they didnt just go by him saying what hurts
actually showing us genuine moments with her such as the moment with her drawing the flowers to study
then showing us after he finds out she is sick nothing changes aside from him stressing himself endlessly to try and cure her
then he gives us everything and takes last resorts!!
just!!!! that is how you do it!!
you don't tell your audience what to feel or how awful a thing is!! you show them!!!
