Movie nights where you see a couple kissing and you just wonder when that will happen to you. But little do you know, they are already leaning in and you turn your head and they are so closeeeee.

you look up with a hum. "yeah? how dumb are we talkin'?"

"oh, super dumb," but he's smiling all the same, a little flustered. "so... back when we first started dating... i told you i was scared of horror movies."

something about his bashful smile piques your interest. this can only go one of two ways. "and?"

"i'm not," he chuckles. "i just really, really wanted to hold your hand. but when i brought up horror movies and you went off about how much you loved them... it kinda ruined my plan to try and tell you that you could hold my hand if you're scared. so... i lied."

slowly, it all sinks in. a few months ago, the first few dates the two of you had were mainly comprised of going out to see whatever horror movie was in theaters, new or old being shown again, and then a meal afterward. but he'd brought up the subject casually the first time you were getting coffee together, though, and when you immediately leapt onto the topic and started gushing, he'd matched your enthusiasm with a blushing 'but i still get scared of them.' you'd just smiled and offered to hold his hand if he got scared, hopeful that he'd be just as happy at the idea of it. but... he lied just to still get the chance to hold your hand?

you just laugh, and squeeze his hand a little tighter.

"don't laugh!" he says, but he's laughing, too. "every time i talk to jeonghan or cheol, they keep asking when i'm gonna come clean!"

"you're adorable," you say, stopping just to lean in and kiss his cheek. "you don't need an excuse to hold my hand, silly."

he flexes his fingers just a little, regaining a hold on your hand as he presses his palm firmly against your own. but you see the way he goes shy now, just for a moment over his own silly lie. "i'll keep that in mind, then."
