I have found a headcannon that makes Sticker Star as a sequel... not so trashy.

Basically, it's the idea that all the Paper Mario games are stories, but only the first three are actually true stories that got documented, hence the Paper format. Sticker Star and everything after it are fictional stories, written purely to introduce the Mushroom Kingdom children to the kingdom hero. It's not so bad because it is purely fiction in this franchise, while the actual good stuff is nonfiction.

This is also the perfect opportunity for angst as well, since Peach litterally gets possessed by a soul consuming *demon* and Luigi gets his body mutilated and transformed into an absolute monstrosity by a psychotic jester hellbent on destroying all of existence *including the fucking afterlife*, and they are both forced to watch helplessly as their bodies are used to fight the people they love the most, crushing them to death.

Oooohhh! My bad! Okay, let me edit that.
