Hello. I am Maryam Um Baraa, 33 years old.
A mother of 4 beautiful children, the youngest of whom is 8 years old.
I live in northern Gaza.
Our life was very beautiful until the brutal war on Gaza began. We began to suffer from hunger, thirst and deprivation.
We have endured many hardships that mountains cannot bear.
My husband was injured in the head due to the brutal bombing, and my young son was also injured in the head.
We suffer from a severe shortage of clean and healthy water, to the point that my children walk a distance of one kilometer to get water.
A gallon of water is enough for five people.
We were suffering from a lack of food and nutrients to the point that we ate animal feed to stay alive, which caused us to lose weight and have low immunity.
In addition, my children were deprived of education and building a beautiful future for themselves..
My children suffer from malnutrition and skin diseases that have no cure except for the lack of medicines and the spread of waste everywhere around us. We also suffered from repeated displacement from one place to another and we do not have cooking gas, so we use wood and plastic to cook food, which makes me exposed to burns from the fire.

After 7 October my home was destroyed and we lost everything we have
Five years ago, I had a stroke in the left foot during childbirth. I still suffer from pain until this time. During the diagnosis, it was discovered that I have a genetic factor that causes blood clots and needed lifelong treatment.
For my son Ahmed, he is seven years old, he was diagnosed with electrical charges in the brain and because of that he suffers from excessive movement and distraction.

A Journey of Resilience Amidst Destruction
My name is Muad Hani, and I am the head of a family consisting of 11 members. We used to live in peace and tranquility in two homes in Gaza, where I worked in the electrical field, and we managed a small library for reading and stationery, which was our main source of income. My siblings were studying in school and university, and we lived a life full of hope and ambition.
However, everything changed when the war began. Our homes were destroyed, and our dreams evaporated in an instant. Our library, which provided us with our livelihood, became nothing but ruins. We were forced to flee nine times in search of safety, and now we live in shelters, suffering from conditions that are beyond description.
My mother suffers from chronic illnesses, such as high blood pressure and a herniated disc, and despite her illness, she continues to fight to support the family. Our daily goal has become merely to obtain food and water to survive. We have lost the ability to provide for the basic needs of life, including food, shelter, education, and healthcare.
We now live without income and lack the simplest necessities that guarantee us a dignified life. We hope that with your financial and moral support, we can regain some hope. We want to provide food and water for our children, educate them, and take care of my mother's and sisters' health. We need your support to live a better life.

In the beginning, the weather started with light breezes that made the curtains fly, and sometimes the wind exposed us and we caught colds. On Sunday, the first rains of autumn began, and I think we began a journey of intense fear because some of the displaced persons’ tents sank due to the rain and the sea, and because we are... close to the sea, we all suffered that night.

Another side of this war
No gas. No electricity. It's just the cold, empty space where a stove should be.
It's a cruel irony that the war, which has already taken so much from us, has also taken away the warmth of a home-cooked meal. We are forced to rely on makeshift methods, the flickering flame of a makeshift stove fueled by wood or charcoal, a testament to our resilience, and our determination to survive.
The wood crackles and pops, spitting sparks that dance like fireflies in the gloom. It's a dance of desperation, a desperate attempt to coax warmth and nourishment from the ashes of our former lives. Each meal is a battle, a struggle against the elements, the hunger, and the uncertainty of the future.
We boil water in rusty pots over open fires, the smoke stinging our eyes, the fumes filling our lungs. We bake bread in makeshift ovens built from clay and debris, the aroma of baking dough a faint reminder of better days.
But even with these meager resources, we persevere. We cook, we eat, we share. We find solace in the act of preparing a meal, a reminder that even in the face of adversity, life continues. Yet, the weariness lingers, the weight of the war pressing down on us like a heavy cloak. We yearn for the simple normalcy of turning on a stove, of cooking a meal without the fear of smoke inhalation, of the comforting hum of a refrigerator.
The war may have taken away our electricity and gas, but it has not taken away our spirit. We will continue to cook, to eat, to survive.
We will continue to fight for our right to a life of peace, of prosperity, of simple joys. And when the darkness finally lifts, when the smoke clears and the city breathes again, we will remember the lessons we learned in the shadows.
We will remember the strength we found in adversity, the resilience of the human spirit, and the enduring power of a simple, home-cooked meal.

the price of necessities in gaza keeps rising, and seraj urgently needs new tent materials before the winter. medicine and adequate healthcare are hard to come by and expensive. he's supporting a family of 9+ people who could be displaced for the 5th time at any moment. it's our responsibility as fellow human beings who don't live in fear of bombardment, displacement, hunger, thirst and disease to support those who do.

Every morning, my wife and I feel heart broken and disabled, when our children wake up asking us for food which we don't have and unable to provide to them at this time in Gaza.
Before October 7th, I was a successful business man who owned a driving school and graduated from the business management school. I worked hard to secure a decent and happy life to my family, and did my best to raise my children with dignity, pride, and respect. However, once the aggression started on Gaza, we were forced to evacuate our house and left everything behind. I struggle every single day to secure 1 single meal for my children. Specially my older son, Ibrahim, who suffers from the Celiac disease and needs a special food which I am unable to find in Gaza at this current time.
Unfortunately everything I owned is completely lost after my house and business got bombed and destroyed. We are currently suffering slow death in Gaza, sharing a small apartment with other families and living a devastating life.
