Thinking about that one time in JL TAS when Batman thought Wonder Woman was buried under rubble and literally dug through it with his bare hands until she climbed out and then proceeded to hide his hands from her. Thinking about how it took Flash (2) minutes of talking to get him to go to Flash Appreciation Day and drag Orion along with him. Thinking about how Batman, literally he squishiest and most vulnerable member of the team, shot Martian Manhunter and the Flash away from the Watchtower so he could crash it into the enemy’s doomsday weapon, KNOWING he was far more likely to die than those two. Thinking about how on Superman’s birthday he personally delivered cash, knowing it was a shit gift, to him in the Fortress of Solitude because  he didn’t know how to give it otherwise. Thinking about how Batman is aware that he probably won’t ever fix Gotham, but still goes out and does it anyway because every life he saves is another life that won’t end up like his. Thinking about how Batman’s greatest strength is not his intelligence, or his skill, or his willpower, but his compassion for life even at its ugliest.

there’s something so inherently sexy about a character unmasking themselves after fiercely guarding their secret identity for so long 

i get so irrationally sad when i read fics where bruce is shown as indifferent towards children in gotham, or worse, when children are scared of batman. like well done team, we have failed step one in batmanism.

this is the same guy who used to take less fortunate children on camping trips outside of the city for no reason at all other than the fact that he wanted to and could. or the guy who was good friends with the teens who worked at the boy's club, sponsoring their training and making time to watch them. he got shot repeatedly and ran around with arrows sticking out of him to protect a child. he runs into burning buildings to save children! penguin used homeless children to draw out batman because he knew bruce wouldn't ignore them. he used to foster children while searching for ways to reunite them with their families!

he sees himself in every child in gotham, but more importantly, he doesn't WANT to see them follow the same fate as him! he doesn't want them to grow up scared and lonely, lost and hurt — everything he does is to avoid another batman from existing! he is the beginning and the end!

of course he can't save all of them — he's just one man — and that is quite literally his WORST FEAR, and of course that means there are going to be children who are lost and scared and alone... some moulded by his own hands.

but he tries and he will literally never stop trying, and that's still not enough — but its as close as he'll get to penance.

Shoutout to this very specific side of Batman that only comes out when Damian is in danger

I think sometimes people forget that Bruce is a skilled enough fighter and leader that Ra’s Al Ghul himself wanted Bruce as the head of the League of Assassins.

“people in the JL hate Batman because he’s so strict” nah. people in the JL hate Batman because all of their sidekicks wanna hang out and train with the batfamily and come home asking questions like “so when are you going to get a plane?” and “why don’t you know how to do [complex judo move]?”

AHHHHH IM CRYING

headcanon #1: bruce doesn't say i love you, it's not his love language, neither of his parents really said it either but his mother used to kiss his forehead just below his hairline and hold the kiss for a moment, it was her way of saying i love you without saying it

headcanon #2: Bruce continues the tradition with his kids but he's ocd about it so he holds the kiss for exactly three seconds on the dot, all the kids eventually learn it's one of his ways of saying i love you

headcanon #3: Bruce stopped doing that with Dick after their fight because he wouldn't be able to handle Dick pulling away from him and rejecting those unspoken words

headcanon #3: the first time Bruce reaches out to kiss Dick's forehead after they reconcile Dick nearly bursts into tears

Okay I'll raise it. Hermione/Tom? I really find this couple cringe-worthy.

Prefacing this with saying if you do ship Hermione/Tom, absolutely no shade to you, my darlings. Ship to your hearts content! Don’t let some loser on the internet (aka me) impact your enjoyment 😊

Now, onto my personal thoughts on the ship - it’s really the same as my feelings on Draco/Tom. They’re too incompatible in my eyes - emotionally, morally and mentally.

While there’s a lot of surface similarities, once you scrap off that thin layer, they’re far too different to mesh well.

Hermione is too inflexible, and holds to her morals too hard to ever condone or even attempt to understand Tom’s actions or motivations. And Tom is too disgusted by the idea of a lot of things Hermione values to ever think her opinion holds weight.

That’s why I ship tomarry over any other ship for either character.

Because at their core, and more than any other ship I can think of, there is a painful level of understanding and empathy between them. It allows them - even if they don’t agree - to see the world through the other’s eyes. They know each other. They understand the darkness in each other and don’t flinch away from it.

They are the only two who could possibly sway or influence the other in any meaningful way. Harry could make Tom better. Tom could make Harry worse. And that understanding of each other’s past (unloved orphans), emotions (that sense of being unwanted, freakish, other, more than those around them), and deepest desires (to be untouchable, to be safe for one fucking day in their lives) allows them to connect in a way that no one else can manage or come close to.

Hermione and Tom would implode as a couple spectacularly. They’d fail to find any sense of balance or respect. Again, like with what I said about Draco/Tom, unless Tom was manipulating or looking to hurt Hermione by leading her around (and thus getting some savage kind of amusement out of the whole thing), then I don’t think they’d ever go for each other.
