If you happen to be reading this and are still confused, I have had two genital surgeries in my life, under very different circumstances.
the first was at the age of six months when I eas unable to consent.
My parents were convinced by surgeons that I would be unhappy with genitalia that didn't align with either binary sex as I grew up, and the best action would be to mutilate me and (poorly) hide the fact.
This was monstrous abuse and I am still deeply traumatized by it.
the second of my genital surgeries was an orchi this year. unlike the surgery in which I was UNABLE to consent, in order to get coverage I needed to get two medical professionals to consent to ALLOW ME to alter my body as an adult. Letters from cis people explaining I'm trans enough.
This surgery brought me relief beyond words, not to mention the fact that the surgeon was able to fix a painful complication of the first mutilation while he did my Orchi.
do you see why these are different?
so. i can't and don't want to 'control' how people feel, but i think if you are cafab & undergo medical trauma related to being intersex, you don't get to call that "growing up as a trans girl".
like. the forced testosterone puberty i went thru? that wasn't me being forced to be a trans boy. that was doctors forcing me on hormones to 'correct' my camab body. in fact, nothing that doctors did to my body without my consent as a child was trans, and i think it would be incredibly fucking disrespectful to call it that. to all trans people. to say that this lack of autonomy, this forced medical treatment, is to be called a transgender experience. like i simply do not think that is at all fair and i think it's really fucked up and transphobic AND intersexist, actually.

SHE IS PERFECT

Tyrith Shiva Kyrus, the female Custodes from Warhammer 40K: The Tithes Episode 2.
Idk I have PCOS and have had to laser off most of my facial hair and yea I relate to growing up “wrong woman” but that doesn’t make me a trans woman. Like I’m still treated 100x better than my thinnest, prettiest, most passingest trans girlfriends. I don’t walk around organizing spaces with the constant threat of being ostracized from these spaces looming over my head. I don’t walk around worried that I’m gonna be perceived as a sexual predator for literally just existing.
Like I get it. Trans women are cool, gorgeous and talented. They out here making cool art and music and writing interesting things. You wanna be part of that. You can be. You can love trans women. You can become friends and become a safe person for trans women to be around. You can help protect trans women from the shit they deal with daily. That’s how you can be a part of it. But you can’t just become a trans woman if you’re afab.
