Roxy Wolf's Awakening
Roxy Wolf's Awakening
Inky darkness. No light. No sound. No ground. No scent. A being existed in this void. It thought and it felt. It wished it didn't. For as long as it could sense its surroundings and ponder them, it would be aware of the emptiness. It asked questions with no reason as to how they'd be answered. What was this place? What was it? And why was it in this place? It was terrified. It longed for something but knew not what.
As abruptly as the void came, sensations replaced it. White light pierced through the black. A distant voice hushed the silence. Vague scents filled the space. Then the most intrusive, it felt a body. An ear, a face, a nose, a neck, a torso, a tail, arms, legs, hands with fingers, feet with toes. Something stiff and soft held it in place, contacting with its thighs, forearms, back, neck and head. Its tail and legs dangled off the surface. It didn't like that. Its tail shot up, its thighs flinched. A feminine voice trilled through the dull. Its ears shifted towards the sound. Its new form could move. Then began a rhythmic pounding inside its ribcage. The pounding was so fierce, it might of burst through. It lifted an arm and precariously guided it to the source of the pounding, attempting to soothe it. So much was happening, it couldn't keep up. Then, its senses cleared and it saw its world for the first time.
"Aw, looks like you found your heart! Good girl!" a woman chirped before it. Her voice was pitched, stinging its ears. Her tone was pleasant, irritably pleasant. She was pale with generous cushioning at her thighs and brown, stringy hair pulled into a bun. Her brown eyes peered through oval glasses. An overbearing fragrance came off her. She wore a black t-shirt which was covered by denim overalls. One of her straps held a badge that displayed "Klara" in cursive.
Besides the woman's scent, the air was chemical. The room was lit with bright lights from above. Metallic walls curved around them, a dirty window taking up most of its surface. The window was broken up by two aligning metal pillars. Against the floor, the wall was lined with vents that protruded out. The floor itself was littered with stains and crumbs. Inside the little space were various mechanical arms that hung from the ceiling. It became fearful when it noticed how the arms looked poised to rip it apart.
"Roxy, sweetie, can you hear me?" the woman asked it. Roxy? Was that what it was called? "C'mon Roxy. Just say 'yes'. I know you can do it."
"Yes." Roxy answered with miraculous efficiency. It felt its tail wag and its chest warm from within.
"Yes! Thank you! Good job! You did good." Klara praised, seeming to fight the urge to grab its face. She settled with patting its thigh instead.
