Spoilers! RTTE ending.

I loved this season, all except for a few things, including the ending. I need to vent, because I’m so disappointed right now. The ending was really poorly thought out, it felt like to me. I’m not trying to upset anyone, I actually really loved this season, and I might do a list on the things I loved later, but it would be longer. I’m not blind to a series’ flaws, even if I loved it.

The big problems:

1. Ryker’s sudden betrayal had no buildup. All we saw were some minor squabbles between the Grimborn brothers, but nothing really big. So why did he decide to betray Viggo after all this time being so loyal? It doesn’t seem right to me. It was forced.

2. Viggo’s death was incredibly disappointing! Viggo is one of my favorite villains of all time, arguably my very favorite. Whenever he is involved I am genuinely worried for the protagonists and second guessing my intuition, because he’s just that good! That death was insulting! They gave him the most  cliche villain death ever! After all this time both hating and admiring this amazingly written caricature and this is how they chose to end him!

3. Ryker’s death. I have already mentioned how I disliked the plot forced betrayal from Ryker to his brother. Well, Ryker’s death correlates directly to that. As a result, his death was upsetting and dissatisfying for such an important villain. Not quite as bad as viggo’s, but still, pretty bad.

4. Dagur’s sudden re-appearance was given no explanation. He simply comes back! We never get to see how he somehow escaped from the supposed suicide mission. That’s kinda important don’t you think?!

All in all, this season was great because there was more Viggo! I let a lot of things go until his death. It’s not that I don’t want him to be defeated, either by dying or not, but this is not the way to defeat such a force. Please let me know what you guys think.
