This is so shamelessly earnest but I truly cannot wait for Advent like. The coziness of coming into a church when it’s been decorated for the holidays!! Nativity scenes!! The Advent candles!! Reflecting on the journey to Bethlehem!! The quiet excitement in the dark because even when there is hardship, we know that He is coming!!!

art of the dormition/assumption never shows mary of nazareth as an older woman. the catholic imagination is so terrified of losing her to abjection and rupture that she is not only not afforded a corpse (with all its wonderful sacraments of sick), but her body is indeed not allowed to bare age at all. what would our faith look like if it left space for the aging, alteric body of the m/Mother?
