Dawns Gray Light Is Starting To Filter Through The Window Across The Room, But Hazel Eyes Are Closed

Dawn’s gray light is starting to filter through the window across the room, but hazel eyes are closed to the growing glare. She’ll complain about getting up later when she has to block the light. For now, even if her eyes weren’t closed, her face is buried in her lover’s neck, taking her in with every breath. Her arm is draped over Kit, thumb grazing circles on the bare skin of her hip. She knows they absolutely need to sleep and she’s comfortable enough to eventually get there, but she doesn’t want to. She wants to savor every waking moment with her Princess, especially with the night they’ve just had.

She chuckles at Kit’s words. Her lips press lightly to the princess’ shoulder. “I’m sure you’d love that, but you know we have that feast to celebrate Airk’s return,” Jade reminds her in a low voice. She’s hesitant to speak any louder after how vocal she’s just been. She’s almost certain Kit will have something to say about that. Jade can feel how relaxed she is next to her, the way her fingers tease at red curls, her steady breathing, even her laugh. They’re so far away from who they were the last time they were in this room and that makes Jade happy.

a hand slips down to jade's side and gently hitches the other's hip to her own, bringing their forms even closer together. fingers work their way under fabric and fingertips press into skin, deepening her hold on the knight. days, months - mercy knows how long they've been on the move for - has left kit with a burning desire to be left alone with only her knight for company, and now that they are... no holding back.

fingers toy with loose strands of jade's hair as head rests against the headboard, soft blues hidden behind closed lids. she's content, happy even. something that kit hasn't felt in quite some time. the strange yet wonderful effect of jade claymore. ❛❛ i don't think i ever want to leave this bed, ❜❜ she laughs. too comfortable, too satisfied. anything more than this would ruin her life, she thinks. ❛❛ a life spent here doesn't sound too bad. ❜❜

“I wanted to make sure you got in safe,” Jade replies. It’s the first exchange they’ve had since getting in the car twenty minutes ago. It’s a more peaceful back-and-forth than she’s been picturing during this ride. Far less hostile. Things could change. Kit is somewhat unpredictable, but less so than she believes, more so than Jade lets on. “I would have been anxious all night if you’d taken an Uber or something.” Jade’s car pulls to a stop; she turns her keys, shutting off the ignition. Her left foot lifts onto the dash, next to the steering wheel. Her head rolls to the side so she can look at Kit. They’ve been in this position so many times before, yet this feels different. “Are we gonna talk about it or do you wanna just go inside? It’s your choice.”

❛❛ you didn't have to drive me back, ❜❜ kit sighs as eyes take in the familiar building that houses her dorm. she hasn't said anything the whole way back, and now that the car has rolled to a stop, it suddenly dawns on her that she's potentially ruined @dutyxbound's night. on valentine's day, no less. rubbing hands down her face, kit then reaches down to unbuckle the belt, but struggles and grumbles in frustration when she initially misses. still not meeting jade's gaze, kit continues to mutter to herself underneath staggered breath. ❛❛ coulda got a taxi... ❜❜

She can see Kit’s frustrated. She’s been prickly for a while now and Jade cannot understand why. She waits, though. She’s always been known for her patience. It often comes in handy, but, at the moment, she just wants to know what the hell is going on with the girl next to her. She wants to believe they’ve become friends over the last few months. Is she wrong? Did she misread the signs?

Kit’s eyes turn onto her and Jade is relieved. Her teammate seems to struggle to find the words, but it’s a start. “Truth is preferable.” She’s not sure what to expect from that reaction. She can’t read her. It’s strange, because she likes to believe she knows Kit decently well. They’ve talked enough and they’re great on the pitch together. “Kit, what’s going on?”

what a hero. hands run down her face again before head falls back against the head rest dramatically. jade's chivalry makes the turning of her stomach worse, though there's every chance that was the amount she drank. either way, she's trying not to think about it. when the options are placed on the table, kit eyes focus on the car ceiling before turning on the other, blinking rapidly as she attempts to muster up any courage that had been momentarily misplaced. ❛❛ uh... ❜❜ scrunching nose up, kit struggles to string words in a sensical manner, especially when it's not logic that is currently running her entire existence. it's going to suck no matter what path she takes. ❛❛ truth? ❜❜
