerated wink.

best friends to lovers. strictly friends, you were sure to stick to the 'no pogue on pogue macking' rule between the group. the playful fights that were always taken too far and too intimate, excuses to spend one-on-one time together, unintentionally breaking off from the others and found innocently messing around. afraid the ruin the perfect dynamic, it would always stop and be brushed off before anything went too far. it took just one night when the 🍃 hits too hard, it's all jeopardized and you find yourself messily making out with your best friend on his creaky pullout couch, logic thrown out the window. but hey, who's complaining?

second chance. you first love, unavoidably first heartbreak. it was inescapable as you were both unwilling to part from your closest friends. always around and always reminding you of what you once had. nobody wanted to pick sides, but everyone knew who fucked up, even saw it coming before it happened. the betrayal took a visible toll, and he tried to brush it off until he decided it couldn't end like this. doing everything to get back in your good graces, above and beyond anything he did when you were together, and the realization killed you. but how could you resist? you wanted to be his, even if it meant facing the embarrassment of getting back with your ex.

situationship. jj is probably the worst person to be in a talking stage with. his dry texts and ridiculously long response times convince you he's just not interested. somehow though, he redeems himself when you naturally run into each other. you'd never bothered to confront him about his feelings, deep down knowing you weren't the only one, just some fun in his free time. pathetically enough, you took any amount of attention he gave you and unknowingly became one of his 'favorites', as bad as it sounds. eventually, there was only one person he was checking his phone to respond to and could sweep you off your feet when he tried. it took convincing to assure you that he wasn't interested in anyone else, and after months of pining, you made it into a relationship.

And that Aphrodite canon tradition where a camper from that cabin has to break someone’s heart, JJ would literally rather die that do that to his golden girl. No joke, would take going head to head with Kronos over hurting his sunshine (nickname for golden girl bc she’s Apollo’s kid)

the way I one hundred percent agree with all of this. i do think that jj may be more hermes than aphrodite, but if he was, I agree. (i like need to write this AU like now). i also just noticed that most of my readers! are part of apollo cabin. here are my thoughts on this (bc i love sharing my opinion)

for gold!reader (aka golden girl, but that's wayyyy to long to write every time) she is definitely his sunshine and he would neverrrrr try and break her heart. he'd actually like jump off a cliff (or tartarus if you'd like) for her. he's definitely broken some other poor mortal or demigod's heart so he knows he's aphrodite, but yeah he'd rather die than do anything to hurt her.

for gold!reader, jj is the one person who scares her twenty-four seven. since she's a healer, he tends to hurt himself a lot (whether on purpose or because he's naturally clumsy) and every time he comes to gold!reader for some healing, he'd make it so dramatic just so she'd come running over. she'd see his shit-eating grin and hit him on the top of his head. she's try and get mad but he'd shine that dazzling smile at her and she'd melt because how could she not?

gold!reader was always suspicious that there must have been intervention when it came to her and jj because of how some things just "fell" into place. aphrodite is just watching, loving every moment, knowing for a fact that she was the one who caused jj to eat poison berries at dinner (he was the only one which was a little sus) and be sent to the infirmary where gold!reader was ironically the only person to help him. (she actually kissed him to prevent the poison from harming his mouth - idk how that worked, but it did and yes that part is extremely self indulgent). he literally fell in love with her right then and there and she had to walk outside before she literally bursted into flames or something.

if gold!reader had to go on a quest or something, jj is pulled a Titan's-Curse on everyone. no wayyyyy is he letting her leave by herself or even with a group of campers. never. if he was forced to stay back, he's literally pulling a Percy in Titan-Curse because he's picking fights with EVERYONE and everything and yeah no good. he eventually sneaks out (with the help of a few gods - once ares helped him by causing chaos in the camp for enough time for him to sneak out because aphrodite wanted some drama and angst and he can't deny his lady and her literal child even if he hates them)

for gold!reader and jj, they'd be like on percy and annabeth tier. like there's percy & annabeth and jj and gold!reader (they're like two years older than annabeth and percy, but still the same amount of shipping and love). she almost dies in the Battle of Manhattan and jj flips out and abandons his post to go bring her to will or any other of her siblings because she couldn't heal herself. he pleaded with her father to heal her because he loved her too much (apollo was so heartbroken from so many of his children dying and pleading of jj that he actually did heal her)

NOW! for piano!reader, she's so grumpy that people didn't think she was apollo's kid at first. it was only when she played the piano in the Big House for the Summer Solstice her first year there when that mark appeared above her head. She has healing powers too, but she's more on the lyrical side of music. Beautiful voice, amazing music and can write music so good that she's actually a famous artist on the side (she uses the pen name Lenora (aka Light) for all her music and she is one of the most famous faceless singers and composers ever).

for piano!reader, she was the one to break his heart ironically. aphrodite was actually quite offended and impressed that she did so. it was because she rejected his advances - but that's not the full story. she was playing beethoven (of course???) and trying to play it in peace when jj popped out and tried to ask her out to the lake that night. she didn't even hear him as her out - only felt him bothering her - and she slammed her fingers on her keys, cursed him out in Ancient Greek, and sent him on his way. It was later on in the night when everyone was gossiping that she found out he asked her out and she didn't even hear it.

the way piano!reader (also grumpy!reader) and jj got together was because she apologizes and wrote him a ballad (the ballad of jj exists in EVERY universe) they are all lovely dovey, (they still tease each other though)
