The thing is, those fake situations do cause real harm. It might not seem like it but shipping these abusive/pedophilic ships do impact real people, it normalises abusive behaviour and even romanticizes it. It tells people "hey this type of behaviour is okay and cute!", thus making people think its okay to treat/be treated like that.

Even if it doesn't feel like it affects anybody, remember that it does cause real harm to people.

i think that if a ship is genuinely abusive / pedophilic / problematic in a way similar, you can’t excuse shipping it just by the fact it’s fictional

i saw someone talking about veronica x jd earlier and it got me thinking more about this

i think a lot of the time people try to excuse that sort of stuff with “they’re just characters!! let people ship what they want!!!”

but that’s the sort of reasoning i would expect to see used on a rare pair, or characters from different media, or self insert ships

not for ships that have a canonically toxic / abusive relationship

it kinda makes me upset

apply this heavily to my views on squipemy

i think if you wanna be gross and make public content framing an abusive relationship as cute/ fluffy, ok. i won’t get in your way. but don’t you DARE call people sensitive / annoying for calling you out on that behavior.

if you want to publicly make things romanticizing something problematic, you can not get upset when you rightfully get backlash

this isn’t even specifically about be more chill for once, moreso about an argument that i had with this one girl over talking about how “cute” veronica and JDs relationship is and how she “needs what they have”. but it applies heavily to my views on certain things in the bmc fandom and i WOULD like that to be heard and known
