the rocky horror show needs no true introduction, partially due to its iconic history and partially due to its indescribably complicated plot. rocky horror has maintained an intense cult following since its opening on london’s west end all the way back in 1973, a popularity that was only bolstered by the release of the movie adaptation in 1975. the show is also deeply tied to counterculture and sexual liberation movements, due to its portrayal of fluid sexuality, unconventional gender identity, and sex positivity during the shift between the baby boomer generation and gen x.
