Loki woke up to a woman talking to him. He didn’t recognize the woman, but he certainly recognized the room they were in. It was his room.

“Who are you?” he asked, his head hurt and throbbed, his voice was hushed as he looked at the stranger.

It didn’t feel like Christmas. There were no lights, no carols, no flagrant ads for the holiday bustle. It seemed there was an unspoken accord to forgo the holiday. The world’s morning blackened even the brightest times.

Well, everyone was alone this year, in one way or another. Maybe they had someone left but there was also another missing. It was just you and your sister and she still lived in another city. 

She visited once since the disappearances. There was nothing to say. Not face to face. So you sent courteous messages, pretended that you were still as you were. But you weren’t.

Sick in Bed ~Loki Imagine~

Summary: Being nice to the God of Mischief while he’s under Avenger’s house arrest, doesn’t make you get on his hate list. When Loki notices your absence in most of the activities lately, he finds out that you’re sick in bed. 

Author’s Note: I’m sick. I miss writing. So what’s up everyone!

When Loki came down to Earth as punishment on what he did in New York made everyone weary. Except you. Sure you were a little intimidated but that never stopped you from being nice to him.

“Why are you volunteering to show Loki around?” Tony asked you.

“Because why not?” You shrugged.

“Y/N, he’s dangerous,” Tony said.

“So am I yet you guys gave me a chance,” You tell him. You had both telekinesis and telepathy. Your parents sought out for help. Luckily, the Avengers took you in. 

“He nearly killed New York,” Tony protested. You shook your head as you walked away.

Thor and Loki had just arrived to the Avengers compound on Earth. Loki was in chains as Thor escorted him inside. 

“Thor, we need you,” Steve said as he walked over to Thor. 

“Right now? I just got here and with Loki,” Thor said.

“Don’t worry. Y/N volunteered to show Loki around,” Steve said.

“Are you sure you want to let, Y/N show Loki around?” Thor asked Steve. 

“I trust them,” Steve tells Thor.

“Don’t worry, Thor. I’ll be fine showing Loki around and where he will be staying,” You said as you walked over. Loki looked at you. To him, you looked small and fragile. To Loki, you looked weak. How could the Avengers let you be alone with him?

“Alright. I’ll be back as soon as possible,” Thor said. 

Steve and Thor walked off, leaving you alone with Loki. You looked over at him and smiled.

“Follow me now, Loki,” You tell him.

After showing him around, you finally showed him to his room. You put on the ankle bracelet that Tony made to ensure that Loki wouldn’t escape. You took off the chains and the muffler on Loki.

“Why did you bother showing me around?” Loki asked you.

“You may have almost killed thousands and thousands of lives but I think you’re a good guy in the inside. Somewhere in that deep dark hole where your heart should be,” You tell him with a soft smile. Loki raised his eyebrow at you.

“Oh! And before I forget, here,” You said as you brought out a book form your bag. 

“A book?” Loki questioned.

“Well I talked to Thor and he mentioned you liked to read. This is a collection of my favorite stories growing up. Thought maybe you’d want to read it to keep you entertained,” You tell him as you gave him the book. It was the Chronicles of Narnia.  

“Thank you,” Loki said surprised. Surprised that someone was being genuinely kind to him after all that he’s done. 

“I should go but hope you like reading it. If you’re done with it, let me know and I’ll bring you some older books like William Shakespeare,” You said before walking out. 

The next few weeks weren’t a pain for Loki. You brought him books to read, sat next to him during dinner, talked to him like he wasn’t a burden. Loki started to grow feelings for you but wouldn’t admit it. 

The next couple of days started to feel lonely for Loki. You didn’t show up to bring him a new book, talked to him, or sat next to him during dinner. In fact, he hasn’t really seen you during most of the time. Including dinner.

“Stark, where is Y/N?” Loki asked as Tony walked past him.

“They’re sick in bed,” Tony told him. Tony was used to you two hanging out. 

“Sick? As in ill?” Loki asked.

“Yeah. Why?” Tony asked.

“No reason,” Loki said before walking away.

Loki walked over to your room with a bowl of soup in his hands. He knocked on the door, waiting for you to let him in.

“Come in,” He heard a weak voice. Loki opened the door to see you in bed as you watched a movie on your TV.

“Oh hey, Loki,” You smiled.

“I heard you weren’t feeling well,” Loki said.

“Yeah. Sorry if it seemed that I was avoiding you. I’ve just been sick and I didn’t want to get anyone else sick,” You tell him.

“Well I heard that soup makes you better,” Loki said.

“Thanks, Loki,” You smiled. Loki gave you the bowl before pressing the back of his hand on your forehead. 

“You’re burning up,” Loki said.

“I know,” You say. Loki used his coldness to cool you down.

“Thank you. That feels so much better,” You smile. After you ate your soup, you started to feel tired. 

“Loki, I feel tired right now,” You tell him.

“Should I just go then?” Loki asked you.

“Actually, can you stay with me until I fall asleep?” You asked him.

“Of course,” Loki nodded. You got comfortable before closing your eyes.

Once Loki was sure you were asleep, he left your room quietly as possible. As soon as he closed the door behind him, he saw Thor standing in front of him.

“I see you have gotten close to Y/N,” Thor said.

“And if I have?” Loki asked him.

“Nothing. Y/N is a good person and doesn’t deserve to get hurt,” Thor tells him.

“What makes you think that I would hurt Y/N?” Loki asked.

“Maybe it’s the fact that you tried to take over Asgard and Earth and murdered people who got in your way,” Thor said.

“I would never hurt Y/N,” Loki tells him. Thor smirked at Loki’s defense. 

“Well it seems that you like Y/N,” Thor said.

“Of course I do. They’re the only person who didn’t want to spit in my face when I got here,” Loki tells Thor.

“I mean, you’re starting to fall in love with them,” Thor tells Loki. Loki stared at Thor for a little bit.

“I’m done talking to you,” Loki said as he walked away. 

“I’m right aren’t I?” Thor asked Loki, who was walking more quickly. Loki quickly went into his room before locking the door behind him.

“Even if I did love them, they wouldn’t love me back. After all, who could love a monster?” Loki said to himself. 

Loki: *bursts into the main entrance of a hospital*

Loki: *sprints down the nearest hallway* No no no no no please no

Loki: *runs headfirst into Thor*

Thor: Loki, you’re here-

Loki: *vigourously shakes Thor* WHICH ROOM? TELL ME NOW!

Thor: Fifth floor, fourth door on the left, but, Loki, the healers aren’t sure when she’ll wake-

Loki: *shoves Thor aside and keeps running*

Loki: *slows to a stop in front of your open door* Y/n?

Loki, slowly approaching you: *sees you asleep on your bed*

Loki: *stares at the multiple wires attached to you* What have they done to you?

Loki: *sinks into a chair*

Loki: *leans closer* Y/n?

Loki, blinking rapidly: Y/n, I’ve returned to you...

Loki: *softly* I’m here.

Loki: *places his hand next to yours* Come on now...wake up, I’m right HERE.

Loki, choking back tears: Please, y/n... I need to hear your voice...see your smile...just WAKE UP.

Loki: *lowers his head* I know you wanted to come with me to Asgard...but I knew it would be dangerous and I thought...

Loki, aggressively wiping his cheeks: ...I THOUGHT you’d be safer if I left you behind...

Loki: *hesitantly takes your hand* I was mistaken...

Loki: I promised to keep you safe...and I...

Loki: *voice cracking* I’m sorry... I’m so, so sorry.

Loki: *looks down at his feet*

Loki: *squeezes your hand* You were going to show me that new movie you love when I came back...

Loki: *frowns* I can’t remember the name now...

Loki: *angrily laughs* Why can’t I REMEMBER...

Loki: *looks up* ...and you promised to take me on a Ferris wheel.

Loki: There’s so much you still have to show me...

Loki: *gently strokes your palm* I don’t want to do it all alone.

Loki: I was alone for so long...

Loki, searching your face: Please don’t make me go back. I can’t go back. Not yet...

Loki, dropping his head onto the hospital bed: We’re supposed to go on the Ferris wheel, y/n...

Loki, closing his eyes: *whispers* ...and it’s my fault that we can’t go...

Thor, peeking his head into your room a few hours later: *sees Loki with his head bent and his hand resting against yours*

Thor: Loki...you should rest.

Loki: *slowly raises his head to look at Thor* No... I promised that I would keep her safe...

Loki: I can’t break that promise...

Loki: *turns back to you* ...not again.
